  1. Hate to see Phegley with the day off after a 3/4 day and lefty out there .
  2. QUOTE (BigHurt3515 @ Jul 21, 2013 -> 11:29 AM) Hopefully someone tries to make a play on Dunn Real tough market for Dunn. Yankees need hitting bad but they're trying to sort out the whole Jeter and A-rod situation so Trafner might be cut loose soon.
  3. Dunn has been impressive for a while now to the point he's even making good contact his last fews starts against lefties.
  4. http://chicago.whitesox.mlb.com/cws/charit...ild_pitches.jsp Should be a fun event for those who can afford it. Konerko, Ventura, Peavy,(unless traded before then) Sale, Beckham , Dunn and Hawk too.
  5. Monday 7/22 10AM Pacific time MLB Network.
  6. QUOTE (Chicago White Sox @ Jul 21, 2013 -> 06:43 AM) Where have you come up with this? Appears to me there's less teams willing to part with prospects and take on salary. Even the Yankees are trying to be fiscally responsible though they have been replaced by the Dodgers as the big spenders of the days. Sox most likely won't deal within the division. Boston and Arizona are clinging to prospects. The Angels seem pretty quiet though they might be a team to spend money but have as bad a farm as the Sox. Giants farm is bad too. Braves farm is bleh. The best farms are Arizona, Tampa Bay, Pittsburgh, Red Sox, Cardinals and Rangers among the contenders. Everyone selling is pretty much targeting those teams. Getting anything significant from any team besides those 6 will be difficult. Nationals ,Yankees, and Dodgers after that. D'backs, TB , Orioles, and Pirates would all require the Sox to chip in more morey than the Sox probably want to. Yankees could use Dunn bad, Hafner is close to being released but the Yanks are dealing with A-Rod and what he might bring to the table. Cards seem pretty content with what they have though Peavy may be a guy they want. Some of those farm teams strength are pitching but the Sox are more likely looking for position talent. Peavy and Crain and Lindstrom probably will be easiest to move. Crain is hurt and Lindstrom won't get us much. Peavy is the one piece the Sox need to get a real good return from. After that its a crap shoot and we're either going to be disappointed with the returns we get or the lack of trades. I think we improve the odds of a better return with a blockbluster or 3 way trades and those are difficult to work out. Boston is loaded with upper level position talent and Hahn already traded Thorton to them but theyre hording those guys. Hoping they loosen up and lose a lot in the next week.
  7. QUOTE (hi8is @ Jul 20, 2013 -> 11:15 PM) Good perspective - it's hard for me not to become a prospect whore and want to start building from within while watching our beloved Sox flirt with a 100 loss season. Thanks for talking me off the ledge but the Trade Peole, Suck More!!! campaign rolls on. Just from a lower ledge or perhaps a view from a 2nd floor window.
  8. QUOTE (Jillian Michaels' Abs @ Jul 18, 2013 -> 02:33 PM) Remember in 2007, the entire roster was up for grabs, but the Sox traded Iguchi and Mackowiak. I doubt a full on gutting of the roster takes place. I'm 100% sure a full gutting of the roster doesn't take place. In fact I'd be shocked if 4 key pieces are traded . My key pieces being Peavy, Santiago, Sale, Quintana, Danks. Rios, DeAza , Viciedo, Alexei, Beckham, Phegley,Crain, Reed, Jones ,Dunn ,Erik Johnson. Edited to add Johnson.
  9. QUOTE (Chilihead90 @ Jul 20, 2013 -> 10:55 PM) We have about 6 guys that I think NEED to be traded in the next 10 days. We better be making at least 3 trades. What 6 are those ?
  10. QUOTE (hi8is @ Jul 20, 2013 -> 10:35 PM) My motto right now, so eloquently stated... Shall be a slogan for the next 11 days: "Trade People, Suck More!!!" Seriously. I want this team gutted with the likes of every Charolette fodder on the field losing as many games as humanly possible. For the first time I sincerely want this team to lose every possible game and have the worst record in baseball. Hell, I'm down to do it all again next year too. Stock up and plan for 2015 - Trade People, Suck More!!! The revolution has begun. /vomit And finally, for those long time soxtalkers wondering - no, I am not drinking again. Just insanely bored with this awful devil laden excuse for a season. I don't think the #1 draft pick will mean anything close to how any upcoming trades go. A draft pick will start in low A ball and start the long climb towards the top. The Sox are looking to get guys close to the top already far removed from the buses of A ball. I'm hoping the Sox go on a roll till the deadline upping everyones trade value as much as possible so we get as many talented pieces as possible. After that I hope whoever is left and who we got in trade kicks ass too. Upping their value for the off season or giving us hope they will produce next year.
