  1. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Jun 5, 2017 -> 05:37 AM) CNN host Reza Aslan faced backlash on Saturday after calling President Donald Trump a "piece of s---" after a terrorist attack in London left seven dead and dozens wounded. In a tweet on Saturday that was later deleted, the University of California, Riverside professor and host of "Believer" quoted the president's use of several terrorist incidents in London to justify his executive action barring individuals from several majority-Muslim nations. "This piece of s--- is a not just an embarrassment to American and a stain on the presidency. He's an embarrassment to humankind," Aslan wrote. The tweet immediately sparked outrage on the right. Aslan deleted the tweet and apologized Sunday afternoon, http://www.businessinsider.com/reza-aslan-...n-attack-2017-6 Again, he should be fired. A professional media person can't call anybody a piece of s*** publicly and keep his/her job. And that CNN anchor who made a racist remark to the spelling bee winner should be ashamed of herself and fired as well.
  2. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Jun 5, 2017 -> 02:55 AM) Chance of being killed by refugee terrorist in United States is one in 3.6 billion Donald Trump expected to issue order suspending immigration from seven Muslim-majority countries despite little evidence to support it. Shouldn't we also be declaring war on junk food and heart attacks? Texting while driving or walking across a busy street? Texting and driving must stop! People, you are going to die eventually doing this. It would be a tragically stupid and unnecessary way to go! Just stop it. QUOTE (Chicago White Sox @ Jun 5, 2017 -> 03:36 AM) God I hate responses like this. We are literally dealing with organized evil and people like you make light of it because the odds of it ever impacting you directly is small. True. There is a real danger of attacks at our big-crowd events in stadiums and at entrances to stadiums and I fear random stabbings/beheadings. We must stop these thugs and attack!
  3. QUOTE (SoxAce @ Jun 5, 2017 -> 02:55 AM) LeBron was the one who started the whole join teams with all stars. Durant took that up a few notches obviously, but you live by the sword.. That is one, great take! Very very true.
  4. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Jun 4, 2017 -> 08:25 PM) https://www.yahoo.com/news/al-gore-trumps-d...-171821203.html Al Gore: Trump’s decision to withdraw from Paris Agreement ‘threatens the ability of humanity to solve the climate crisis in time’ Isn't Bloomberg saying he's going to pay the exact amount the USA used to pay? So what's the big deal? Bloomberg has the back of the US environmentalists and all is well. Trump hate is rampant. He's not gonna last over a year, people, so relax.
  5. QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Jun 4, 2017 -> 02:57 PM) Maybe if you don't want to be associated with Rush, you should stop parroting what he says and acting like he is a good source for factual information(lots of people listen, folks!) You guys with closed minds are something else. I like to listen to all points of view. So Maher is OK and Rush isn't?
  6. QUOTE (StrangeSox @ Jun 5, 2017 -> 02:29 AM) London, ‘reeling’? The city that weathered Nazi bombs pushes back against fear. There should be concern if not fear. I get mocked on here for saying ISIS wants to behead us in real life situations. Sit at a restaurant and they come out with machetes hacking people to death. Sick bastards. We need to fight these assholes. Find out where they are and drop BOMBS on them. Lotsa bombs.
  7. He's already failed his audition. The bunting is absurd. Is he on a one-year deal? I'd move on after this season, keep trying guys til we pick the right one.
  8. QUOTE (maxjusttyped @ Jun 4, 2017 -> 01:52 AM) The Sox pitchers collectively rank 3rd in fWAR since the start of 2009. Pitching in an offensive friendly ball park in front of bad defenses is going to skew their ERA pretty significantly. http://www.fangraphs.com/leaders.aspx?pos=...=&players=0 I don't have the data in front of me to support this, but I'm almost positive the Sox have also been the healthiest pitching staff in baseball over that time span as well. Coop isn't perfect, but I don't know who the Sox could bring in that would be a clear upgrade over him. Sox bullpen has been miserable since the 05 title basically. Use of bullpens has risen dramatically since then and Sox bullpen has been pathetic for the most part. Actually ever since that ESPN announcer I forget who it is, said we had the best bullpen in baseball. Our closers have been above average; everybody else has reeked since 05.
