New Ballpark Name
QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Aug 25, 2016 -> 01:09 PM) The ironic thing is many fans complaining about the team not being competitive don't want them to even try to be competitive. Ya, this isn't true at all, it's just a silly argument.

New Ballpark Name
QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Aug 25, 2016 -> 12:41 PM) Just because they aren't doing it the way YOU want it done is irrelevant. They have made a ton of moves the last few years, again, they just haven't worked out. They know there is a problem, and are trying to fix it. It just isn't the way that most people want to see. But they are trying. I just have no clue why you keep defending the way this franchise is run.

New Ballpark Name

New Ballpark Name
QUOTE (ChiSoxFanMike @ Aug 25, 2016 -> 12:05 PM) That's true. I almost expected the Cubs to make fun of it, as they have no class, but I was pretty surprised that the Bears commented on it too. Sox fans comprise part of their fanbase, so I'm not sure why the Bears thought it was a good idea to tweet about it when it doesn't have anything to do with them. Whatever. Because 90 percent of this thread is making fun of it too? They know it's not going to hurt their fan base by poking a little fun at something everyone else is too.

QUOTE (DBAHO @ Aug 24, 2016 -> 09:41 PM) Ha, I only just saw it recently on Youtube at NXT Takeover and it was absolutely brilliant. He's already the most over wrestler in the company. I wouldn't go that far but ya from Styles to Nakamura to Roode they've just been hitting homerun after homerun after homerun with the entrance themes.

Miz and Bryan had a pretty f***in awesome worked shoot type promo battle on Talking Smack a few minutes ago. Miz hit DB with one of the most intense promos you'll see and not to be that guy but almost seemed like they were teasing a Bryan comeback.

White Sox Listening on Sale
QUOTE (ChiSox59 @ Aug 18, 2016 -> 11:28 AM) Pretty simple really. Let's say the Sox do some patchwork acquisitions to fill CF, C and DH this offseason like many suspect....signing Carlos Gomez, Jason Castro, and resigning Morneau, for instance. Then the Sox are under .500 come mid-July 2017...they're going to trade off pieces. Beyond those three that presumably would have been signed to one year deals you have.... Melky, Frazier and Lawrie who are all FAs after next year. Trading those three alone (in addition to the patchworks acquisitions) completely changes the complexion of the roster. Gonzales would be moved with only a few months of control left. Shields if someone would take on what the Sox owe him. Robertson will be moved. You're going to get the same type of package for Sale and/or Q next July as you would have this July, but you actually get 30 more starts out of those guys (why I was never for trading them to begin with). It still may be hard to get max value with pitchers of that skill level with 2.5 and 3.5 years of control still left, though. Guessing they'll still be held onto until winter following 2017. At that point, what is left? No reason to trade Rodon or Anderson. They should keep Eaton around as hes very good and cheap. Maybe Abreu will have a big bounce back year and will be worth a ton again, if not, keep him as he's still a value. Selling next season always made more sense than this season, IMO. With so many contracts coming off the books after 2017, it made sense to give it one shot. While I definitely appreciate your opinion and the thought you put into this post, I'm just going to go ahead and disagree with all of it. If you think this organization is going to sell off pieces next trade deadline if they're around .500, you're just fooling yourself my friend.

QUOTE (The Critic @ Aug 17, 2016 -> 08:23 PM) Del Rio and Paige both slapped with 30 day wellness violations. I have to wonder if they did this to protest being drafted to separate brands. Take a substance, get a month off together. Seems possible to me. I wouldn't even be surprised if they're both trying to get released at this point.

White Sox Listening on Sale
QUOTE (ChiSox59 @ Aug 17, 2016 -> 04:32 PM) There are definitely other pieces that could be moved that would help. But then you hurt the MLB team. I get what you're saying tho. Sox are gonna give it one more go around in 2017 - if it fails, I guarantee you this team is completely ripped down next July. I have no idea how you could possibly come to this conclusion.

It's that time of year again...2016 edition
QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Aug 17, 2016 -> 09:47 AM) Well, with Sale and Quintana, I think the point from last year still stands - pitchers need to work. We've said this 2 years in a row now - what would Sale's status be if we'd shut him down at 150 innings last year and then now were thinking of doing that again this year? Even if you just do it one year...you've left the guy in a position where when he is traded and finally is on a competitive team, he'll be in uncharted territory when going past 200 innings. With Sale seemingly becoming a first half pitcher who becomes inconsistent later in the season, working him out seems to have some benefit. Secondly, the union wouldn't allow that. Guys get money based on counting stats - hits, HR, RBI. If you tried to shut down multiple players with no injury reason, you are costing those guys money and you'll face a union grievance. You might be able to get away with it for one guy, but a systematic move is going to get you into trouble. Third...baseball's calendar doesn't help you here. If you wanted to send ANderson and Avi down...the minor league season ends in what, 2 weeks? Guys get called up because the minor league seasons are over and the teams want them to get more work. So, if you want Avi and Anderson to keep getting at bats, the only place for that to hpapen is in the big leagues. Finally, MLB doesn't have the "inactives" part of the roster like the NBA or NFL do - if you tried to shut guys down, you'd still have them in the dugout every day, on your roster, and you can't easily replace them. Once rosters expand you'd have enough players to make that work, but you coudln't make that move until September 1. Basically all of this.

QUOTE (elrockinMT @ Aug 15, 2016 -> 09:53 PM) what makes them think the front office is dysfunctional? Only because there is a losing record at this time? Whwn they say things like this I would want to see concrete examples The better question at this point is why would anyone think the front office isn't dysfunctional?

QUOTE (iamshack @ Aug 13, 2016 -> 09:01 AM) So the company's recruiter called me yesterday to follow-up on my interview. I was expecting them to schedule an in-person interview, but instead they were just keeping me posted and checking in on my thoughts on how things went. Never really had that happen before. How'd you respond? Never heard of something like that before.
