  1. QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Aug 11, 2008 -> 02:42 PM) Excellent move for Arizona. I don't see how anyone can question it. If I'm a Cubs fan (and if I were I'd more than likely be gay), I want nothing to do with Arizona come October. Having to face Webb, Haren and RJ, who's something like 84-0 in his career against them, would scare me enough. Now their offense just got a lot more potent. And they still have a strong 'pen. Arizona has dissapointed since their hot start. But they're built for the playoffs. They get in, they're as dangerous as anyone. I look at it this way: The Cubs could return the favor for what happened last season against the D'Backs in playoff time ( ) or the D'Backs can repeat what happened, which would be more appealing
  2. QUOTE (Leonard Zelig @ Aug 11, 2008 -> 02:41 PM) My original comment was in regards to the people saying that the AL East is not decided. My point was that who wins it does not really matter to us. What matters is who takes the Central or WC. What matters is that the White Sox take care of business and don't let their second half woes continue cause otherwise the team will be sitting at home come October. IMHO, it's all about winning a division title when a team thinks about advancing.

QUOTE (TheBlackSox8 @ Aug 9, 2008 -> 07:08 PM) So I'm guessing Pineapple Express is a must see if you want to piss your pants from laughter? BTW, love the sig
  4. QUOTE (Cali @ Aug 11, 2008 -> 02:38 PM) I think CQ should get it cause he's been more valuable to his team than Hamilton. Carlos basically carried the team through April and May. Hamilton has Young Kinsler and Bradley helping him.... Carlos has basically carried this team day in and day out. It was just yesterday when you actually felt that the Quentin-Dye-Thome trio is nothing to be messing with. CQ not only leads in most of the offensive categories, but he has done an awesome job in LF. He is a smart player all around and if he keeps it up (which I think he will) he will have the MVP on lockdown. Hamilton has nothing to look forward except racking up all kinds of RBI's, but in Quentin's case he has all kinds of things to look forward to if the team can clinch the Central.
  5. It's finally time for the Brewers to put up a division champs flag. It's been an eternity since they have done so. '82 if I'm not mistaking is when they missed out in making perhaps the biggest beer pool in the Mid-West Region. This is the year for them!
  6. If you want to look at home field advantage stands, then just about every team in the AL has an above average record at home with the exception of KC, Cleveland, and Seattle. Funny how a friendly audience can do a team some good.
  7. QUOTE (Alpha Dog @ Aug 11, 2008 -> 01:46 PM) At least they aren't inning ending double play grounders to short. Not sure how he does in that situation, but if true then I guess a GM would take the strikeout before an inning ending DP. For a guy who is 6'6 and 275lbs you would imagine him playing 1b, but since Byrnes is out and Burke is no offensive threat, Dunn will definitely be an upgrade in the starting lineup. Good trade for the D'Backs and the Reds all in all.
  8. QUOTE (DBAHO @ Aug 11, 2008 -> 12:50 PM) But Arizona has gone from having the best farm system argubly a year ago, to probably a mediocre one now. They've traded 10 prospects alone for Dan Haren, Jon Rauch and now Adam Dunn. Yeah, but isn't that what usually happens when a GM tries to put his team in a winning situation? If you look at the D'backs this season and last year they have definitely upgraded from their past form. They have enough talent right now to put away their current division for some years to come. Right now is the time to do it for them. A Webb, Haren, and Johnson rotation going into the postseason could give the disadvantage to the opposing team. Now they have a bat who can put up some hits even though he does have some negatives (K's a lot).
  9. Funny, cause during the game I was laughing at how he has shaggy hair and now to see him with no hair is going to be something else.
  10. This is very sad news. At least he'll be able to spend his last days in the location of his request and with the people that are closest to him. Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid and Cool Hand Luke were the first two films that made me a Newman fan. I really liked his work and admire what he did. He is definitely up there as one of my favorite actors. Also can't forget his collaboration with another of my favorite actors, Steve McQueen, in The Towering Inferno.
  11. It's going to be a roller coaster ride in the standings unless the Sox or Twins can put together a good string of wins. Let's hope it's the Sox who can catch on fire.
  12. That's the weak point of both teams. You have to rely on them winning at home because their struggles away are sometimes unbearable. Whether it's the White Sox or Twins who clinch the Central, they won't be going too far. A five game series against the Red Sox or D. Rays will most likely end rather quickly. It's the reality for both teams unless something changes in the next two months.
  13. The Cubs just proved that they are serious about winning their division and having the desire to go deep into the playoffs. They not only win the series, but they sweep the Brewers who are now five games behind. Not to mention that the Cubs pitching, defense, and offense was on their game.
  14. I'm looking at it this way: Had Konerko not been injured (we're talking about a player who went to the DL for the 1st time in 11yrs. since he's been in the Majors) he would perhaps have a better season and there would be no need of having a Swisher/Konerko platoon at 1st base, leaving Nick at center. Swisher has had a below average season thus far, but it cannot be forgotten what he did when he was on top of that lineup. Basically what I'm getting to here is that if our players were a bit more fortunate we wouldn't have the need to acquire a 4th outfielder and Kenny would perhaps be more agressive towards acquiring a SP. Griffey is an outstanding player, but he is past his prime. We're bringing in someone who has had issues in the past few years with injuries. I don't really see why there is the need to bring in a player who you'd have to keep an eye on everytime he is out there trying to make a highlight play.
  15. Both teams receive a player they need. The Tigers get some help in that bullpen and the Yankees get a catcher, who although can't hit for power like he used to, but he can hit for average and that's all you can really ask for when you have an arm like Pudge's.
  16. QUOTE (Flash Tizzle @ Jul 29, 2008 -> 12:14 PM) Always Sunny In Philadelphia. There's something about the actors (esp. Danny DeVito) in this show which makes viewing it a chore. I compare it to King of the Hill -- entertaining, but not hilarious. If there's one show that needs to have more re-runs it has to be Always Sunny In Philadelphia. If you ask me it's the most underrated sitcom.
  17. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jul 23, 2008 -> 07:37 AM) 3.79 is cheap... how sad is that? My eyes start glaring when I see gas prices that are below the 4.10 mark. I guess it's because we're used to seeing gas close to 5.
  18. QUOTE (knightni @ Jul 21, 2008 -> 12:47 PM) Yeah. Gary's on the other list, Yoda. I wouldn't doubt it, lol
  19. After the wise and powerful Jedi Master who appears in all of the franchise's films except for Star Wars IV.
  20. Ha! There is only one location listed from Indiana and it ranked #10
  21. Even if the Cubs don't get the division they still have the Wild Card on lockdown. The NL is weak and facing an arm like Harden is not going to help the cause for the opponent.
  22. In '05 we had Garcia who was a road warrior and could be looked upon to step it up when needed. This year we don't seem to have one pitcher who has the balls to at least give a hint of wanting to be the show stopper. This team needs to be lit up the ass . . . quick
  23. The Royals have been impressive nonetheless. They start the season on the road and sweep a team that is chosen to be up there in the win column. This should be a fun season for AL Central fans. Maybe this can be the start of something. The Central possibly getting the recognition it deserves.
  24. Congratulations Craig B-G-O!
  25. Happy belated B-Day Flaxx!!!
