    What do i do?

The part where you said that she wants to experiment with other guys kind of says a lot and that's probably what is bothering you the most (I mean, who wouldn't be bothered by that?). If you guys were meant to be than it will happen, but honestly, and I'm saying this from experience, whenever a girl says that she first wants to meet different guys before she makes up her mind, that's kind of like saying that she wants someone who is different and overall refreshing. You can play the waiting game if you feel necessary, but why not try what she's willing to pull off? Just by judging the few posts you have in this thread, I can tell that you're a nice guy and perhaps the "right" guy for her. But some girls are waiting for the right "asshole" to showup and in some cases they are too blind to notice.
  2. The Halos and Rays have to be considered as the top favorites going into the postseason. Let's not also forget that the Red Sox are the defending champs. And even though they don't have the Ortiz-Manny duo anymore, they still have perhaps the most dangerous lineup. Only thing to be concerned with are these final weeks where they are going to be fighting for their respective division. That can lead to some overwork for their pitchers which would also have effect on the Rays. The Angels on the other hand can start resting their regulars to allow the young and inexperienced a chance to play. Respectively, the White Sox are not a team to loose sleep over. This is a team that has relied a lot on three things this season and they are: pitching, Carlos Quentin, and the long ball. One of those three are out of the picture and now they have to take into consideration if they can continue to play at a level where they can be competitive enough to try and defeat teams that have a.) pitching b.) defense c.) play fundamental baseball d.) have various sources to winning (i.e. small ball).

    Whatcha Doing Today?

Just got home from work and in a little bit I'll be reading a couple of chapters for an English test that I'll have tomorrow. Hoping I can finish off soon so I can have a grill-out with the Sox game on.

    Soxtalk: A History

I was posting in the MLB message boards when someone posted a link to Soxtalk. I took a good while to look at the board and came to the conclusion that this place was more colorful and not as callous as other places had been. I mean, this was a time when message boards were something new to me in the Internet world. Theforce.net and Soxtalk were the place to go for my daily dose of posting. Of course, the people that are in it is what I think gets people to be a part of it(in this case, Soxtalk). Posters like Brando and Juggernaut always seemed to have something of value to say. IMO, they would put the time and effort in each of their posts. They would get flamed, for reasons that I will probably never understand, but all in all they were here because of their love for the White Sox. And, of course, you then had posters like Jeckle (who is hopefully doing progress in Anger Management). Just to bring back some of those early memories, how about the time we had Billy Koch as our closer? You could give that guy a five-run lead and he would still find a way to keep us screaming at him through the television screen. Rushing to the computer to see the reaction of this place was never short of thrilling.
  5. Would a sweep be asking for a little too much? Would be gladly appreciated.
  6. QUOTE (elrockinMT @ Aug 26, 2008 -> 12:09 AM) Bobby Jenks. That's why he is the closer Amazing how it took 10 posts to get the right response. We are in a situation where the team can't afford to let games slip away. Bobby can handle it. Use him till that arm falls off.
  7. The flip-flopping of 1st and 2nd can be amusing to the eyes of baseball fans, but for us it can really get frustrating and nerve wrecking (at least for me it is ).
  8. Personally, I wouldn't want to see K-Rod break the record. Call me biased, but to have a White Sox up there in the history book is something that should remain since there really aren't many records that are held by former players of the chi sox. Not to mention that Thigpen had 87 innings of work while Rodriguez so far only has 55. A few of his save's have been 2 out saves . . . He is currently at 50.

