  1. Well, maybe we are seeing the reason Getz didn't go all in on 26.
  2. It could also be they snuck up on some teams, and that isn't happening anymore while simultaneously seeing half the roster run out of gas in their first MLB season.
  3. It would be way better if they had the same two halves in reverse. Peaking late is way better than early
  4. 100% yes. A bad year in the playoffs is way better than an embarrassing collapse.
  5. Honestly if the city gets back this land in some form, it might actually be better as a whole for Bridgeport overall.
  6. If fans didn't want it, there wouldn't be a market for it. Even if all of this comes together, it might take 5 to 10 years to build that type of following.
  7. Controversial opinion: Even if the Sox fall out of the playoffs, it's not the fault of Will Venable. He's managing what is in front of him. I think they kind of outplayed themselves to some extent early (guys way out performing their talents, luck such as 11 walkoffs, and a really awful division) and you are seeing some regression to where they probably should have been all along. I do worry most about the pitching going forward, as it pretty much all regressed this year, except for a couple of guys. To have Shane Smith, Dutch Schultz, Hagen Smith, and Christian Oppor regress they way they did was a worst case scenario, and I am not sure who you are building towards going forward. The offense has surprisingly been way ahead of the curve, despite some second half regressions that may well be due to the grind of a first long season ever. Getting starters out of Ant and Chase is huge, and you have some guys like Caleb coming in behind, plus Roch in the wings. Even if you do lose a guy like Colson to regression, we actually have some depth coming behind.
  8. Venable is managing like it is the playoffs, in that he isn't going to guys he doesn't trust, and trying to extend the ones he does. Hence a dude like Newcomb staying out to die.
  9. That arc is pretty much his vibe in The Bear so far, and it is done spectacularly. We will see how it finishes.
  10. No idea, just interesting that these are being posted.
  11. Hopefully he can carry this into starting next year, because we need A LOT of starters innings.
  12. I would guess so too, but damn I would be so down for a baseball boat party.
  13. I did pick up The Bear, and haven't been disappointed. It was kind of Breaking Bad-ish in that it took about a season to get going, but the cast is incredible, and they do such a good job with the characters, their tics, as well as what breaks them. Again LOVE the cast. Great story telling. I am about halfway through season 4 so far. Also huge shoutout for Jeremy Allen White as the lead. He is sooooo good at this role. He did it similarly for stretches of Shameless, (thinking of when Lip went to college and was working directly with the professor) but building a character around that totally worked.
  14. I can't wait to hear Schiff bellow "STAAAAAND UP PERFECTLY FINE FIELD!!!"
  15. I mean I have no doubt that some businesses will suffer. There is Grandstand and a couple of bars that get mentioned for sure. But I do think things are being exaggerated too.
  16. I can't help but think, with as little stuff as there is around the baseball experience, what exactly are they losing? I mean if you work at the park, you can still work at the park 2.5 miles away. There isn't some big ballpark experience of shops that depend on the team, which is the whole point of trying to actually create a ballpark village. I know there are a few shops around the team, but it isn't anything like other teams, and I feel like they are trying to have two things be true at once, which can't.
  17. The take out slide is an accepted part of baseball. Elbows the crotch are not. At that point you are just asking to get one of your guys hurt for not even a real baseball play.
  18. The play IS baby soft. If you want dirty, roll the fielder on the slide like a real baseball play. This is fake tough. Like I am trying, but also not. It's like sticking your leg out on a screen. There is a right way to do things and trying to wing someone isn't it. Be better.
  19. Guessing is the same as the rest of the AAA guys. They are good in AAA, and get their ass kicked in the majors. It's the same thing with Cannon.
