  1. Well that is infuriating. Even though he won me the title in 2005 I no longer have positive feelings about him. What is going on now (and the past several years) is unacceptable and infuriating and disgusting. No fan should support what has happened at 35th and Shields.
  2. That's a good pic of all three of these gents. Tony looks way better than he did as skipper. It's great Ozzie over the past few years is totally welcome to work Sox games. He looks great there. Is Ozzie one of those guys everybody likes? Or can he be a jerk? I'm not talking about his statements to media, just his overall personality and demeanor. He seems like a guy folks would want to be around. I could be mistaken obviously.
  3. I wonder who Jerry is blaming for this mess of a team. Surely there are some non 'yes-men' in his life that tease/mock/ridicule him for this sorry excuse of a team. And his choices of GM and manager? Surely some people in his life are giving him hell for owning this awful club. Maybe he laughs at them and just shows them his full wallet.
  4. Milk, no offense meant, but why did u go to the game tonight and how much did you spend for parking, tickets and food/drink? I'm just curious why anybody would choose to attend a Sox game unless it was totally free. More power to you, though.
  5. That Sox pitching really reeked tonight all the way down the line. Yuk. And just a couple hits? I bet those fans who attended had buyer's remorse. Any idea of the crowd? Were more than 5000 in the Cell?
  6. What a blowout. I was in the car listening to Sox broadcast on Sirius. DJ and Len were talking about "something has to be done" referring to starting pitchers only going 4, 5 innings. They were talking about Tommy John surgeries and suggesting maybe 100 mph flamethrowers need to learn how to pitch so they can go seven. Throw 92-95 instead of 100 and learn how to pitch. I was surprised cause I thought this was just a greg thing to b**** about starters not able to go deep in games. They made it sound like an actual problem all over the game of baseball. On another topic I saw ESPN and other cable networks are not pleased at drop in the ratings and may dump baseball. Look, if baseball is a boring mess and other sports like women's basketball actually start doing well ratings wise, maybe the networks will be all in times 10 on NFL and college football and basketball and dump coverage of MLB. MLB is not even as exciting as bowling rite now IMO. So why were Len and DJ talking about stuff that concerns me in baseball.
  7. You are pretty much the only one on this board sticking with the Sox through this stage of abandoning its fans with this gawd-awful rebuild so I would ask you not act like I'm the only naysayer. I like Sheets and Vaughn cause they've waited a long time for consistent at bats, don't get hurt and seems like they care.
  8. I knew he had a good game or two but I also was unaware. I always liked Sheets and Vaughn, guys who have to wait a long time, like Karkovice, but I realized last season neither one of those guys is the real deal. I do like both, however.
  9. I am a lot of (bad) things but one thing I'm not is cheap. And yes I ALWAYS notice which of my friends/fam are cheap. No biggie. But if I go to lunch with let's say up to 3 other people I dive on the check. If it's one person I dive on the check. My dad was like that and I picked it up from him. I just want to pay for my friends or fam who dine with me. Now if it's ridiculous, 4, 5, 6 people of course we'll get separate checks. But when I see somebody counting pennies so to speak I feel sorry for them. I will say if I dine with somebody 3-4 times and I pay every time of course I'll make them pay just to make it not weird. I mean paying for a friend every single time is weird. But I agree, cheapness is a disease. U make money to spend it.
  10. Cue the song "Dream On" by Gary Wright.
  11. So far everything in the Getz era has been an abject failure. We'll see if the one guy in the Cease deal becomes a star. But right now it is truly sickening that the team's three best hitters (on paper) are already hurt and it's not mid April. Not sure how this bunch won today. I expect a loss every day.
  12. I just heard about Moncada. Is this for real?? The White Sox have lost their three best hitters on paper in the first 10 games. After all the injuries last year, the least the Sox coulda done was devote the entire offseason to working with THE BEST trainers in developing the best plans to avoid this stuff. Prayers up for Moncada. That looked awful. Geez.
