  1. QUOTE(Athomeboy_2000 @ Jan 25, 2008 -> 06:37 PM) umm.... deaf people can still see and read. Yeah, but.......ah forget it.
  2. QUOTE(kapkomet @ Jan 25, 2008 -> 05:20 PM) Hey, you bastard, I resemble that remark. What are people who live in Dallas called? Dallasians? Dallasites? Metroplexxxenos?
  3. QUOTE(Brian @ Jan 25, 2008 -> 05:45 PM) That's pretty original. How many viewers will try and turn up their TV when it comes on and mess with the remote. Is the end logo for EnAble going to be in Braille-o-vision? Cuz otherwise, they won't know. Yep, I'm going straight to hell.
  4. QUOTE(Greg The Bull Luzinski @ Jan 20, 2008 -> 04:48 PM) Wouldn't the "Scro-Dome" be great too? W1NNAR!!1!
  5. "Throw another shrimp on the barbie!"
  6. QUOTE(Pants Rowland @ Jan 25, 2008 -> 11:25 AM) Not terrible at all. Owning is a wise decision in the long run, but there is also a significant element of independence that goes with renting. Once you buy a place, you give up a portion of that independence. You need to pay a mortgage, insurance, real estate taxes, and maintenance. In addition, the maintenance reduces your free time. Further, the down payment effectively takes your liquid cushion of funds and places it in a very illiquid asset. All these variable make it tougher to change jobs, go out of town on the weekends, throw parties, etc. The bigger the mortgage, the more magnified the loss of certain freedoms become. There is no need to rush anything until you are comfortable with the decision you are about to make. I hope I am not scaring you with this laundry list, but it is always better to go into these things with eyes wide open. Taking your time will help educate and prepare you to make a sound decision on your ultimate investment At risk of droning on and lecturing too much, remember to run away from a deal when someone tries to pressure you into signing any type of contract before you are ready. When they tell you that there are three more buyers that are ready to make offers on a place, the best response is to say 'no thanks, I can't compete with that type of demand'. The owner of the first house we nearly bought was playing hardball with us during the initial price negotiation. Once we agreed on price and were in the inspection period, we found some problems with the roof and decided to terminate the contract. It was eye-opening to see how much $$ the seller was willing to give up once we did not want it anymore. If you can fake indifference all the time, you will be well-served. Just like buying a car...be prepared to walk away. If they want to sell it that bad...they will come to you. Thanks for the advice, Pants.
  7. Wow, that's crazy. Prayers for his family.
  8. QUOTE(Steve9347 @ Jan 25, 2008 -> 11:40 AM) Yeah. Can't ignore those columns about his lame hall of fame ballot stunts two years in a row. I don't like Telander that much. Obviously everyone's going to have their own opinion anyway, but Telander... Zzzzzzz. Maybe, but Telander = Journalist. Mariotti = blogger.
  9. You ever wonder if Jerry, Kenny, Hawk and Mariotti ever get together over beers somewhere and laugh at the fact that we Sox fans get in a tizzy over these articles? Kinda like professional wrestling...sorry Brian!
  10. QUOTE(Steve9347 @ Jan 25, 2008 -> 10:30 AM) Jay Mariotti is the best columnist this town has. Rick Telander says hi.
  11. QUOTE(WilliamTell @ Jan 24, 2008 -> 03:19 PM) Definately the country for me. I've neve been into the city life, although it's ok once in a while. But since I crazily ride my bicycle all the time, going mountain biking would be awesome. Plus I've never actually camped out somewhere and that would be cool too. Which one is you...?
  12. QUOTE(Kid Gleason @ Jan 24, 2008 -> 02:26 PM) Exactly, the only reason I had fun was the kids. Nope, the kids had very little to do with my overall enjoyment. I would go without kids in a second. Anyone ever tell you that you are the spitting image of Goofy? Wait...what...? He's on the right? Ohhhhh...
