  1. QUOTE (PlaySumFnJurny @ Apr 12, 2010 -> 04:16 PM) WWCD? What's the C for?
  2. QUOTE (SoxAce @ Apr 11, 2010 -> 10:22 PM) It seems Mark won't be the one "wearing it" as far as our pitchers getting a win this season. That job has belonged to Danks for two seasons, and seems to be continuing this year.
  3. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Apr 11, 2010 -> 03:28 PM) In Curaçao, in the Netherlands Antilles. Yes, and I guess that made me assume he would have some sort of accent.
  4. Nice win, we need some of those things to go our way after the last four games. Did Hardy run through a sign, or did their third base coach really send him there? I mean, that was terrible. Also, I didn't know Andruw Jones spoke English so well.
  5. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Apr 10, 2010 -> 07:06 PM) Ozzie is a little thin-skinned for an MLB manager. He ate up all the genius talk in 2005 and now even Oney yaps about how the White Sox knew nothing about winning until the Guillens came to town. Of course Ozzie's .525 winning pct. looks pretty good against Jerry Manuel's .515, even though that's only 1.5 extra wins a year, but pales in comparison to Gene Lamont's .551. There are very few managers/coaches/GMs that aren't eventually going to be called an idiot by a lot of people. Ozzie is no exception. He shouldn't be popping off, and he also shouldn't resign. Its 5 games. See how you feel a month from now. I still feel if they don't hit soon, KW's trigger is going to be a lot quicker than normal considering he wasn't entirely sold on the current plan in the first place. The Guillens, that's hilarious. What could possibly make his sons think they had absolutely anything to do with any of the success that the team experienced in the last few years?
  6. QUOTE (Reddy @ Apr 10, 2010 -> 07:10 PM) they haven't been great. As a whole, mediocre at worst.
  7. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Apr 10, 2010 -> 05:39 PM) Possible relations between thyroid problems and HGH use. Wasn't there a pretty big player who recently had thyroid problems? EDIT: Other than Reyes, that is.
  8. QUOTE (Thunderbolt @ Apr 10, 2010 -> 04:14 PM) I'll correct myself. He could never hit, that well. I think that's fair. He's just always been an elite defender, never a great hitter. But yeah, it was wrong for me to speak in absolutes. Sith.
  9. Plus you have Hawk s***ting on the bullpen when they haven't been bad.
  10. QUOTE (flippedoutpunk @ Apr 10, 2010 -> 03:02 PM) wow i dont know how to feel about this PPV... ****spoiler alert***** It doesn't bother me, but there's a spoiler tag that you'll probably want to use.
  11. QUOTE (The Gooch @ Apr 10, 2010 -> 02:14 PM) Nobody is saying that. What people are trying to say is why did we pay Pierre this much when Pods would have been cheaper and an equal if not slightly better product I gotta say, I wanted Pods gone, but he at least has a chance to drive runs in. I can't see Pierre doing that too well. It wouldn't surprise me if he had less than 10 at the end of the year.
  12. QUOTE (dmbjeff @ Apr 10, 2010 -> 01:30 PM) Did I go color blind? All the posts today look black and not green. This team is fine, it isn't hitting very well right now, but they are only 4 games in. The SP has been good and will keep us in nearly every game and when we get a little bit more luck from the bats, we will be fine. Relax people. Just saying that the offense will come around won't make it so. Yes, the pitching will keep us in games all season long because there are a lot of quality pitchers on the staff. The problem is that the offense will suck. At it's peak, it can be slightly more than mediocre. It's filled with a bunch of mediocre/crappy players and a couple of good ones. We're going to see a lot of 1-0, 2-1, and 3-1 losses this season. EDIT: And as I type this, Juan Pierre makes a mistake in the outfield (he really brings nothing to the table) and we bring in Linebrink. God, this sucks.
  13. QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Apr 10, 2010 -> 12:42 PM) Yeah, I'd definitely have Danks in there. It's a shame how many wins he's been screwed out of in his short career. And it continues into this season.
