  1. I agree. But I dont think disappointingis the word. Disappointing maybe compared to if they traded him in 2023 but they would have crucified for that. No one should be disappointed in what they get right not for his value right now.
  2. I agree. He isn't worth much right now so they won't get much. That is a value deal. Not much for not much. However, there are going to be people complaining that they should have gotten more.
  3. Never, then the complaints about the players acquired in the trade starts. It will be referred to in perpetuity as an example of how bad the trade was.
  4. Better play through chemistry?
  5. Definitely a possibility. Any new thing will change the muscle use. However, with someone like Davis who has been using it for a year, you wouldn't think it would be.
  6. Anything is possible. Its a league wide issue so all the minds and people smarter than me are working on it. But the most simple explanation is the most probable. They are pushing the limits of what the body can take. So we need to manage the workload. But whats the best way? Not throwing max effort seems the most obvious but that won't happen because we know that is the most effective way to get outs. They are trying limiting pitches and innings. That has limited effectiveness.
  7. One of his tenants was take off some velocity for movement. Probably a better philosophy injury wise.
  8. Exactly. Its amazing what happens with communication.
  9. Its true that limits have made an impact. But the reason its only at the pro level is that is where they emphasize the max effort all the time. The limits in little league are even more restrictive but they are throwing as hard yet. If they didn't throw max effort they wouldn't need the limits as much. The body needs rest. So they limit the innings. They could go to 6 man rotations but there aren't enough good pitchers now.
  10. This is really the issue. The body in general isn't built to do any activity at max effort for any length of time. However people push that limit to find the best performance. With pitching the harder they throw the more likely for outs. So pitching has evolved to this. This will cause injuries. So the issue becomes are there other ways to minimize the risk of injury. Biomechanical analysis is a way to try to minimize the concentration of forces in one area. Strengthen routines and flexibility are others. However, there is going to be an increase in the injury incidence as long as pitchers use max effort for longer periods of time. This is why starter outings are shorter than in the past and teams institute pitch/innings limts.
  11. Limiting injuries and pitching efficiency and effectiveness are the 3 primary goals of biomechanical analysis. However, the teams focus on the pitching effectiveness first efficiency 2nd and injuries last.
  12. Iwas talking with some friends last night and we came up with a new hypothesis that I think one of them will turn into a research project with his MLB team. Many teams are using the biomechanics team as proactive where they see an issue an can work to change the mechanics of a pitcher in season. What if those changes are making the muscles work differently enough that they becoming fatigued quicker and causing the injuries? Changing mechanics in the off season when the muscles have time to adapt is one thing. But what if changing in the season while they are still pitching a full load is too fast of a change and the muscles dont have time to adapt? I have no idea if it is the reason but it makes some physiologic sense. Should be a good study if the team will go for it.
  13. How do you not remember Scotty Fletchers daughter? A good name from the past.
  14. Lift and pull. Back to the Greg Walker hitting coach days that everyone hated.
  15. Let's hope. While not all forearm strains involve an underlying UCL issue. Many do.
  16. Makes sense. What are the two types of players that cost the most money that JR won't pay for: TOR pitchers Power bats They need to draft them.
  17. Sounds like they have a different spins as well. The comment about working with coaches ti distill the information down for the players as opposed to just giving it all to the players is one. The other is the is thebproactice analysis and alterations as opposed to reactive is different.
  18. Thanks. Good article. Really gives you a good look into revamping the development process. Very proactive instead of reactive.
  19. I think that since the game is truly an exhibition for the fans, they should get who they want. It was different for those years where it determined the home team for the world series. But as an exhibition let the fans have fun, its for them.
  20. I'm sure if they had one he would be here. They dont have one yet. Besides the point was that no one picked up the outfielder that they released. Most rebuilding teams dont cut players that are good. Hence if the Sox cut a player, odds are no kne else wants them either. They do have some talented mid-20s catchers but I dont think they will release them.
  21. Its almost like they are rebuilding so they aren't signing any long term players.

He has shown to spend in the middle of the pack so I think he would if not for the lockout.

At least not until after the lockout.
  24. Really? Many must have stayed on the concourse. The seats were not that full.
