There is nothing new here. Same ol' s***.

We should park a carrier in international waters off of Korea and shoot down every missile that they launch.

QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Jul 12, 2006 -> 11:03 AM) Can Minnie Minoso play CF? Probably just as well as Carl Everett.

I always loved the way Aaron Rowand played the game, but at this point in time he would not be much of an upgrade. Rowand would be a 4th outfielder with this team or Anderson would be. Either way, the starting line up would not be upgraded significantly. Certainly not enough to justify Vazquez and Mackowiac for him. Not even close.

Indiana = Most Terror Targeted state in the Union
YASNY replied to Balta1701's topic in The Filibuster
QUOTE(CanOfCorn @ Jul 12, 2006 -> 11:24 AM) Just think if Bobby Knight was still there! Then the terrorists wouldn't f*** with Indiana. -
QUOTE(Rex Kickass @ Jul 12, 2006 -> 11:18 AM) No, I don't think that's where he's going with this. I think where he's going with it is that its hypocritical to oppose abortion (especially in its first trimester - pre-fetus stages) and support IVF where literally dozens of embryos are left to freeze, degrade and die - and not given a full chance at life. Personally, I only support Embryonic Stem Cell Research because of the existence of IVF - which I think is at its core, personally selfish. He was talking about a Christian's view of God's will and how they incorporate it into their lives. I gave an example correlation that can viewed as a Christian not accepting God's will.

QUOTE(NUKE_CLEVELAND @ Jul 11, 2006 -> 07:09 PM) Military life = fun. Plenty of opportunities to babysit grown adults. Mind numbing monotony punctuated by moments of extreme action. And a pretty decent pay scale and raises annually to go with hikes for promotions and time in service. Are they hiring 48 year old men?

QUOTE(southsideirish71 @ Jul 12, 2006 -> 11:15 AM) Israel sends tanks into Lebanon after Hezbollah attack Israel Defense Forces Chief of Staff Dan Halutz told Israeli Channel 10, "If the soldiers are not returned we will turn Lebanon's clock back 20 years Nice to see that Hezbollah couldnt leave this alone. That they had to join the mess. What do you know ... They're swinging that big stick.

This won't pass the senate.

QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Jul 12, 2006 -> 11:09 AM) Only if they express concern over the diseases becoming resistant to antibiotics, because organisms do not evolve by natural selection, so that s*** ain't real. What BS! .... No reasonable Christian denies that evolution occurs. Evolution is one tool God uses to allow adaptation for survival. I just don't believe we are derived from some rodent or marsupial that existed millions of years ago.

I don't know, but if I was surrounded by a bunch of people that wanted to kill me and I had the biggest stick or the most lethal weapon, I think I'd use it. Innocent bystanders be damned.
-
I suppose a Christian going to doctor to keep from dying of say ... pnuemonia ... is also a hypocritical twist of God's will. As was stated earlier, you are really stretching things to fit your own anti-Christian agenda.

Yeah .... Uggla really fits because he cost $25K.

I voted Cub fans to see the results .... but they both suck.

QUOTE(Rowand44 @ Jul 9, 2006 -> 11:23 PM) His career is done. I'm inclined to agree with you.

QUOTE(Rowand44 @ Jul 12, 2006 -> 09:35 AM) Actually, adding Flash to the deal adds a little sense to it. You'd have someone to take Brandon's spot in the bullpen and we'd have that right handed set up man a lot of people want. Move Brandon into the rotation and than the money would be pretty even as well. That being said, I still see no point in adding Aaron Rowand as I think Brian is going to be the better player starting the 2nd half of this season. Not only that, but if we move Brandon to the rotation now, there goes our 'insurance' in case one of starters goes down. Unless, you consider Tracey or Lumsden insurance.

QUOTE(Athomeboy_2000 @ Jul 12, 2006 -> 09:11 AM) Isn't it comon sense not to stand ANYWHERE near someone swinging a bat???? That's a Cub for ya.

I'm finally off of the Podsednik bandwagon (long)
YASNY replied to Greg Hibbard's topic in Pale Hose Talk
This was really a very good thread. Good cases made on both sides of the issue. I'm like most, I think. I think Pods has value to this team. He fills his role adequately. However, I think he'll be elsewhere in '07. -
QUOTE(The-Legend-Of-Pujols @ Jul 11, 2006 -> 10:48 PM) The AL was flat out lucky, thats all I gotta say. Just like the AL was lucky all through interleague play .... and last year's World series .... and last year's ASG .... and the year before that ... etc.

QUOTE(chisoxt @ Jul 6, 2006 -> 10:39 PM) I agree. I also liked the comments written by the readers. While I am enjoying the current run of the White Sox, I don't necessarily see a dynasty. It is too difficult to maintain that high a level for such a long period of time. You are either trading your better prospects to gett better now, and/or, you are not drafting very high either. The comments by the readers were most impressive. They seemed to be well thought out, in general, and no one was flaming anyone else. I'd love to more of that, and less of the contentiousness here at Soxtalk.

I can see the Reds moving Griffey and freeing up some payroll to acquire another starting pitcher.

QUOTE(Colorado Sox Fan @ Jul 10, 2006 -> 05:31 PM) This has a good overview: http://www.baseball-almanac.com/scoring.shtml I respectfully disagree. That's cool. But, for the record, here's my thinking. If say, Dye, had been playing on a sore knee and decided to opt out of the game, I believe most around here would be saying that it was a good decision. You'd hear a lot along the lines of 'He has the team's best interest in mind' and 'It's just an exhibition game and the pennant race is what matters'. In fact, Thome opted out of the HR Derby to insure he didn't injure himself during it. So, you could say Thome also disregarded the fans that pay his salary, etc.
-
After Jermaine played 19 innings yesterday, then travel to Pittsburg, I would be shocked if he was better than mediocre.
-
Manny may be a tool, but not because he wants to stay off his knee for 3 days when he has a chance.