    College

The one thing I hate about going back to school is seeing punk ass kids reving up or hot rodding their piece of s*** honda's (or any other piece of s***) in the parking lot. It's so f***ing annoying! I'll take my american muscle (third gen Camaro) with the flowmaster's anyday.
  10. It wouldn't be the dumbest contract given up, but it would definitely be a risky one. He most likely will be signed to a good deal because of the veteran presence that he would bring to a ballclub. It's not very common that you see a former closer (with 85 saves in the previous 3 seasons) convert into a 15+ game winner all of a sudden. It's not like he's been getting cheap wins either. Yes, he does have a record of having 15 wins already, but that season was nothing close to what he has accomplished so far. To say the least, give credit where credit is due. He worked hard in the off-season and it's paying off for him. And if this is a fluke, he has done nothing to harm that whatsoever.
  11. Anyone else notice what Francisco Rodriguez has been doing this season for the Angels? Just today I heard how he may be considered for the AL Cy Award because of his consistency as the closer for the Halos. He currently has 48 saves with 37 games left for his respective team. Since the AL West is the weakest division, most of the games left will be against division opponents (Tex, Oak, Seattle). As many of you may know, Bobby Thigpin holds the single-season record for saves, which he accomplshed for the White Sox (1990). His 57 saves and 1.83 ERA helped him get 5th in the AL's MVP voting. The closest one since was Gagne in '03 when it was pretty much game over for opposing teams. Now, 2008, it's K-Rod trying to make history for a team that can pretty much start printing playoff tickets.
  12. Who would have predicted that a rotation of Blackburn, Perkins, and Slowey would carry Minnesota to this point of the season? To think that perhaps Liriano would be in the bullpen if the Twins were to make the playoffs is kind of scary and says a lot about the ballclub. This season has been nothing short of surprising.
  13. Congrats. to Clayton Richard on his first major league victory! Hopefully this is one of many more to come as he tries to help the team move forward
  14. QUOTE (ROC Sox Fan @ Aug 19, 2008 -> 09:35 PM) Remember the spots have come against two of the worst AL teams, I'm not saying, I'm just saying. I thought Richard would man up and I'm glad to see he did. Someone said we won't need a 5th starter the next few times around the roto so if that's true than Broadway and Richard could both be on the September roster to make starts based on match up. There's 36 games left after today's game and 4 days off before the season is done with. The 5th starter (whether it be Richard or Broadway) would probably have to be out there for another 5 starts. The season is quickly coming to an end if you think about it so if our 5th starter can keep us in the game there shouldn't be too much lament about there not being a Washburn or Byrd in our rotation.
  15. The market this mid-season wasn't a very selective one where Kenny would have tried to pull the trigger on a front man starter. You look at the Brewers and Cubs, they both acquired quality arms before the All-Star Break and that meant getting more out of them. The Dodgers just traded for Maddux, but they probably will only see him go out there for 5 starts (6 at most) since there's approximately 36 games left in the season. IMO, if we were going to see a new pitcher in a White Sox uniform, it was going to be before the trade dead-line and not mid-August. I wasn't very much surprised that Kenny didn't go overboard and try to overpay or give up too much because there's not too much to choose from, not to mention that a lot of teams think they still have a shot at making a run. Giving the youngsters like Richard or Broadway a chance couldn't be all that big of a crisis since these guys would only be coming out every 5th game. The month of September also means seeing more guys in the dugout since the rosters expand. Perhaps someone comes up and has an impressive September-call up to push us through this pennant race.
  16. Sean Gallagher going up against Kevin Slowey. Neither pitcher has faced the opposing team. Perhaps the A's can give us a hand and take the series while the Sox take care of business at home.
  17. QUOTE (NCsoxfan @ Aug 15, 2008 -> 10:27 PM) Is it just me or have the A's had a TON of players with last names that sound alike? Or should I say players with names that end in N Harden Haren Barton Braden Blanton Gaudin Hudson I was thinking of that as well when I stopped and looked at how good Oakland has been at bringing up good starters (Harden, Hudson, Mulder, Haren, and others) and then having to trade them away. It's the way for small market teams.
  18. QUOTE (chimpy2121 @ Aug 17, 2008 -> 11:22 PM) You know who I wish would come back? Goldmember. He's the one that brought me over here from NFL-Fans in the first place. I have noticed the absence of some good quality posters from the past. I won't mention names because I don't want to offend those who aren't mentioned. To sum things up, like others have already stated, there has been plenty of changes in people's daily lives and it has taken away their liberty to post as often as they used to. We can only do our best to keep this site well and alive (which should be no problem). After all, both sites are dedicated to the team we love and die for.

    Whatcha Takin'

First semester in college: Intro Sociology English Composition Intro to Higher - -? Learning Strategy Excited and then again kind of nervous.
  20. It's Justin Duchscherer going up against Nick Blackburn, which should turn out to be an interesting match up. At least more of a challenge than what the Mariners had to offer.
  21. You're perhaps the first to complain about Comcast. What exactly made you opt out from returning with them? Personally, I've had them for a good year now and I think the service is great. You don't have to worry about a weak thunderstorm interfereing with your reception and they always seem to have good deals on different packages. Not to mention that their high-speed internet is real fast.
  22. I used to be very active till I opened my eyes and realized that school related subjects was more important than reading suffering loss threads about how bad a game was. Not to mention that I started working 10hrs. a day, everyday. Soxtalk, IIRC, has never really been close to what WSI has been, but since this place does have more intellectual posters, it feels like it's close to it.
  23. ^^^^ What he said. It's very unlikely to have division rivals trying to give each other some players of value to try and improve.

    Films Thread

Just looked at the trailer on YouTube and it does look like a worthy film to see. Looks like it has some of that Big Lebowski element with all the jigsaw and crazy happenings unfolding!
