QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jul 25, 2013 -> 12:52 PM) He hasn't done anything worthy of a standing O. He had barely 1 good season for us, and that season didn't even get a playoff birth. So we won't be seeing you in the PV appreciation thread unless you 're playing devil's advocate.

Peavy probably comes out for the 6th and Robin pulls him so he can get an ovation from the crowd at some point ? Or Robin ignores everything and treats it like a normal game ?
-
Ok PV no Tim Hudson and get out of there.

QUOTE (elrockinMT @ Jul 25, 2013 -> 12:36 PM) Good job by AR Both of them !

Alexei upping that value too, hits, RBI's stolen base.

QUOTE (Jake @ Jul 25, 2013 -> 12:00 PM) His name is Rios and he dances on Verland I like it .

QUOTE (pettie4sox @ Jul 25, 2013 -> 11:49 AM) I don't think contact is too much to ask from a major leaguer. Strikeouts are at an all time high in MLB. Last year 36,426 K's .

QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Jul 25, 2013 -> 11:39 AM) The way this season is going, he'll probably have a 2 hitter with 2 outs in the 6th, someone will hit a weak chopper to first and Peavy will sprain his ankle covering first. Although, if they are intending to compete next year, I'd rather they keep him. It does seem like they are going to trade him so maximize that value. Yea if all these teams are soooo reluctant to pay an extra year on a contract that is beyond reasonable for what Peavy gives (which I don't beleive for a second ) then f*** 'em.

QUOTE (SoxPride18 @ Jul 25, 2013 -> 11:39 AM) Disagree. Just leave him on a pitch count, no more than 105. If he leaves after 6 at only 80 pitches, scouts wouldn't like that. At that point thats enough for the scouts you remove him and expose him to as little risk as possible.
-
If Peavy pitches well get him out after 5 or 6 innings max.

QUOTE (Jake @ Jul 25, 2013 -> 11:30 AM) Anyone else having a hard time getting Soxtalk to load? I was seems to be better now. I saw that ball get by Hunter and I thought don't send Paulie it'll be ugly.

We've all heard in the past that Peavy is not a big game pitcher. This is no doubt a big game. Not only can he prove he is a stopper but can pitch with the pressure on. This is a big start for the future of the franchise.

QUOTE (HickoryHuskers @ Jul 25, 2013 -> 09:24 AM) Way to be creative with that lineup Robin. Keppinger has proven all year that he is a mighty bat.

Make a case for a new manager in 2014

QUOTE (fathom @ Jul 24, 2013 -> 09:25 PM) This is what flavum was referring to in the game thread http://www.chicagotribune.com/sports/baseb...0,4523119.story That doesn't even phase me . I'm more concerned with his actions than his words and he's not showing me any creative thinking, or playing hot streaks and tendencies or even trying to make it more fun. He's making it a grind. -
QUOTE (scs787 @ Jul 24, 2013 -> 09:10 PM) Assuming we have Lexi and Beckham next year that would be an awfully weak hitting infield sans Dunn/1B/DH brought in next year. Maybe all the years of the Sox being in the top 5 in HRs has spoiled me into wanting more power. Can't blame you for that when you factor in what we had last year with Viciedo ,Konerko, Youk , Beckham , & AJ . Injuries ,old age, bad years and losing AJ and Youk = loads of lost power.

Ok so I'm digging this out of the mothballs. Am I the only one sick of seeing Keppinger bat 6th ? The season is lost . Keppinger is old and a utility guy , hardly ever hits anything in the gaps with power etc etc for his lack of power. I do not understand DeAza at this point not being in the middle of the lineup when he's red hot , or even Tank who hits Detroit well and Phegley for that matter who hits doubles and HR's. Yes I'm tired of the Sox losing and waiting for trades to start. What is the harm in playing with the lineup and putting guys who are supposedly the future in the hot seat and seeing how they respond. -
QUOTE (Dunt @ Jul 24, 2013 -> 06:29 PM) Damn, so he is hitting .421/.450/.684/1.134 since the AS break and he hasn't even been trying?! Yea the scout for the team that wants him. It's all just misinformation.

Rangers supposedly interested in DeAza and Rios according to Sox post game show.

QUOTE (MHizzle85 @ Jul 24, 2013 -> 01:00 PM) Haha, I was just on my way over here to break the unfortunate news but ss2k5 beat me to it. Yep, my road ends here. I just wanted to say thanks to all of ST for having my back throughout this entire deal. I don't think I could ever repay you guys. If there's a silver lining in this, I get to spend the last part of my summer in Chicago & I get to go into U.S. Cellular Field to catch a game live. If the Sox all of a sudden go on a massive winning streak, I will take total blame for it. Damn , that's a shame . Must've been that Bulls tweet when they stopped the Heats streak. I'm sure it was an amazing experience that you will always look back fondly on. Good luck in future endeavors. -
Tigers vs. White Sox 7/24/2013

QUOTE (whitesoxws05 @ Jul 24, 2013 -> 07:22 PM) You have to love the loud, sarcastic cheer when we finally scored. Naturally, Rios followed it up with a double play. Didn't appear to be running hard either. -
QUOTE (witesoxfan @ Jul 24, 2013 -> 07:46 AM) The guess is going to be yes. Honestly, we need to stop pestering bucket for information. Be glad for the info that he does share with us, and let's leave it the luxury it is. He hears more than we do, but it's generally all speculation anyways. I say this with no means to offend bucket by any stretch of the imagination, and we are greatful of any info posters on the site can share with us behind the machinations of the White Sox organization. At the same time, it's still hearsay and most of the time, the deal falls through and nothing comes of it. This reminds me of my entrepreneurship class. You can think of 100 good business ideas. Of those, you may be able to make legitimate progress on 10 of them. Of those 10, you MIGHT get 1 to succeed. It's not a high probablity outcome. You're right about pestering bucket . We need to pester Rock (raines) too

QUOTE (LVSoxFan @ Jul 23, 2013 -> 08:27 AM) I finally watched this last night and all I have to say is what a strange, strange cat. All this talk with him referring to himself/"Hawk" in the third person and then of course the endless stories about baseball HOF-ers from back in the day which we've heard from the booth hundreds of times over the past years. It seems like all the players (non-Sox) he's knowledgeable about are from decades ago. I've never gotten when you've got a major market team with an announcer always dispensing down-home, old-timey southern wisdom in a southern-y accent and constantly firing off cliches like "can of corn" when nobody under 60 would even know what that means. It's time for a change. Time for a poll. I'd say 99% of the posters are under 60. And we all know what it means.
