The hubris, arrogance, entitlement, or whatever adjective you want to use, really hits a nerve with me. I know it's more so than other people's reaction. @SoxAcemakes a great point that everyone else is gone and my guess is the culture has been improved. Thirteen years is about the sentence that most offenders would have served in prison. Maybe it's time to put them on probation and jump back on the bandwagon.

It's another reason I've stepped back further away.

I believe there are two very different groups of players at work here. AAA prospects that don't have any MLB experience and guys who have MLB experience but their talents have diminished. We've seen guys get called up for the first time and struggle. A veteran like Hamilton who has been there is a better bet to not s%*# the bed at Yankee Stadium than some 21 year old without experience. Of course you also need to be developing talent, either to trade for MLB ready players or eventually promote them to the club. Great franchises manage to do both.

Possibilities Ignore AAA and make no moves in their roster. Rick Make brilliant moves that add depth and create a system that produces MLB players annually.

Rocky is still around and seems like an asshole. But your point is very fair. I regret posting earlier in a thread that should be all positive. I just read The Athletic article that made that point and it was fresh in my mind. I don't fault anyone for cheering them on. It's different for me being so far out of market and coaching my own team from September to May. The Hawks, and by extension the NHL, are easy to ignore for me.

Patrick Ewing with the frozen envelope to the Knicks was another great one. If the NHL was going to rig the draft, this is the outcome they would want. In a sports championship starved market, winning heals everything.

Except for that whole sexual assault cover up. I'm still not ready to embrace the franchise.

I remember reading his biography when I was in school and supposed to be doing something else.

This made me realize something. Next year there will be some guys in Sox uniforms and I'm going to cheer for them. Some I would have selected for the team, others I would have not selected. So if I know I'm going to cheer, why worry or complain about the process? s%*# players, all stars, it doesn't make a difference.

Being twenty years removed from the city I've gone from hating, to not caring, to currently I have Cub fan friends and don't mind seeing them happy. I realized those Cub fans are the same folks sitting next to be at Bears/Bulls/Blackhawk games. We have more in common than I do with the Astros fans around me. I doubt that would have happened if I didn't move. It would be easier for me to root for the Rangers than the Cubs.

@Harry Chappas excellent summary. Up until a few years ago I would have been happy to watch a MLB game. I went to games from the mid 70s to the late 1990s regardless of how well the team was doing. It was baseball played by some of the best players in the planet. For the next couple decades I followed the team closely, watched a lot of games on TV, and attended several every time I was in town. Then I finally understood how epically horrible this franchise is. I have no more positive vibes to contribute. If the team creates some positive energy I will gladly sip.
