QUOTE(Jenksismyb**** @ Oct 24, 2006 -> 03:14 PM) I don't understand the draw with Obama. He's never been enthusiastic about anything. He doesn't seem to care about any particular issue. He just seems like a guy who agree's with everyone about everything. To his credit there's nothing, yet, to dislike about him either. I dunno, I just haven't seen anything that he's done to really catch my eye or make me think he'll be any different. IMO he's doing that because of a possible Presidential run and doesn't want to alienate any major portion of the voters. If I recall correctly it's hard for members of the Senate or the House to get the presidency since they have an established voting record that can be pulled out during the election...

If Cora leaves it would be an interesting to see who replaces him at 3rd. I would be interested if it would be an Ozzie choice or if KW and the org stick someone in there

That is hysterical!

QUOTE(maggsmaggs @ Oct 24, 2006 -> 09:44 AM) FWIW, Bob Nightengale of USA Today reported last week that the Sox would offer Crede and Garcia for A-ROD, too, so it may be a coincidence or there may be something to it. it will be interesting to see what comes of this, since similar names have been tied to the Sox rumors, as well as the Angels (usually Santana and a rotating 2nd player) Of course this is all meaningless chat because after reading the papers last week, it seems now that Pinella is the Cubs manager they'll get him for Henry Blanco and the NYY will pick up the entire contract

QUOTE(CanOfCorn @ Oct 23, 2006 -> 02:50 PM) I was never a fan of the dinner and a movie thing...only because that's two-plus hours of sitting next to each other...not talking. If you aren't sure about her feelings, a movie may not be the best choice. Dinner is, of course, good, maybe a concert (not a loud one), or go play pool at a bar (if you can). Somewhere you can continue a conversation. Even take a walk or get some ice cream or coffee. Good luck and be honest. I agree with the movie thing as well, your reason is one, but content of a movie is another. I guess you can go see a sappy date movie, but those are boring (and you don't want to set a precedent to seeing those movies if the relationship continues) and you don't want to see some movie filled with sex (could be an uncomfortable situation early on)

QUOTE(3 BeWareTheNewSox 5 @ Oct 22, 2006 -> 11:50 AM) He should blame the owners, I am no Beane fanboy, but he consistently puts playoff teams together with a meh payroll I agree with you. I think Beane is annoying, but his track record of success with that size market is great. It would be interesting to see how he would handle a large payroll team, it's not as easy as a lot of people think.

QUOTE(kyyle23 @ Oct 20, 2006 -> 07:26 PM) The girl looks like she needs sleep, serious bags under those eyes. She is like that chick on that Seinfeld (played by the woman from Frasier I believe) who looks good in some light, then you look at her 2 seconds later and she looks horrible... but even in her good moments, she can't hold a candle to Jenna!!

QUOTE(redandwhite @ Oct 20, 2006 -> 09:04 AM) I picked up these hilarious tight leather pants, I had thought I was going to be Dog the Bounty Hunter too. I want to be something else, but it seems like that is the only option. As for the vest, I picked up a beat up old black sweatshirt that I cut the sleeves off of. Looks good, will keep my body warm as all of my blood flows to my hands and feet as well. good idea, I'll probably just roll with that, yeah, for the pants I'll probably just do some of those cargo pants with a lot of pockets, wish I had a girl to roll with because a Beth costume with novelty size fake boobs would be awesome

I kind of want to go as Dog the Bounty Hunter, I have some Underarmor, cowboy boots and I could get a blonde mullet wig and facial hair, but the vest is what's hanging me up. I'm not going to drop money for a real bullet proof vest (the means streets of Woodstock don't require one for my daily life). So I'm going to see if I can get a decent looking black vest and go with that.

QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Oct 20, 2006 -> 07:26 AM) He regrets pissing off everyone, not getting bribed to quit, and the test failing. I think that's the key part... if I remember correctly, his missle tests also failed. So he has faulty nukes and nothing to deliver them and his actions that figured that out he pissed off the UN and some of the countries that stood up for him before, so yeah, he probably should do a little back tracking I guess Clinton must have called him and straightned the whole thing out

I agree, I use to be a HUGE Hawks fan, but the ownership has killed that the last few years, but watching the games this year they actually look like a professional hockey team again. I'm guarded, but I'm getting excited!

