  1. Not sold on the Roch guy but if nothing else looks like a good thing to have a "safe" option on the board heading into the prep and college season. Not a fan of drafting an average athlete at SS but it's not like Jeter was a quick twitch guy so obviously you can have a helluva career at SS regardless.
  2. We just injected a potential 30 WAR into the next 7 years at no real financial cost. This is a big deal. Don't screw it up.
  3. Or teal gets hurt or regresses and you're once again down to Lee at C. It doesn't make much sense to me to trade any good young player right now. It's not like anybody is being blocked.
  4. this is stupid. just keep developing him. there's plenty of ABs to go around.
  5. That was a fucking bummer. Team really seemed positioned to win back to back pennants and then went like 25-35 after the ASG including some brutal losses in the last two weeks.
  6. He stinks and isn't a flip candidate. No.
  7. Get him on some "vitamins" and flip him at the deadline.
  8. ZIPS just isn't that accurate. I'm sure there are better internal projection systems but Dan himself has talked about its weaknesses. It works fairly well for established MLB players but it has no idea what to do with minor league data. The ZIPS projections for a team full of vets like LA will be fairly accurate. For a team that most guys have under 4 years service time like Chicago not even close.
  9. That is awful there has to be a team option of something? He's not that good.
  10. Whatever else about KW as a GM he had an elite scouting eye. Our scouting at every level fell off under Hahn and continues to this day.
  11. We didn't have a single scout in japan until last week?
  12. I'm not expecting a breakout but FFS at a certain point this isn't OOTP and you just sorta roll with a solid young player that has like a 15% chance of a breakout. He went true talent wise from like a replacement level player to probably weak starter, he's 26, pre arb and you have nobody banging down the gate at his position in a year you ain't contending, the f*** you doing looking to move him? edit: man really annoyed I had to get the edit tag on this post because I had to change role to roll.
  13. If we live in a world as Sox fans where as a bottom 1/4 payroll we are worrying about some 1 WAR guy playing making 7 million a year a few years down the road we are completely cooked, just move to Nashville now.
  14. Gets us to probably a projected 78 or so wins, which you could have a fluke and get to 88 some years. It would be awesome as a fan to have that budget but this is just fantasy. We're a poverty franchise for now.
  15. Some weird takes here even if cynicism is warranted. I for one welcome watching Robert, hopefully motivated, healthy and in a slightly better lineup for another 70 or so games. He's a joy to watch on defense if absolutely nothing else.
  16. Ty. Jim is so much better when he can simply write what he's seeing in a game and not doing whatever the heck it is he does when he's more meta focused. Antonacci is a dude it appears. Be nice to have some middle IF depth.
  17. Depressing. We are going to need like 15 more WAR from SP before we are any good.
  18. If god willing and the creek don't rise in 30 years if I'm 70 and posting here I will DEF be reminding people I was alive for a period 60 years earlier. I'll be making every Sammy Sosa was once a White Sox post possible.
  19. Great thread. Thanks. Most people that start this type of thread think they should be GM. Appreciate the humility here.
  20. Naylor and Bellinger would make us like a 75 win team on paper assuming you make a couple smart pitching adds maybe even get up around 77-78. I'd settle for that.
