  1. Soon enough the Rays will be clinching. Percival got pulled though and the Twins have a rally going. They still need 6 runs to tie though.

QUOTE (danman31 @ Sep 20, 2008 -> 08:41 AM) She's a good one. No drama. Ass. In all seriousness, congrats bud!!!!
  3. QUOTE (maggsmaggs @ Sep 20, 2008 -> 07:01 AM) Am I the only doubting Nevin Griffin will do anything ever? He hasn't been healthy since we drafted him and now he is going into his third year of pro ball with a total of like 11 innings in his career. I don't buy any of Griffin's hype. Until he shows he can stay healthy, he doesn't belong on any prospect list. Its not like he has "ridiculous" stuff. Sure its good, but it ain't #1 stuff.
  4. QUOTE (Heads22 @ Sep 19, 2008 -> 08:56 PM) You mean Stanzi? He looked like s*** against Iowa State. f***ing horrible. DJK is a decent WR, don't know other than that. Also, this win will look better later than you. Opposite of last year where we got outplayed and won, you guys got outplayed and won this year. Brodell, Strauss, etc. Iowa just outplayed the f*** out of Pitt and lost. f***ing horrible, that would have been a huge road win. Stanzi looked bad against ISU but he looked good today against Pitt and I have no f***ing clue why I had to keep seeing Christensen's terrible self.

QUOTE (Milkman delivers @ Sep 19, 2008 -> 06:50 PM) Frisbee. Nobody has ever been better than me. Nobody ever will be. I'm am probably the greatest...terrible frisbee person. No matter how much I try, I can't f***ing throw a frisbee. I freaking lost a frisbee in frisbee golf (it went into a lake which wasn't even near the hole).

QUOTE (DrunkBomber @ Sep 19, 2008 -> 03:14 PM) I thought this could be interesting. What, if anything, have any of you thought you had become extremely good at? Basically, what in your lives have you become the closest to being the best at the world at something. Ill post mine after a few others. I would assume nobody here is the best in the world at anything, its basically, have you ever been good enough at something that you have always been better than anyone you know at, and even better, maybe taken something online and continued... All Star Baseball. I never ever lost a game, in fact, I never even played games where the person I was playing didn't eventually give up. I think I was quite possibly the greatest to ever play such a game.
  7. Omogrosso and Long should be much higher on your RP list. Especially Omogrosso. He has a pretty nice arm when healthy.
  8. QUOTE (fathom @ Sep 19, 2008 -> 06:51 PM) Just remember it was you and I saying that once they clinched, they'd be so much looser and play significantly better than they had been. I'm still annoyed that all of the World Series DVDs don't include the two PK homers in the first inning from the ALCS. Those homers were huge and I definitely remember that. I think 99.9% of this forum was s***ting there pants when we continued to make our statements about how this team would loosen up as soon as they clinched. Once they did, they steam-rolled.
  9. QUOTE (fathom @ Sep 19, 2008 -> 06:48 PM) Two huge developments: Dotel looked great, and Swisher was swinging with some confidence tonight. Liney looked good and more importantly healthy.
  10. Woot Woot....I think this is going to be the start of a GREAT WEEKEND!!!!
  11. QUOTE (PlaySumFnJurny @ Sep 19, 2008 -> 06:42 PM) I'd love to see Linebrink set em down in order. He could be key. He looked like he was actually loose out there, which is huge.
  12. QUOTE (fathom @ Sep 19, 2008 -> 06:44 PM) I'll still never believe that I went to the only game they lost in the playoffs. In that case, I'm glad your in game threads and not at the games I kept s***ting my pants during every game scared that somehow they'd blow it. When they clinched to go to the series I was tearing. I'm man enough to admit such too. All of the season ticket holder's around me were classy though (I know them all since I was still in college and was at a s***load of Angel games that year). Man what an awesome season that was. This seasons been pretty cool too. Mainly because I never in my wildest dreams expected the Sox to be in this thing. I still have doubts, but if they can somehow get there arms fresh for the post-season they got a shot. I like there 4 starters and if rested the pen is do-able (Thorty/Jenks/Dotel/Liney/Mac).
  13. QUOTE (whitesoxmanager @ Sep 19, 2008 -> 06:14 PM) exactly. fortunately i was able to get tix and go to all 3 AL championship games in anaheim. it sure was a blast. did you see me on tv? god knows you never go to any games as you are mr. pessimism i pissed my pants because i love my team that sucks and i hate all the players that is why i post 1 million posts so hopefully somebody will like me. dont worry i will buy you a coke kid. And those three games were amazing!!!! How's everything been?
  14. QUOTE (tommy @ Sep 19, 2008 -> 06:05 PM) It's between us and Philly? After he wins a ring with the Sox, he'll go in as a Sox!!!
  15. QUOTE (tommy @ Sep 19, 2008 -> 06:01 PM) I was going to ask the same question earlier. Nope.
  16. QUOTE (Heads22 @ Sep 19, 2008 -> 05:51 PM) It'd be neat just to see him slash up there. Its the most bat speed I've seen out of Swisher all season.
  17. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Sep 19, 2008 -> 05:38 PM) And MacDougal...and Sisco...and Scott Sullivan! Sullivan came from Cinncy.
  18. QUOTE (whitesoxfan101 @ Sep 17, 2008 -> 08:58 AM) Good question. Iowa looks to have a pretty solid plan on defense, special teams, and in the run game. But if you've got two quarterbacks, you've got none and their wide receivers aren't very good. I think they are in good shape to make a bowl this year though. They have a shot. Stanza looked impressive till the Cyclone game and is definitely the future. Very good athlete. The WR's at Iowa aren't near as bad as people believe but overall they have a better than expected squad and I think this team is much more like a typical Ferentz team (unlike the past couple seasons). Still they haven't played ANYONE (sorry, ISU isn't really anyone) and I expect them to struggle to score and that will be there achilles heel.
  19. Kap...for pure gaming purposes, Xbox > PS3. I don't give a crap what the fanboys want to say about how the PS3 has more capabilities, the Xbox has better games, a better online mode, better controllers, etc. The PS3 on the other hand is the better system if you aren't going to play many games. That is because it can double as a total entertainment system (since it has blu-ray).
  20. Wait, what did Alexei do?
  21. I commend OC and Ozzie for stating the facts. Why sugar coat it. Any fan can see that this team is on life support right now (not its playoff hopes, rather from a health perspective). The guys are absolutely exhausted and I'm hoping somehow they hit a quick hot streak where Minny is struggling and the Sox are able to somehow ease/rest the last couple days of the season.