  13. Big city...I like the hustle and bustle, the culture, the restaurants. But then again, having a hut on the ocean in Fiji doesn't sound too bad either.
  14. QUOTE(Kalapse @ Jan 24, 2008 -> 12:52 PM) Any sane GM would laugh at such an offer. I don't think they're going to give up 2 of their best young players for our crap but that's just my opinion. According to the SF website, Lewis is buried on the depth chart. Of course, that might be last years depth chart now that I think about it.
  15. Not that it's not true or whether I believe him or not, but didn't a co-author of Canseco's quit because he was full of s***? I'll see if I can find the link. And here you go: see...
  16. How about Crede, Floyd and Broadway for Cain and Fred Lewis? Shoot, you can throw in Owens as a replacement for Lewis if ya want.
  17. Truth or Consequences, NM Joe, Montana Hell, Michigan Boody, Illinois Boring, Oregon Ordinary, Kentucky See more here: Yeah, I said here.
  18. QUOTE(dasox24 @ Jan 23, 2008 -> 04:14 PM) Well, Illinois picked up a DE commitment, Ugo Uzodinma, from Dunbar H.S. in D.C. 6'4'' 240, 4.6... Pretty good #'s... Originally came down to Virginia and Illinois, picked Virginia b/c of Mike London. But when London was named head coach at Richmond, Ugo wanted to play for the Illini. Oh, and Compton re-affirmed his commitment to Nebraska. Does that mean Frierson is going to come to Illinois?
  19. QUOTE(Kid Gleason @ Jan 23, 2008 -> 02:14 PM) Do you have a link to the actual picture? Looks a lot like the Big Foot video.
  20. Two words...Smart Car. Around 12K with decent gas mileage, I think it's 36 mpg combined city/hwy. Not a lot of trunk space...ok, none. Fits two passengers pretty comfortably and you are up higher than, let's say, a Miata, so it feels bigger than it is. Ever think about a lease?
  21. Joe, Montana. OK...seriously... Chicago...I mean, c'mon...if you want NY bats***crazy, you got it. If you want LAid back LA, you got it. There's a reason Midwesterners, if they move away, tend to end up back in the midwest. San Fran...Just a cool town, but waaaay to expensive. Seattle...I mean, look at it. Water, city, mountains. Austin...Having moved here sight unseen, I was pleasantly surprised and am said to leave it. Hopefully, I can be a snowbird someday and spend winters here. Munich...nicest...people...anywhere, and easy to get around. Toronto...ok, nicest...people...anywhere. Like the Chicago of Canada. Or is Chicago the Toronto of the US?
  22. Aren't the Sox still getting money from the Phils for Thome? That would drop the actual payroll number. But to the original question, I think Kenny has bounced back pretty well considering what happened to the Sox at the beginning. I don't know if both will go, but at least one of Uribe and Crede will go...I'm guessing Crede since he doesn't have the flexibility of playing multiple positions like Uribe does. Hopefully they both go.
  23. QUOTE(hitlesswonder @ Jan 23, 2008 -> 09:34 AM) If the Sox want to deal with the Giants, I'd rather see them try Fields+Danks+Shelby for Cain or Lincecum... Cain yes, Lincecum...he makes me nervous. He's a little guy that throws REAL hard. I would worry that he could become Pedro-esque. You know, dominant when not hurt. Just makes me nervous.
  24. QUOTE(almagest @ Jan 22, 2008 -> 10:03 PM) That's one of the areas I'm looking in as well. My friend lives in Portage Park now and likes it a lot. The only problem is it takes over an hour to get downtown on the Blue Line sometimes. They really need to fix that thing. Actually, they are.

QUOTE(Rex Kicka** @ Jan 22, 2008 -> 04:17 PM) All the studios have to do is agree to a token amount for online content, and the strike ends. I don't know if a "token" is going to be enough. The WGA and SAG aren't going to go down lightly on the wave of the future.