  9. Just read they were stabbing people in the neck and had machetes. I had just mentioned their penchant for wanting to chop off the heads of people. Be careful, folks. Isis animals.
  10. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Jun 4, 2017 -> 05:06 AM) Ted Nugent We need to ride in the battlefield and chop their heads off. If Obama is re-elected I will either be dead or be in jail in a year. He also called for Hillary's hanging. He was Trumps guest at the White House. The Secret Service should have investigated Nugent then, just as they are interviewing Griffin. If he said he would kill Obama and Hillary he needed to be interviewed.
  11. QUOTE (miracleon35th @ Jun 4, 2017 -> 06:11 AM) The tanking thing never made sense to me for several reasons 1. No guarantee that you will end up with a top 3 Draft pick. 2. No guarantee that any player selected becomes an All Star quality player. 3. No guarantee that the 5th overall pick becomes a better player than a 12th overall pick. 4. It demoralizes the current team and destroys the winning attitude that is so important to cultivate. 5. It demoralizes the fan base. 6. It reduces attendance which in turn lessens the financial ability of the team to acquire players. 7. It goes against everything we are taught about competing in sports no matter who your opposition is. I like the progress with Avi G, Leury G, Davidson and Yolmar. Omar and Kevan Snith have been decent. Sox need to start bringing up some pitching. Maybe Giolito, Fulmer, Burdi, Reynaldo and maybe even Kopech. We have to stop the bludgeonings. 15-5, 10-1... Great post. I endorse this post heavily.
  12. QUOTE (Sox-35th @ Jun 4, 2017 -> 05:05 AM) You continue to astound me with how little you know. The obvious sits right in front of you, and yet you completely ignore it and pretend you have any clue. Yet you lack any clue. Thanks for the insults. I personally would rather get the 30th pick than EVER root for the Sox to lose. So there. I understand your concept. I think it's ridiculous. This team will lose 90 plus games. I'd rather go .500 than lose 90 plus games. Why? I put little stock in the baseball draft. I feel you can get a helluva good pick if your team had a lousy record. I don't have to root for that record. And guess what? I don't trust my front office to take a great player at No. 5 overall vs. No. 13. No I don't. With their track record it'd be some college pitcher who won't make the adjustment. Now kudos for drafting Tim Anderson and some of the others. But I don't need the No. 3 pick; give me a winning record and No. 14 pick.
  13. QUOTE (Brian @ Jun 3, 2017 -> 07:41 PM) He's on HBO. He ain't getting fired for calling himself that. It was stupid to say something so ignorant in such a loose manner but anyone who says Maher is racist knows nothing about his track record of support. It's hilarious that people on the right label him as a liberal after this when he has no affiliation to either side outside of donating to Obama in 2012, which he has said on the show he kind of regrets because he wanted Obama to legalize weed nation wide. I'm a little surprised people are backing Maher. If Hannity had said this, people would DEMAND his firing. He said the N word on his show for gosh sakes. Also the Kathy Griffin thing. The Washington Post says to forget about it? Cmon. If somebody did this to Obama or Hillary, hold their fake severed heads? That person might have to move to Canada. For sure that person would not work again.
  14. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Jun 3, 2017 -> 07:47 PM) Maybe someday you will hold politicians to the same standards you hold comedians. Here's some things your boy Rush has had to say over the years. I bet you tune in on Monday without hesitation. And when you do and he calls for Mahers head, just remember who is talking. http://www.alternet.org/20-most-racist-thi...h-has-ever-said I guess you don't believe me and think I'm a liar when I described my Rush listening habits consisted of occasionally listening to a 3 minute segment prior to one of his liar commercials in which he pretends to use the product. To summize: When driving (I don't listen to radio on internet ever), I switch from 610 radio to 810 radio sports talk to classic vinyl on sirius over to 980 radio and rush. If Rush is not in a commercial I'll listen for a segment, change when it hits a commercial and maybe get one more segment. If it's really good stuff, I may delay going in the lunch meeting place for one more 3 minute segment. I enjoy his defense of Trump and rips of the media and can't believe these radio hosts pretend to use these products during the fake commercials.