QUOTE (danman31 @ Sep 19, 2008 -> 12:38 AM) Yeah, Leinenkugel's doesn't make bad tasting beer. Berry weiss is epic. I had some mix drink called a top hat tonight. It's 6 different liquors, a Budweiser and some wine. It's massive. Let's just say wow. I called my girlfriend and she kept saying I was really drunk. That's pretty accurate. Geez. You...Girlfriend.....wow, you must have been s***faced to imagine that
  23. QUOTE (fathom @ Sep 18, 2008 -> 09:43 PM) For the people that say it's up to the players to perform on the field, and management deserves no blame, this weekend is a situation where Ozzie should face a lot of scrutiny if Buehrle and Floyd suck. I pray for my sanity and this board's sanity that we don't have to discuss the effects of 3 days rest too much. I just hope a year from now we aren't looking at Floyd/Danks on the DL cause right now they are two of the guys that have me most excited about where the franchise is headed.
  24. I'm personally not a fan of this because its suicide. Even if the Sox pitchers can do good on short rest over a couple stints we are just asking to have them all burned out come the post-season and at that point we'll be one and done anyway. Hope you can get quality 5th starts from Richard and stick on normal rest (thus ensuring that you put those 4 starters that are good in a good position to succeed both in the regular season and the post-season). Just my 2 cents though, especially when you factor in Floyd/Danks being young.
  25. QUOTE (fathom @ Sep 18, 2008 -> 09:14 PM) This article makes me feel all warm and fuzzy. I never thought I'd say this, but good for Ozzie and OC. http://www.chicagotribune.com/sports/baseb...0,7990801.story I know one thing, despite 99% of this forum, I love OC. He's been a tremendous addition to the team and I'd have no problem keeping him around as long as the Sox were able to find a legit guy to leadoff. I'd totally give OC a 3 year deal worth good money and use Swisher and whomever to acquire a legit CFer. Let BA be the 4th outfielder (getting more and more starts as the Sox will have to rest Dye/Thome/Konerko more). Go with a Casey Blake type at 3B. Hold onto your actual prospects and try to prepare and build up some more young arms and young position players to step in for Dye/Thome/Konerko in the future.
