  1. This. Just that much is a borderline playoff team. Near their ceilings is a slam dunk playoff team.
  2. According to Heyman.
  3. Are you saying Jesus Christ can't hit a curve ball?
  4. This is the least surprising ever after how the rules fail went in season 1.
  5. Again, it isn't a failure to not be able to truly understand someone who you have no cultural connection to. There are lot of subtleties and such that are lost in translation. We all saw what happened going from Rickey to Tony. After reading about the fractures by culture in the locker room it isn't hard to wonder why the Latin players seemed to be on a planet of their own according to what was out there. It is obvious whatever was going on alienated that group which also contains a large portion of these teams stars. What was happened, also obviously wasn't working. It makes absolute sense to do something to reach them if you want to salvage the wreck of Tony LaRussa's ship. Look, being able to relate to the people who work for you is a large part of being an effective leader. If you are unable to understand the largest part of their mental make up (where someone comes from) you are already behind in relating to that person. They didn't have to sign someone just for their ability to speak Spanish, yet when so much of the team is of some Latin origin, what a huge help it would be.
  6. That management could understand its employees being a bad thing is such an odd take.
  7. 20k X 6 is 120k, not 1.2m
  8. If Jose gets $75 million, Trey Turner is getting 500m.
  9. And there is nothing out there telling the actual story, so it isn't hard to imagine.
  10. Like any other time people are told it was a heart problem or blockage or whatever. But nothing, and media wouldn't ask. It's weird.
  11. No one has really said yet.
  12. Baseball today is all 100% all of the time. Guys throw harder than ever, swing harder than ever, lift harder than ever, train harder than ever etc. The upside of not training in the offseason is your body does get to rest. So while the bigger/stronger/faster of today is real, so are repetitive stress injuries because of it. Ligaments and tendons can only support so much.
  13. I don't doubt there was something wrong. But when you put that with at least 3 cross country trips in the next two weeks, participating in ceremonies, but not press conferences, or the ability to work going forward. Just seems odd that something would be so immediate and a huge deal, but also require no immediate life changes too.
  14. If he really had a problem, he made the right choice by waiting it out. Tony washed out in less then 2 seasons and he got his team back.
  15. Honestly? The details of Tony leaving don't make sense. Tony came into work and was apparently so bad off that he had to go RIGHT NOW. The circumstances and details of what and how have been kept secret. Even the players didn't know. But then days later he is making cross country plane trips to Arizona, Oakland and Chicago over the next couple of weeks. Bad enough that he had to leave right away, bad enough that he couldn't continue to do the job, but also good enough for almost immediate cross country travel, and participating in these ceremonies. Hell his end of season presser he sounded more coherent than he had all year. With all of this, no disclosure of what was the trigger, what were the symptoms, and what was the diagnosis. Also literally no media asked any questions about it. Almost like they already knew. It doesn't add up.
  16. I know people feel Rick Hahn never tells us anything. He does, he just dresses it up and hides it.
