QUOTE(Gene Honda Civic @ Nov 16, 2006 -> 05:00 PM) They played a quote from KW saying something along the lines of "We've been putting our feelers out there concerning deals, but it's only been feelers so far. We feel like we we're in a good position. We like all of our starters, but we feel like if there is a fit, where we can get major league talent and young pitching (read minor leaguer top prospects) in return, we'd be in better position for the future." that's the part that pops out to me. It think KW is looking to do a quality majore league player and a top prospect for a starter instead of only top prospects. I don't want to see him trade Garland for only prospects at this point, the Sox need to add proven major league talent this year IMO. I think the only way he moves a starter and doesn't get a top prospect is if he gets Tejada. Other than that I see a mix of a good Major Leaguer and a good prospect
-
I would guess it would be Tejada, I have a feeling the O's are actually going to move him this offseason. I think they were ready to move him at the deadline and Houston balked about adding a specific player... does that sound right?
-
I bet Aardsma and his agent are thrilled that Coop will be working as his pitching coach, and that's the main reason I'm OK with this deal. The Sox have been very effective in turning around struggling power arms.

QUOTE(IlliniKrush @ Nov 14, 2006 -> 04:52 PM) Kelly Clarkson Who's High Pitch?!?!?! The best driving song IMO is Radar Love by Golden Earring, it just works so well!!

I am a HUGE Big Frank fan, but that is a lot of money for him at this point. Granted he tore it up the second half, but he is just a clog on the bases. I joke about PK, AJ and Thome and their wonderful speed, but Frank has trouble moving 1-3 on a true double. But I wish Frank all the best, and I really feel he was one of the biggest losers in the steroid era, since IMO he was clean and juicers got way more pub. I would imagine if this is true, it leaves the door open for Bonds to go to the A's

QUOTE(redandwhite @ Nov 15, 2006 -> 12:30 PM) http://www.kgw.com/news-local/stories/kgw_..._.1ea1e06a.html For you ladies, what might be the appeal of having sex with a student? Perhaps the same rush somebody gets from breaking the law? I just don't get it really, it's not like most of these women would have trouble finding a man to sleep with, and even if they were into kids, how come they never called my name to stay after class to help clean up? They have mental problems, like male pedos (or at least similar) only often our society has a different reaction. South Park did a great job of addressing the double standard about a month or two back.

Mets looking to deal Milledge/Heilman?

QUOTE(SoxHawk1980 @ Nov 15, 2006 -> 06:42 AM) IF the NY Times article is correct, then Humber of Pelfrey for Vazquez isn't going to happen. THAT would not be a "blockbuster trade". In order for it to get to the blockbuster level, both teams would have to throw in considerably more talent, and I really doubt KW is looking to shake up the roster that much. I wouldn't be shocked if KW shook it up, I don't think he was pleased at all with the 2nd half, and doesn't exactly want to bring back the same roster. -
From the wording of the blurb, it seems like it may be the writer kind of speculating what an offer would be instead of hearing something. Now I am really curious what BA did to tick of the Sox. I think has a chance to become a very good player, but it seems like the Sox are set on moving him

QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Nov 13, 2006 -> 11:55 AM) It sounds like Vernon Wells is out there... just sayin. definitely the name that peaks my interest the most, I would love for the Sox to land him, I'm just not sure what the price would be. Also, is he in the last year of his deal? When would he be a FA?
-
good article, it shows the Cubs losing A-Ram kind of put them up a creek. They have to now get 2-3 bats, a closer and at least two starting pitchers. I know they have a huge payroll, but that's going to be hard to pull together. I think now they'll get Soriano, they are kind of boxed in the corner to sign him, Lee or trade for Ramirez, and the smart baseball move out of those 3 IMO is Soriano.

Kenny Williams holding his cards close to him?
SoxFan562004 replied to AWhiteSoxinNJ's topic in Pale Hose Talk
I think KW will make his move once everything shakes out a little. Basically every team needs pitching, and there's not enough to go around in the FA market, so probably once the pitching moves off the FA KW will move a pitcher, likely Freddy. He'll be sitting in a great position. -
the "there's no Stanley tree" line was great. I also lost it when Kelly found out that the office was staying open and she ran up to Ryan. I love this show, it's so good I can't watch it live, I have to Tivo it because I don't want to wait through commercials.
-
I guess he's banking on a team losing out on Lee and Soriano and being desperate for a potential stick... but yeah, I think I heard it's 3 years 33 million he walked away from, that will be hard for him to get.

QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Nov 9, 2006 -> 07:58 AM) I liked the old ones better just for the fact that they were different. I agree that they are a rip of of Washingtons jersies. I'll 3rd the Nats ripoff motion. Before reading down, that was the first thought that popped into my head
-
FWIW, I read somewhere, I believe it was in Si.com's "rumor" section that both Chicago teams will be on his list. Again, doesn't mean that the Sox or Cubs would have any interest in him, just that he would be willing to bring his sunny disposition to either side of our great city!
-
The only reason I think it may be Texas is that they have a chance to not get in a bidding war with NYY, Red Sox or Cubs with the actual contract. I think the other teams probably know they are in big baseball markets and can lay out an actual contract that would entice a Schmidt, Zito, etc... Rangers may think this is their only real chance to land a quality pitcher via FA and over bid for the posting, then have exclusive rights to deal with the guy. I would imagine Boras made it known what it will take to sign the guy. With that said, I could see the Cubs winning the posting too. It would create a media splash locally and nationally. If Texas doesn't win, I would imagine they would have a stronger interest in FG or Vaz, again with the idea they don't have to fight off Boston or NYY.

QUOTE(witesoxfan @ Nov 5, 2006 -> 11:46 PM) That is disturbing as hell to me. lol, me too... I can just see after the TV ratings for the series this year that Ol' Bud thinks it's in the best interest for only the NYY or Red Sox to have this guy... When will the announcement be made who had the highest bid? I'll go out on a limb and say the Rangers won.

Good to see that the kids made the decision not to play for a new coach. It's amazing when 12-14 year olds act more mature than an adult.

QUOTE(Rex Kicka** @ Nov 6, 2006 -> 03:07 PM) When I found out I had mono, there was no doubt about how sick I was. I actually passed out asleep on my way to a couch in my fraternity house. They have to take a bloodtest to know for sure, btw. I second that, it could be a mild case, but if you have a strong case of it like I did, there's no question about it, and you would be rushing to the doctors or ER because it messes you up bad. I was out of school for 1 month and for the first week and a half I basically slept 22 hours a day and the other 2 were walking to and from the bathroom. It sucks big time, so hopefully you just have a little strep, or it could even be the flu.

Just a quick question about television writing I've had for a little. How does a show with ongoing storylines use multiple writers? For instance, the person who plays Kelly wrote this episode, but it has to further storylines. I have had this question about the Sopranos mainly. Does the creator/producers have a template for the season, then go to the person writing a specific episode and say they have to include certain plot points in order to move the story along?

Will see this on my day off tomorrow or Friday. Does it have the "throw the Jews down the well?" bit? That is easily one of the top 10 funniest things I have ever seen.

I actually get the day off!! So I'm going to go out tonight, get up around noon and vote.

This will probably change Minn's offseason plans, they may now trade their vets

QUOTE(The Ginger Kid @ Nov 2, 2006 -> 06:46 PM) I still have a feeling the twins might trade Torii I think the Twins are trying to figure out what's up with Liriano (sp?) before they make any moves this offseason, but I can see if he's out for all of 2007 that they would trade Hunter. They would have to replace Radke and Liriano in their rotation with a limited budget.
