Mariotti on the Cubs
QUOTE(Chisoxrd5 @ Apr 9, 2005 -> 10:00 AM) Mariotti likes it better when all of our teams lose, give him more material... STOP READING HIS GARBAGE!!!!! It's good stuff. Believe it or not, and despite all the World Series Trophy's at the Cell, not everything the Sox and Cubs do is perfect.

U.S. Gov't Covering Up Mad Cow disease
Hey, so every packing plant around the world should have the same number as Canada? When there was on outbreak in England, I didn't read Canadian inspectors saying their inspections were lax because they should have the same as England? Didn't the US inspectors find some first and make in public?

QUOTE(Nokona @ Apr 9, 2005 -> 03:10 PM) You're damn right it's going to be front page news, how many Republicans in politics are openly gay? How many are openly hetero? Look at Ryan. To overconpensate, he demonstrated that even if it is with two or three females, it doesn't help with the party.

Post office wants a rate increase
In defense of the US Postal service it is easily the best on the world and amazingly cheap for everyone. They can load up an airplane for New York to Chicago mail. But imagine that I can mail a letter in Los Fresnos, Texas and send it to Sleeping Bear, Alaska for .37 I'll bet that may be the only letter in the history of the world between those two places. What really saves us is the bulk mailers. When you receive three or four pieces of direct mail, that pays the bills every day, the first class stuff is subsidized, in part, by the business mail.

BMAC per rotoworld.
I see Brandon coming up to replace our 3 or 4 before Garland. This is the certain kiss of death for Garland, but I feel really, really, good about him for 2005. He's going to win 16-18 this season and be our #2. Yet will be pitching #4 in the playoff rotation. Am I getting far enough ahead of myself there

How would you react?
QUOTE(The Critic @ Apr 9, 2005 -> 01:09 PM) YES, a hockey-crazed woman is a VERY strong lure.....even if she does like the Carolina Hurricanes...... The new wife is figuring without a hockey season, there could be some holding, high sticking, hooking, game misconduct, dare I say spearing, going on. And then there is the whole NASCAR action with cars that have the back seats taken out for more room :rolly

QUOTE(Soxnbears01 @ Apr 9, 2005 -> 10:54 AM) is it wrong that this useless stat makes me feel more confident Hell, I read it in a Minny newspaper. Gotta love that they are thinking about stuff like that.

QUOTE(The Critic @ Apr 9, 2005 -> 12:17 PM) Yeah, but also true is this: Old Friend + New Wife With An Agenda = HE GAWN! It sounds to me like Brian has made attempts, and for whatever reason...(coughcoughfianceecoughcough), this friend is dusting him. If the friend was a stand-up guy, he'd have already searched Brian out by now to explain what's going on. To have not even sent an invitation by now is VERY telling. Time to file this friend away, I'm afraid. good points one and all. Plus we know what a mean husse Queen is, maybe the new wife is worried that Queen just has too much magnetism for her honey.

Great Omen
The past three seasons the winner of the opening game of the opening series between the Twins and the Sox has gone on to win the division.

After a terrible Spring
I've become a huge Clemens fan these past two seasons. Down here, I see a lot of Astros and Rangers coverage and have a new appreciation for Clemens.

How would you react?
QUOTE(Queen Prawn @ Apr 9, 2005 -> 09:22 AM) That's my opinion on the whole matter. I don't think Brian really wants to go at this point anyhow. Sad thing was that up until about a month or two ago, Brian had wanted to ask this friend to stand up. Not he isn't even sure he wants to invite him. See it keeps spiraling. Leave a message with all the info, all the questions. Don't guess what the other person is thinking and feeling. It takes a long time to make an old friend.

Colon Powell wouldn't have put up with this
Clinton "Hey Dubya, that's the waitress from the hotel that told me to try the quickee!" Bush "Idiot, she said quiche, they eat that here" Clinton "I'm up for that, hee hee"

Colon Powell wouldn't have put up with this
Clinton "Dubya, when is the plane leaving, I may have a meeting?" Bush ~~ I'll just cover up with my hands, maybe no one will notice, damn she smells fine. Think about baseball. Condi "Where the hell is Clinton's left hand? Bastard."

How would you react?
QUOTE(Queen Prawn @ Apr 9, 2005 -> 08:30 AM) Like I said, Brian has tried calling at least a dozen times since January and no answer or return call. It just pisses me off because they used to be best friends. use to be is the key word. Any chance the friend is embarrased and expecting Brian to be pissed??

Sox @ Twinkies: 4/9/05 Game Thread
QUOTE(BridgeportHeather @ Apr 9, 2005 -> 02:19 AM) Totally agree on that. Back in the 20s and 30s, a "bullpen" might've consisted of 1 or 2 pitchers (that's IT), because starting pitchers went the distance (even throwing 150+ pitches) most of the time! I think the current decline in arm strength goes back to the pussification of pitchers way back in Little League, and climbs into the high school and collegiate levels as well; when they finally make it to the pros, they simply do not have the capacity to pitch like their predecessors did. pussification of pitchers You also have kids throwing junk earlier and earlier, kids trying to reach 90 and 100 mph on the gun, more weight training, more leagues, more games, and more specialization. High School athletes use to play 3 sports as a norm, now they play one sport year round. Those rules regarding rest and innings are balanced by kids playing 12 months a year.