  11. QUOTE (hi8is @ Jul 20, 2013 -> 10:27 PM) Totally dead on as always Cali You da man
  12. QUOTE (Jerksticks @ Jul 19, 2013 -> 09:08 PM) He was beautiful. There are plenty of teams that need help in both leagues. Right now they're all trying to pretend they are going with other options and not willing to give up minor league talent in order to squeeze the sellers into accepting less .This is balanced by the sellers saying we have our asking price and we aren't going to settle for less. So the buyers reassess their teams day by day hoping they don't go on any losing streaks in the last 10 days before the deadline. Eventually someone will cave. Sox don't have to move Peavy or Rios but they're in a prime position because they seem to possess the most talent on the market right now. Yet they have the offseason and next year to trade either or both . The iron might never be hotter for the Sox .
  13. QUOTE (South Side Fireworks Man @ Jul 20, 2013 -> 04:41 PM) How did Shingo look? He'll be back in the pen soon.
  14. QUOTE (DirtySox @ Jul 19, 2013 -> 03:43 PM) His time frame is making me a little nervous. Fingers crossed that he can come back, have a few dominant outings and bring back a solid return. I'm also wondering if Reed is being shopped as well despite not hearing much about it. I'd love to be taking calls from other teams as a Hahn assitant. "I'm under orders from Rick to say put an offer on the table and he will prioritize it based on if he thinks it's workable. We're getting a lot of calls now from other teams about (insert players name). "
  15. We're all going to be very anxious in the last few days before the trade deadline. The buyers are all waiting til the last minute to get the best read on their situations. Buyers seem to have the upper hand this year.
  16. QUOTE (TaylorStSox @ Jul 20, 2013 -> 04:12 PM) This game is kind of bumming me out. Some good players that will be gone soon because the team underperformed. I actually liked this team on paper. I know how you feel. Sox hitters are showing signs of life. DeAza, Beckham, Alexei, Dunn, Keppinger and to a lesser extent Rios. Phegley's hitting well. If Viciedo could join them it really isnt as bad a lineup as we have seen. Trouble is ,are these just hot streaks or the real deal and what we can look forward to ? We need a Brett Gardner type at leadoff and DeAza's bat in the middle of the order and some power at 1st or DH and 3rd. It's possible there won't be as many trades as many of us think. Texas seems like one of the few teams willing to trade prospects so we're competing with the Cubs and others to see who will win that battle. Tampa, Oakland don't usually take on salaries. Red Sox looking at internal options 1st. Not likely to deal with the Tigers or Indians. Do Yankees , Cards , Dodgers , Giants, Orioles and D'backs want our guys and willing to pay the price ? Pickings seem slim for sellers.
  17. QUOTE (Jake @ Jul 20, 2013 -> 03:54 PM) Up until this year, his hit tool was the only decent thing about him. Had decent averages and no power He must be jumping for joy on the inside that the care of this organization got him finally healthy.
  18. So far his hit tool is translating well to the Majors. Doubles and HR's were his thing in the minors and is keeping that here.
  19. QUOTE (beautox @ Jul 20, 2013 -> 03:37 PM) solid AB by TJP .278
  20. QUOTE (SoxPride18 @ Jul 20, 2013 -> 03:23 PM) Another good inning for Lindstrom. 7th inning stretch. Root , root, root for the trade bait.
  21. QUOTE (SoxPride18 @ Jul 20, 2013 -> 03:17 PM) You can't fault De Aza really, I would 've done the same thing. It was a good read, Uggla made a hell of a grab. He spun his body. And Olney just tweeted that scouts will be walking away impressed with Peavy.
  22. QUOTE (fathom @ Jul 20, 2013 -> 03:06 PM) Just pull him and be happy with his outing Agreeed good early life on the FB , command iffy, last 3 innings scoreless, FB losing its life.