  14. QUOTE (T R U @ Apr 9, 2010 -> 11:51 PM) And it may very well always be like that with him, and wont matter where he plays on the field.. It seemed as though he didn't have quite as many brain farts at 2B, and it might be because he didn't get as many chances.
  15. QUOTE (T R U @ Apr 9, 2010 -> 11:48 PM) Well to be fair, there have been a lot of stupid people that have been very good at sports.. Definitely, but we've been seeing the same thing from Ramirez since he came here. EDIT: You can tell that his lack of focus even wears on Hawk, which is saying something.
  16. QUOTE (T R U @ Apr 9, 2010 -> 11:46 PM) 4 games is a VERY small sample size for what the season offers If this is the same crap after this first month, ill step out onto the ledge too ill edit in the starting pitching has been great so far and the games close, at least were not gettin trounced like the Astros.. if you wanna see a really bad team with nothing, watch one of their games.. It's frustrating because the offense has seemed to pick up right where it left off last season. In fact, it feels like it's been the same offense since the downturn in 2006.
  17. QUOTE (T R U @ Apr 9, 2010 -> 11:43 PM) You can hate on Ramirez mental lapses all you want but you have to face it the guy looks amazing there sometimes, thats more than likely the reason they elected to keep him there over Beckham He'd probably be great (at least very good) if it weren't for the mental lapses. The problem, though, is that he seems to be a real idiot. I don't mean that in the generic sense. I really think he's a very stupid person and that he can't be taught to focus more.
  18. QUOTE (T R U @ Apr 9, 2010 -> 11:39 PM) too much over reaction.. Ramirez more than likely cost us this game with his mental mistakes.. maybe we still dont win if he doesnt have those 2 errors, but ide like to think otherwise.. Can't we try to switch Beckham and Ramirez?
  19. QUOTE (South Side Fireworks Man @ Apr 9, 2010 -> 11:33 PM) Apart from the pitching staff, this team is bad. Very bad. That's what's so frustrating - it's a terrible waste of an exceptional pitching staff. And it's specifically what the manager wanted. I agree with you completely, and the bold part should be emphasized.
  20. QUOTE (SockMe @ Apr 9, 2010 -> 11:38 PM) The offense is TOO BAD to blame Ozzie. HE HAD A PART IN CREATING THAT OFFENSE.
  21. QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Apr 9, 2010 -> 11:34 PM) He pitched well. But the lead-off walk to Mauer was a killer. I just can't stand lead-off walks. To be fair, it's Joe Mauer. Plus he had to deal with the ump calling balls on two possible strikes that would've ended the inning, and then Alexei being a terrible fielder.
  22. QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Apr 9, 2010 -> 11:25 PM) Sports fans are some of the dumbest creatures on earth. I don't blame Ozzie at all for that. I'm sure there are quite a few idiots out there, but it's no reason for him to be saying those things. And I hope you mean "dumb" in the sense of baseball, as I'm sure Ozzie knows more than most in that regard. I'd wager that quite a lot of people are more intelligent than him, though.
  23. QUOTE (South Side Fireworks Man @ Apr 9, 2010 -> 11:23 PM) Ozzie should be fired for telling his company's customers to take their business to the competition. Also, I thought I heard him say something on CTL before the game about "idiots" that think they know baseball and something like "that's why they have to get up at 4:00 in the morning and I have this bleepin' job." Very condescending to the fans. Couple this with his poor eye for talent, his poor in-game managing and his inability to make out a decent lineup and I think he has finally worn out his welcome. I liked Ozzie but his time has come. He wanted this mess of a roster so now he has to take the blame for wasting this great pitching staff. Yes, it's early, but if he's going to insult the fans who are upset at his team's poor performance it's already time for him to go. Maybe some fans are overreacting, but you don't insult your fans. It's ridiculous that he would say that.