  15. Awful. Horrible. I'm sickened.
  16. QUOTE (Jerksticks @ Jun 4, 2017 -> 02:28 AM) Greg I'm no expert. If that was sarcasm then funny funny. I just meant by Mr. Environment that I'm one of the many that really cares about the issue. I just always thought this whole deal was a big f***up waiting to happen. As someone above mentioned, without the battery technology this is a giant waste of time and money. And it was like a free pass to wait 5-10 years to address the issue, because Nicaragua is right, there's no accountability. The $100B slush fund (as a baseline i believe) was basically going to line the pockets of major energy companies because obviously many countries that would "benefit" from the money haven't the technology or infrastructure to do it themselves or utilize any of the money properly. So BigBoyOil and BigBoySolar and BigBoyFilter were going to travel the world "helping" these countries but running out of money immediately to do anything substantial. "We need trillions more". All this money needs to go to research IMO, all of it. I mean all these countries are agreeing to limit emissions already, why does the world need to shell out trillions on something that doesn't work like bandaids without adhesive. Or using chewing gum to help the titanic float for another minute. If we all figure out a way to harness and store the sun correctly then that is the time to invest and save the planet. Meanwhile, everybody do what you can and share what you discover. I think what Trump did was bring more attention to an issue that needed it. It's pointless without policing it. Thanks for the post!
  17. QUOTE (Heads22 @ Jun 3, 2017 -> 07:48 PM) No, he is not technically a democrat, which is one of the issues in my opinion. You know why Biden didn't run, right? Of course he is a democrat, just as Trump is a republican, wink wink on both. I know why Biden didn't run. Sure it was family reasons. But you don't think he'd have run if the DMC made it clear he was the person the party wanted and the country needed? Biden isn't dumb. It was all Hillary all the time and he'd have been considered a traitor to the party by running. He knew it was Hillary coronation time and he couldn't be the rat who spoiled Hillary's coronation. Do you really believe Biden wouldn't have run, even though he was grieving, if the coronation was his?? Again ... everybody on the democratic side was convinced it was Hillary's turn, Hillary making history. Perfect scenario. She would roll to victory, be rewarded for her lifelong service and be the first female president to boot. Biden couldn't spoil that party. He'd have been such a rat for trying to get in the way of the Hillary train. The Democrats didn't want a competitive primary season yet outside of the higher ups in the party, Hillary was despised by so many voters she actually faced decent competition from old, socialistic Bernie (who I happen to love). I'm not trying to be insensitive to Mr. Biden, whom I love as a politician. His grief was real and true. I'm saying if it was made clear to him he was the popular choice of everybody, he'd have run.
  18. QUOTE (Sox-35th @ Jun 3, 2017 -> 10:06 PM) Because losses position the White Sox to situate themselves close to winning a championship, which is the goal. Through a draft pick? Give me a break. Alvarez was picked SECOND; where was Trout picked? Beckham? Just be smart and pick the right guy. Fulmer? Great pick. QUOTE (witesoxfan @ Jun 4, 2017 -> 02:07 AM) If they end up with the 3rd pick or the 5th pick instead of the 1st, it doesn't really matter. Exactly. I can't believe there are Sox fans who want the team to lose every game it can for six solid months. It's ridiculous. This team is going to lose so many games it will make your head spin. You don't have to root for that, it's going to happen. But as far as the draft, geez, if you have a s*** record you are going to get a good pick. Then it's up to your scouts to pick a good player. Like you said it matters not whether you get the third pick or the 13th. You ought to be able to get a star. Oh wait, there are no guarantees in baseball. Also, you are counting on a front office that drafted Rodon and Fulmer high, an organization always in love with pitchers. You guys give Hahn too much credit. Give me free agency and sign some proven players to go with the stars we already have. And the draft picks we get naturally for sucking. No need to root for losses; Sox will lose 90 plus this season in their sleep, still could lose 95 or more.
