Pods
QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Apr 19, 2010 -> 03:34 AM) Thing is it's not even a lovefest. Nobody was thinking about Pods before the season. But since we're off to a bad start and JP is struggling, the crybabies have made it their daily mission to check Royals box scores hoping Pods did well so they can say, "hahahaha. Pods is the s***. Pierre sucks. Way to go, KW!." And as soon as Pods comes back to earth, and he will, the little girls will find something else. Maybe Juan Uribe goes on a hot streak and the crybabies will start a "Uribe" thread tracking his every at-bat so they can say, "hahahahaha. KW strikes again! We could've had Uribe for nothing. But noooo!!" I like the former better. Sure it hurts. But it's a nice feeling when you feel 5-10 pounds lighter. None of that seems necessary.

2010 MLB Catch-All Thread
QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Apr 18, 2010 -> 09:32 AM) That's weak, man. It's like no one remembers the 4.91 era the dude put up over 32 starts with the Yanks his last go around, or the 4.84 he had with the Sox his first year here, or the 4.67 he had with the Sox in his final year here. He dominated the NL East, but in the AL he has never been an above average pitcher. Well, that's not exactly true. I'm pretty sure he dominated the AL at least through the All-Star game in his first year with the Yankees.

QUOTE (GoodAsGould @ Apr 17, 2010 -> 05:16 PM) Im sorry but his question was fairly obvious if you watched the film and rather than comment on my post you could have answered him yourself if you cared that much Luckily I'm awesome and took care of the job for both of you slackers.

QUOTE (Brian @ Apr 17, 2010 -> 04:44 PM) After seeing these new American Airlines commercials, did they put bigger seats in their planes? I'm going to AZ in Sept and may book with them if that is the case. Being 6'5 sucks when flying. Wow, didn't know you were that tall. I thought SoxFan1 was our resident tall freak.

Rubber Mulch
I keep thinking the title says "Rubber Match" and then I wonder for a second why it's in SLaM.

QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Apr 15, 2010 -> 03:00 PM) With the issues Ed Norton had filming the Hulk I think Carlos would be a suitable replacement for any sequels or The Avengers film. I know this has nothing to do with the Sox, but what issues are you talking about?

Ozzie convinced he'd get another job if fired
QUOTE (lostfan @ Apr 16, 2010 -> 08:58 PM) And Ditka was eventually cast aside, and didn't coach again for 5 years (although he got hired as a broadcaster), but when he did get another shot he was a miserable failure and pretty much ruined the illusion that all those teams were good because of him (Buddy Ryan anyone...?). Ditka may have been an icon because of 1985, but really as a coach he wasn't all that... Ditka is the most overrated sports figure in the history of Chicago. Almost ANY coach could have taken that 1985 Bears team all the way. In fact, it's hard to believe that they only won it once, which I think says a lot about Ditka. That championship was due to the defense and Buddy Ryan.

The 'pen has been spectacular
QUOTE (Rowand44 @ Apr 16, 2010 -> 12:52 PM) I expect the pen to be solid all year long. I'm sure Linebrink will have a dip in production in the 2nd half per usual but besides him and Randy Williams everyone else in the pen should be real good all year imo. Not necessarily. I think the change in roles and amount of IP will have a very positive effect on Linebrink. He may actually end up being a pretty good reliever for us, but definitely not worth the money he's being paid.

The 'pen has been spectacular
QUOTE (DBAHO @ Apr 16, 2010 -> 07:07 AM) Seems as if Tony Pena has finally found his groove in Chicago also, although it is very early obviously. He was very good at the end of last season though IIRC. Ever since they picked up Peña, I have been waiting for him to take a Thornton turn. It makes sense that it took almost a full season, though. Well, hopefully.

Brillance of Buerhle
I may be wrong, but hasn't he thrown a couple of games where he faced the minimum, too? Other than the perfect game and no-hitter, I'm pretty sure he pitched a game against the Indians in which he faced the minimum (when the story came out that he used some new cream on his arms that made his skin burn, so he pitched even quicker than normal). And he may have even done it another time. That has to be some kind of a record.