I love South Park and enjoy Dog The Bounty Hunter, so this new one was tremendous.

I agree with Flash on the F it approach, I didn't have a crippling fear of flying, but definite fear existed, and that worked for me. A little thing I do is watch the flight attendants, they've been through it all most likely, and if you're nervous they're usually calm and collected, which puts me at ease. (i've never had one freak out, so it works so far)

God I'm out of it today, when I read the headline I assumed it was Tag Body Spray, and was just overly confused...

QUOTE(BHAMBARONS @ Oct 18, 2006 -> 01:11 AM) Green replaced his offensive coordinator with the QB's coach. Play calling got way to conservative last night and I don't think Green had any choice but to make this move. Yeah, that's a loss where someone has to pay, even if it's just symbolic for the fans

QUOTE(Felix @ Oct 14, 2006 -> 08:41 PM) I'm going to be a priest, assuming I find the correct place to purchase the costume. actually if you hit one of those seasonal spirit stores, the Priest costumes are kind of cheap. Most of the stuff their doesn't look that great, but the priest/monk/pope costumes actually look pretty solid. You can also add to it with fancier jewelry or a bible.

Lou Pinella = Dusty Baker.... I think Pinella is actually a better manager, but what I'm getting at is he's a PR tool for the Cubs, and they have to pay him less than a marquee player. If A-Rod is available there will likely be many teams interested (LAD, LAA, probably CHW), so Cubs fans who think the Cubs will just dictate the terms to NYY and they'll land him are sorely mistaken

It was awesome. Something compelled me to stay awake and watch it, and it was worth it. Listened to the replay of Ferrall watching it this morning, that was hysterical, he lost it when they ran that punt back.

QUOTE(greasywheels121 @ Oct 16, 2006 -> 03:03 PM) Also starred in the best SC ad ever. Also best SC blooper clip ever of him losing it when they played Carl Lewis singing the National Anthem -
QUOTE(Texsox @ Oct 16, 2006 -> 03:24 PM) Good place for Busty Daker I see Dusty really picking his spot for his next move. He made a ton of cash with the Cubs and supposedly was pissed how it ended. I think he wants to slide into a top contender position and win right away, even if that means waiting awhile. But I do see your point in Oakland, Beane may have a lot of issues, but he's figured out how to win that division on a consistent basis, so that could be a place Dusty would look good sliding in and heading to the playoffs.

Rumors were really picking up in the morning in Chicago that this was going to happen. Seems like he was Hendry's choice all along. Wouldn't be suprised if Cubs make a few big signings in the offseason (or at least told Lou they would) because speculation was he wants to have a chance to win quickly, and in this NL any team that makes a few good decisions could be right up there.

QUOTE(Rex Kicka** @ Oct 13, 2006 -> 12:56 PM) I think its a ruse. Classic socialist showmanship of weapons systems that don't really exist. You may be on to something, preliminary tests are showing no proof in the air. On cnn.com front page. Nothing conclusive, but interesting. -
FWIW, Gammons was on Mike and Mike today and A-Rod to the Cubs possibility came up, basically no rumors, just speculation if Pinella is hired as their manager. Sox connection is that Gammons basically said the Cubs really wouldn't have a fit for a trade, since the Yankees won't have to do a money dump and the Cubs don't have the players to make it happen. (Saying it would be silly to trade Zambrano for him and they wouldn't take Prior). Gammons said the Sox are a better fit, but even that is hard with the whole Boras thing. (But someone made a good point earlier that A-Rod's deal is done, and if Crede is involved it would thrill Boras)

QUOTE(Kalapse @ Oct 10, 2006 -> 12:40 PM) The first sign of Jeter being a horrible leader was his unwillingness to move to 3B after the Yankees acquired a superior defensive SS. I can't believe this isn't brought up more often, it was an incredibly selfish move and actually hurt the Yankees in the longrun. Great point!! I've been preaching this too. Except I think Jeter would have had to move to 2nd, just would have been a better fit. laughing giddily at my desk because it's great to see someone else push this point!!

after the Sox signed Gooch, they ran an add in the paper with a parody of an immigration form... someone from the sight took that and mixed in some pics from him in Japan. I've had it for all this time, I love it!