  19. QUOTE (iamshack @ Jun 3, 2017 -> 07:11 PM) This is ridiculous. Maher says insensitive nonsense like this every week. Simply because he uses a particular word shouldn't set people off. It strikes me as faux outrage and disingenuous that because he said a certain word that should implicate the audience in something they weren't already implicated in by the same exact substance simply without the N word explicitly used. It's a big deal. He just apologized and the network statement prior to that was forceful. The Black Lives Matter leader called for his firing.
  20. QUOTE (StrangeSox @ Jun 3, 2017 -> 06:58 PM) The rest of the world has already told Trump to f*** off and said they're not renegotiating. Abandoning a global agreement that almost every country in the world signed on to while not offering any actual criticisms of the agreement and having your entire administration shot through with climate denialist isn't taking leadership. We have an expert on this thread in Jerksticks and nobody wants his opinion? Hmmm. I'll bite. Jerksticks, please tell me more about how the Paris accord fails and tell me about your concerns of the future? And answer this Q: Was Trump smart in doing what he did? Or was it a bad move? What is your opinion of the latest glacier breaking off? http://www.businessinsider.com/antarctica-...king-off-2017-6
  21. QUOTE (bmags @ Jun 2, 2017 -> 03:15 PM) I maintain that there is no reason for us to root for losses, the losses will come. That is an excellent sentence by bmags. He's right. I fully endorse that statement. Why root for losses? They are coming in droves and will continue to come in bunches. QUOTE (La Marr Hoyt HOF @ Jun 3, 2017 -> 05:03 AM) Like in any sport, worse you do, better the draft. Why does anyone want this team to win right now? Absolutely idiotic, hence the reply to the thread.... Cubs rebuild, they sucked, that's good........... Uh, you asked the question, do you really want my answer? I'll spare everybody my answer just put in the code words (Fulmer, Alvarez, Trout, Rodon), but I should print it again since you called my stance "idiotic." I'll conclude by saying, "Just.Win.Baby!"
  22. QUOTE (Heads22 @ Jun 3, 2017 -> 07:36 PM) Why should the party leadership have supported Bernie? He isn't a democrat. I gave you two choices, Bernie, somewhat radical, and Biden, always professional, very likeable by most all. In answer to your question, well, he ran as a Democrat, so technically he IS a Democrat no matter what you suggest. If he's not a Democrat, why was he allowed in the Democrat debates and primaries? Party leadership backed the wrong person and is partly to blame for the mess we are in, cause like I said, Biden or Bernie would have been fine as president. With Trump it's a matter of WHEN he's dismissed, not IF. Hillary had another awful week this past week. Trump is ALWAYS having a bad week. Meanwhile, Biden and Bernie say, "Hi."
  23. QUOTE (Quinarvy @ Jun 3, 2017 -> 07:21 PM) Please respond to Jerksticks' post. My feeling is he is gonna KILL on this issue since he's an expert on it.
  24. Hillary had a bad week blaming the DNC, reminding people that she was not the answer. Trump is Trump and has bad weeks every week. That said, will people finally admit to me that Bernie and/or Biden would have been great? The Democratic party would be on Cloud Nine right now with either. Biden woulda been the safer choice, a guy who everyone probably would have loved. Bernie a little more radical, but lovable as well.
  25. QUOTE (Jerksticks @ Jun 3, 2017 -> 07:09 PM) I'm glad we took the lead here. Took some balls. Now let's fix the climate the right way, whatever that is. As a climate activist myself, I feel like the Paris Agreement just kicked the can down the road. The CEOs of the major energy companies are pissed because the money won't be as easy and the idiots are mad because they think this means "pollute, pollute, Trump hates the Earth." Such idiocy. We can do better than "let's each put a filter on a smokestack", which was basically what this deal was. Always hated it, and I'm Mr. Environment. Great post Jerksticks. Folks, here is "Mr. Environment" who thinks the Paris Agreement "kicked the can down the road." He "always hated it." So once again over-reaction to Trump who has said he wants to re-negotiate the USA's participation. Jerksticks knows this issue and realizes we have to DISCUSS this to "fix the climate the right way, whatever that is." The national reaction to Trump's decision like Conway said is "hysterical." As in hysteria. Folks should listen to Jerksticks and CALM DOWN.
