QUOTE (Jordan4life @ May 20, 2009 -> 10:55 PM) I wonder do they have "The continuing fall and decline of Francisco Liriano" threads over at Twins' message boards. His stuff flat sucks now. Great win. We can officially make it a "streak" with a win tomorrow. It is very flat now, he doesn't have the electric movement he had... and one of the analysts on the MLBN, either Magraine (sp?) or Mitch Williams, said that his mechanics are still bad and he's still leading with his elbow.
-
He would have to waive his no-trade clause for the White Sox, a team that wasn't on his list before
-
Good to see the Sox take advantage of a couple of struggling SPs. I'm sure it's posted elsewhere, but I just saw Ozzie's comments about Lillibridge on MLBN... he basically said they pulled him aside 3 times to tell him to use his legs and if he keeps showing his warning track power he'll end up in the Korean league.

Wood on the verge of imploding again. Leadoff walk, out, walk, walk, bases loaded one out and he Ks Teahen, 2 down still loaded and he gets a K for the tension filled save

QUOTE (fathom @ May 20, 2009 -> 09:11 PM) Still hasn't given up a run this year, which is crazy, as his stuff doesn't look that good. His pure movement stuff doesn't, but from what I've seen he seems to be locating well and not making too many mistakes.

QUOTE (MHizzle85 @ May 20, 2009 -> 11:05 AM) In other heavyweight news. Kongo is taking Herring's place on the UFC 99 card. We now will see Cain Velasquez face off against Cheick Kongo, i'm excited. That card got really interesting. Wand/Franklin, Kongo/Cain, Davis/Hardy and Spencer/Uno all interest me... it will be interesting to see if they move Cro Cop's fight to the main card

yeah, I spent a year in an abuse and neglect court... it's amazing at how poor some people are at parenting.

QUOTE (Thunderbolt @ May 19, 2009 -> 08:52 AM) Reed looks schocked every time he makes a play. He's hitting pretty good, right now. Not enough to make anyone miss him. He was traded for an important piece of the WS team, even if he was good to great I wouldn't miss him.

Arlovski is fighting Brett Rodgers (Rogers?) on the 6/6 Strikeforce card, which is a very good card.

Well I'll take babysteps, they had a struggling pitcher on the mound and they won the game. Good double by Thome to give some breathing room. Let's take atleast 2 of 3 from the twins and build -
the long national nightmare is over.

http://ausiellofiles.ew.com/2009/05/breaki...-1.html?cnn=yes My Name is Earl got the axe, but someone might save it. Doesn't suprise me, I was a big fan of the first season and to me, that show took a stunning nose dive in quality, it quickly became unwatchable. Much of it had to do with Jamie Pressley's (sp?) character. I hated when she became more of a focus and thought it ruined the show.

http://www.mmaweekly.com/absolutenm/templa...3&zoneid=14 98 this saturday. I'm really looking forward to Machida/Evans and have a strange curiosity about Serra/Hughes, but I think Sherk/Edgar can steal the show. Sounds like winner of Machida/Evans will coach TUF 10 against Rampage to set up the next title fight. Also, on his site Cro Cop said he's fighting Al-Turk on UFC 99 in Germany as a replacement for an injured Todd Duffee. When Cro Cop left it was mutual with the intent of him figuring some stuff out and making another run in the UFC, so seems like this may be it. Nothing official from UFC yet.

Thats it, I'm sick and tired of this s***

QUOTE (shipps @ May 18, 2009 -> 03:45 PM) Seriously though, how refreshing would it be for KW to do a complete overhaul and go baby young for the rest of this year? And then make some noise in the off season with a couple signings. I'm just afraid if they dump this year (which the fact that they're only 5.5 out after these 2 weeks makes me think nobody is going to run away with this division) and go young and attendance goes down, the Sox will come in with a ridiculously low payroll and point to the attendance. -
QUOTE (shipps @ May 18, 2009 -> 02:56 PM) I have lied about not having any gum at times because I get so fed up and they caught me opening some and got mad. Why do you have the right to be mad at me for this? Do I not get credit for the 6 month supply I have given you the past few months? I know, like i said in my other post, it's good to hear someone else having the same odd problem I do! Attorneys who make well over six figures a year would often go to the other side of the building into my courtroom just to get gum or mints. I would tell people at Costco you can get like a month supply of gum for next to nothing.

QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ May 18, 2009 -> 03:00 PM) And he's hitting something atrocious as his numbers are shooting way back down. I agree with you ont his Dick, however, I also agree something needs to be done as the management did a f***ing horrendous job and right now I see lifeless play and that is un-f***ing-acceptable. Swisher still has a OPS+ of 137 and his career average is 113, so he's regressing to his average now, but I wouldn't be shocked if he goes back to putting up similar numbers he had before he came to the Sox. It's mind boggling how this team seems to just be sleep walking through every game, except when there's a borderline call at HP then they act like had their first born child taken from them. -

QUOTE (The Ginger Kid @ May 18, 2009 -> 02:56 PM) funny, they had a real shot at splitting but for bad outings by Dotel and Linebrink. Linebrink game I'll give you because if memory serves me right, they had the lead. However, today, Dotel gave up a tie and wasn't expecting the Sox to score more runs anytime soon in that game. -

I can't believe this team is only 5.5 out and Det isn't playing today. That is ridiculous. -
QUOTE (shipps @ May 18, 2009 -> 12:02 PM) There is the same people that I work with that come to me time after time for a piece of gum. What is so hard about getting yourself a pack of gum! Hell, get this! They sell it in multi packs! f***ing A! Cmon people, I dont mind giving you a piece of gum every now and then but this is crazy how I am the full time supplier for chewing gum. I hope you guys arent the begging type because NO you cannot have a piece of my gum. I'm in the same boat. I always have gum or mints and when I was a PD and in court everyday people would just go into my bag if I had it down there and take it. I was out the other night with friends and pulled a half pack out and everyone asked for one and when I only had one piece left I told someone they couldn't have it (it was the beginning of the night) and they actually got pissed! I usually stealth it and take out a few loose pieces so I can just grab them without taking the whole pack out and starting a frenzy. It's ridiculous, but I'm glad I found someone who's in the same boat as me and how annoying a simple thing like this can be.

White Sox @ Blue Jays--Monday, May 18th

QUOTE (Flash Tizzle @ May 18, 2009 -> 02:40 PM) This seems to be the course for our minor league system. No one seems to have immediate and sustainable success. I'm not defending the poor minor league development track record of this org the last few years (hopefully that's turning the corner), but Walker doesn't get any blame? Getz was in the major league camp all ST and been with him for about a month and a half. -
they'll make a token run and stay within 4-7 games most of the year. Despite spurts by KC, Det and Min, I don't see anyone running away with this thing. I mean, with the 2 weeks the Sox just had and they're only 5.5 games out and Cle has sucked all year, except in the Sox series, and they're only about 7 games out? I don't care how early it is, those two teams should be way further out than they are. If they do fall flat and crowds go down, it will be a young/low payroll team next year, which would piss me off

QUOTE (witesoxfan @ May 18, 2009 -> 05:05 AM) The Brewers gave up arguably the top offensive prospect in baseball for 3 months of CC Sabathia. The Cubs got Harden for decent, but not overwhelming prospects, because he started 45 games between 2005 and 2008 with Oakland (he started 12 more games with the Cubs). That's 11 starts a year. Beane was just looking to get some kind of value for him before he got hurt again. Good post. When he was traded I believe he had never started more than 10 games in a row or something along those lines. He's a huge risk to have on your staff, because while he has tremendous stuff, he gets hurt a lot or he often ends up throwing 100+ pitches in 5 innings and a team finds itself in its bullpen early in a game. Don't forget, if it wasn't a 40 man roster in Sept. he probably would have been on the DL. Before he got traded one of the ESPN analysts, I believe it was Olney, said on radio that if the A's wanted anything near decent value for him he would have had to pitch all of the 2nd half healthy. The Cubs traded him for nothing because they took his salary and the A's were willing to get little for him to get rid of his contract. His ERA+ for this year is only 98

QUOTE (fathom @ May 17, 2009 -> 12:57 PM) It really is time to send down Fields. unless you think last year's injury set him that far back, no. He's 27, has had a good number of minor ABs. He needs to sink or swim in MLB at some point, and he should be up here working with the major league hitting coach to adjust to MLB pitching

QUOTE (fathom @ May 17, 2009 -> 12:49 PM) Nice job by Gavin pitching over the leadoff single. Can we get another hit off of Halladay today? If this game follows the season script it will be one of Gavin's best starts, he'll give up an unearned run, leave with a ND and Sox will eventually lose 3-2... and there has to be a borderline call that Hawk blames the entire game on... Hopefully they can break script