  13. Post of the year. RR should still be our skipper.
  14. I'll confess. I never envisioned one game in which the Sox would score seven runs. And without a homer. I wonder how many homers will lead the team this year. Vaughn with 18 or so? Sheets with 11? That said, congrats on the victory. I have to control my bitterness when Sox do win. Looks like the bullpen had a good night.
  15. Exactly. The least you can do when you have a historically bad team is play young guys. Oh wait, that would mean 'rushing them.' When I saw our bottom of the order would be Lopez, Maldy and Bong I knew it was seriously time to abandon ship emotionally at least for now. During the Robin era and Ozzie era and Ricky era there at least was reasonable hope.
  16. Not sure if you are for tanking or against. I'm saying the fact the Sox are tanking again after just completing a tank cycle is unforgiveable. And that's why I'm becoming a fair weather fan of the Sox and not investing my time again until they get serious about winning. The only reason to attend a Sox game in person now are the sights and smells in what is generally regarded as one of the most generic lousy ballparks in the league. And the eats and drinks now are not worth the experience considering what you have to pay to park there. The Sox are even bad at tanking.
  17. Good point milk. I went to step two instead of the final divorce from the entire game. One day it dawned on me because of the Sox purposely fielding such a crap team to rip off me the fan, I could look to another team in Chicago. And one 40 miles from me here. Not actively crazily root for them but to follow their fortunes. And I'll monitor the Sox closely but never ever tune into a game, just highlights after games. But I agree when u say u are not the only person prepared to stop watching MLB completely,
  18. Quite a creative take. You on hallucinogens tonight? Kidding.
  19. I can't understand why anybody baseball savvy doesn't switch their allegiances now. The roster! The roster! It is so obvious it's the worst roster in Sox history. You can't follow this team when those in charge have gutted the franchise. It's time. To leave.
  20. I appreciate that. I used to be that way. Can't anymore. This team is an insult to me personally. I can see Getz and Jerry laughing at me as they count the TV contract dollars.
  21. Mmmmmbeer ... you should give in and follow the Braves. I am a diehard Sox fan for many many years. I finally gave up. I'm trying to follow the Cubs and Royals a bit. I did not purchase MLB.com finally. I just knew looking at our roster this was an INSULT to me personally as a fan. So I'll be like most fans in the USA, fair weather. If Sox get good again I'll be back; not til then. I'll only check the boxes and the free mlb.com summaries while trying to learn about the Cubs/Royals. It's time to throw in the towel mmmmmbeer and root for those Braves more.
  22. I was in my car and turned Sirius to the game. The Guardians announcer is from Milwaukee and he was talking about the Sox start in 1968, the 0-10. It was very interesting (score was 4-0 and he had to kill time I guess knowing Sox were not gonna score four runs). He pointed out Melton was a rookie. Pete Ward led the team with 15 home runs. Horlen and Peters were on the team. I think he said Peters was 4-13. He said Aparicio was still there and he said Wilber Wood as a reliever went 11-12. The other announcer was shocked the Sox were so bad that year with some decent players. The Sox had three managers in 68 I guess and the announcers joked: "You know you had a bad season (95 losses) when you had three managers." They yukked it up. The announcer pointed out the Sox played games in Milwaukee that season cause Milw. had lost its team and it was a way to draw some fans. He said he got to see Mickey Mantle play against the Sox in Milwaukee. My gawd this Sox team is lousy. Seriously anybody who supports this team by buying tickets is really a loonie bird. Cmon folks, do something this summer with your time. No reason to pay money to this franchise. They truly have a responsibility to field a competitive club and White Sox management has refused to do that. I'd be all for the league canceling all our games for a year or two. Or just removing our team completely from MLB.
  23. I would think Robert and Eloy are dead to the baseball world outside Chicago right now. They are non factors cause they get hurt so much. Teams will not want either of those guys cause of injuries now and in the future. Except for the piles of money they make it must suck being Robert and Eloy. All they do is get hurt then have to rehab. Man all that rehab time. Must be so boring. Day after day rehab. Then get the injury fixed and after a week have to start over in rehab again after getting reinjured.
  24. A conspirary theorist would say this proves Oz has learned to watch what he says. Lying is a sports figure's best friend. If he says he wants to manage it's bold headline stuff.
