  1. If we still had Maggs, our line up wouldn't include him for a while...
  2. "We are the World" is going to be revived for Tsunami Aid. http://www.cnn.com/2005/SHOWBIZ/Music/01/2...reut/index.html
  3. Of course Maggs hasn't worked out for the Tigers yet :rolly
  4. QUOTE(DBAH0 @ Jan 25, 2005 -> 09:32 AM) If Grilli is released, my guess would probably be Hermanson, unless B-Mac showed he was ready, but I don't want him up here until 2006 at the earliest. Diaz isn't going to succeed as a major league starter with only 2 good pitches. I was really thinking Grilli is the only option, as both Munoz and Diaz's futures are both in the pen. Unless someone else steps up out of the minors, Grilli is our 6th starter right now. Even if you want to look at Hermanson, he would have to spend a month or so getting his pitch count up to be a starter, which would be tough to do midseason.
  5. Jay Leno's Harley is now up for auction. Right now the highest approved bid is $25,100. http://members.ebay.com/ws2/eBayISAPI.dll?...=JayLeno-Harley
  6. QUOTE(mreye @ Jan 25, 2005 -> 08:51 AM) When was the last time SS only posted 20 times? His wedding day? I didn't post at all last Saturday... then again I was at Soxfest
  7. QUOTE(ChiSoxyGirl @ Jan 25, 2005 -> 08:48 AM) The UG advisors here are pretty good--at least for the psych major. All the kids get a checklist and a meeting when they declare, and a mtg/year after that. Plus the requirements are always on the web. No sympathy. Yeah if that's the case, no sympathy is deserved.
  8. 38 straight wins+19 straight wins=1 loss as the Trib puts it... Lets see your predictions for tonight.
  9. Joe Borchard was destined for Charlotte long before the signing of Iguchi. The Sox have at least 6 guys who can play OF (Dye, Pod, Everett, Gload, Perez, Rowand) without even counting Willie Harris in that list. Joe B will be the starting RF for the Knights.

  11. Sure the government isn't big enough, lets add more people to muck up the wheels of democracy even more... God no. I was just reading yesterday where they approved top staffer pay up to over $150,000 for staff aids. The VP of the US only makes $180,000. The last thing we need to do is create more of these positions that contribute nothing to the day to day life of people. If you want to bloat the government, at least make it for something that contributes to society. Build roads, hire teachers, shore up social security, hire more cops etc. Don't hire more people to stand around and argue philosophy on my dime.
  12. Irony-the title of this thread, and its contents.
  13. QUOTE(Gene Honda Civic @ Jan 24, 2005 -> 11:50 PM) I like your thinking Wite... There are only a handful of teams that would bother claiming Grilli, and I don't know who has room. This is exactly the time of year where he would slip through without any problem. The problem being if El Duque or someone else goes down, who becomes the 5th starter?
  14. QUOTE(ChiSoxyGirl @ Jan 24, 2005 -> 09:54 PM) Why do students think that, "I need this class to graduate" is a compelling reason to be let into a full course? Your poor schedule planning does NOT mean that I am going to reorganize my life--or break the rules. Is it poor planning or poor advising? I have seen more than once where bad advise from an adviser lead to these kind of problems.
  15. QUOTE(EvilMonkey @ Jan 24, 2005 -> 11:40 PM) While I dislike the law REQUIRING us to wear seatbelts, I got used to wearing mine early on when I owned a Jeep CJ-5. I took the doors off in spring, and kept them off until it snowed. Driving with no doors, better wear seat belts. And I dislike my insurance rates exploding for people who don't want to wear their seat belts. Call it even.
  16. QUOTE(santo=dorf @ Jan 24, 2005 -> 09:33 PM) What about posters like Ncorgbl and Hotsoxchick? Their names are in red and you can't access their profiles. Do they count towards the number of members? They were deleted upon request. They don't count towards the 1919 either. And I am not quite sure why you are so touchy Ross? A membership number saids a lot about how popular a site is, why are you giving me the 3rd degree over it?
  17. QUOTE(Texsox @ Jan 24, 2005 -> 09:22 PM) I'll take a shot at it. Excellent. Show all of these youngins how its done
  18. QUOTE(Jabroni @ Jan 24, 2005 -> 08:04 PM) There are a few guys from the 40-man roster that could be designated for assignment to make room for Iguchi... Pedro Lopez Paulino Reynoso Matt Smith Sean Tracey I doubt anyone would claim these guys. I would almost guarentee you that 3 of those 4 guys would get claimed in a heartbeat.
  19. QUOTE(Texsox @ Jan 24, 2005 -> 09:12 PM) Damn, at least get your own name right. it's southsider2k5 the S is not capitalized this year. Its capitalized in my own mind... its easier not to capitalize when I log in
  20. Rooting for the Eagles, but resigned to fate...
  21. Geesh, the least you guys could do is get my info right... Its Southsider2k5 And its 38.6 posts per day
  22. QUOTE(santo=dorf @ Jan 24, 2005 -> 07:40 PM) Incorrect. Soxtalk has 1919 registered members. Close to 100 people have been banned. If you look at some of the newer posters' member numbers, they are above 2000. Spod=ratings' member # is 2006. At least I think I know what I'm talking about. Depends on your definition of member #1919... The reason the newer members are over 2000, is because we had a registration glitch for a while, and people registered upto 10+ names while not realizing that they were doing so. Most of those were deleted, while still having those member numbers held. In reality, there are only 1919 names held on Soxtalk, including the banned numbers.
  23. QUOTE(Beastly @ Jan 24, 2005 -> 07:36 PM) The whole thread was to capture that we as a sox community share the same faith about baseball among other things, and that everyones done one hell of a job at this site and its amazing what a few people can do for the boards. Heck I think 1919 members in 2 1/2 years says a lot about that.
  24. Damn the Bulls just put a HUGE run on the Hawks. Bulls are up 24 points now right before the half.
  25. I just found it interesting that we just registered member #1919.
