Two in a row? Sox at Pirates 7/19 5:40 CDT
I was impressed with Gonzalez last night, let's see what he can do if the Trade Dead Line opens up some roster spots. The Sox have some defensive flexibility with the youngsters, Montgomery, Meidroth, and Baldwin. The Robert jr Bon Voyage Tour is starting out spectacular.

I predict Josh Rojas will get a hit tonight. The Moon's Phase will be the Wanig Cresent which bodes well for Rojas.

2025 Trade deadline rumors thread
Dan Plesac was on the Score this morning and he is really big on Houser being a difference maker for a contending team looking for pitching. Dan mentioned that he has seen Houser pitch twice in person and is impressed. Another name came up that the Cubs would be interested in, Zac Gallen. I heard Zac on I think it was Bar Stool, and he was saying that he didn't think with him being a fly ball pitcher he would be a good fit for Wrigley.

The decline of the curveball
Excellent point. You can add the screwball to that list that is also discouraged. The last White Sox pitcher I can think of was Hector Santiago. Fernando Valenzuela was lethal with the screwball. Steve Stone said that well thrown curveball is basically unhittable.

What might have been...
McClain married Lou Bodreau's daughter, drank a case of Pepsi a day, had gambling issues, but what a magical run in Detroit before he was pretty much finished at 26 years old. That 1968 World Series was awesome. Mickey Lolich was the star not McClain

The decline of the curveball
Don't forget to add Steve Stone to the great curve ball list, it got him a Cy Young. Sandy Koufax's last year was 1966 so I never saw him pitch but he had an awesome curve ball. Pete Rose said he had no chance against Koufax, "how in the hell do you that curve ball?

How do the Sox ever improve?
It's way too early to give up on Montgomery, Teel, Q, Vargas, and Meidroth.