2010 AL Central Catch-All
QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Apr 16, 2010 -> 04:27 PM) I said I respect the Twins. But Milkman used the word "afraid." They just don't scare me like a NY or Tampa (yes, I meant Tampa) would. TB is one of the top 4 teams in baseball, IMO. If they were in the central, it'd be a wrap. I just think the Twins slurping around here is getting out of hand a little. It's like some do it intentionally just to take back-handed slaps at the Sox. I'd bet (I can't prove this obviously, as it's a hypothetical) that if we were to switch rosters with them, 90% of the board would be complaining that we have an awesome lineup and average pitching. On the other hand, you're responding to other people's posts as though there is no reason to think the Twins are a threat with statements like "No team with Scott Baker and Jon Rauch as their #1 starter and closer is going to run and hide from anyone." I'm saying that they most definitely deserve to be taken seriously, especially with their track record in the division and specifically against us. Sorry if the word "afraid" changed the entire meaning of what I was getting at.

2010 AL Central Catch-All
QUOTE (SoxAce @ Apr 16, 2010 -> 04:11 PM) You say your not respecting the Twins cause of the same number of playoff appearances as us, yet you put Tampa in the discussion whose had only 1 playoff appearance (albeit a W.S. appearance) in the last 5 years. I'm going to assume you meant Boston. I know damn well I'm respecting a team who has beaten us and the Tigers for the division (not to mention always stays competitive) in the past whose overall talent was much superior over the years. They have earned that right even with the non scare factor.. they do their thing. Not saying they are gonna win this thing, but it wouldn't shock me if they did especially with that offense and Liriano looking real good early. (still think he'll have a b****in year, ala 3.50-3.75ish, just won't be as sexy with the Ks per 9 like he used to be) Still wouldn't put it past them to acquire a SP or even a BP guy (or a 3B) by the deadline. And yes J4L, I've been messin with you a bit lately it seems. Exactly.

2010 MLB Catch-All Thread
QUOTE (MHizzle85 @ Apr 15, 2010 -> 01:38 PM) Except he's got a history of s***ting himself on a big stage...hell a stage that even remotely matters. Javy Vasquez sucks. Plain & simple, he may get a good amount of strikeouts but hes no more than a #4 to me. The White Sox also have a track record of the crappy, inconsistent offense they've shown this year.

2010 AL Central Catch-All
QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Apr 15, 2010 -> 03:07 PM) Yeah, a whole 10 days into the season. If Liriano establishes himself as a legit #1, then, yes, we're in some trouble. I don't see that happening, though. I don't know how you can sit there and act like you're not afraid of the team that consistently wins this division, even when they seemingly have less talent on paper.

Rubber Mulch
QUOTE (Tex @ Apr 15, 2010 -> 06:39 PM) Yep, I used it once. It may have improved from the early version I used. My biggest problem was the dog enjoyed playing with it. So he would run, grab a chunk and toss it around the yard . . . twenty or thirty times a day . . . each time with a different piece . . . every f***ing day . . . then you hit it with a mower. The dog?!

AND THAT'S A WHITE SOX WINNER!
QUOTE (bmags @ Apr 15, 2010 -> 12:07 AM) in addition to the fact that thursday nights people are more of a going out night. I watched it a bar. It was glorious. Even Donny Lucy got a double. I wasn't so worried about last night, he seemed on. But, clearly, getting men on base=good. I want to ride Andruw Jones hot streak. But so far so good. Let's continue it tomorrow. Last night was Wednesday, though.

April Catch All White Sox Thread
QUOTE (justBLAZE @ Apr 14, 2010 -> 05:41 PM) Please do, there's also 2 or 3 threads that have to do with the lineup that could be merged into one. Seriously, all of those "I think the lineup should look like this" or "this lineup will solve the problem" threads need to have one catch-all. There must be two new threads like that every single day.

I assume you just mean that the season is 162 games, but when you get to about 50 games in, you can probably start talking about firing/demoting/etc.

Fire Ozzie
QUOTE (Y2HH @ Apr 14, 2010 -> 08:29 AM) No, no, and no. You got it all wrong. When Mark Buehrle pitches a perfect game or a no hitter, it's because of how awesome he is, opposing batters didn't have a chance. When someone does it to us (or comes close), it's because our offense sucks and our manager/hitting coach need to be fired! It's called Soxtalktality -- a blend of group think from Sox talk and the mentality it creates. Our offense does suck.

A game where the Sox score 8 runs, followed by a game where they get 1 hit. This team is as consistently inconsistent as it has ever been.
