  1. Government Saves!
  2. QUOTE (G&T @ May 25, 2010 -> 01:14 PM) I think there are hard drives that can do that. I think you just need a hard drive that reads memory cards. There is no memory card in the Flip Camera, just a flip out USB connector. I was trying to figure out if there was a way to connect the Flip to my cell phone and use my data connection to upload to a file sharing site. A net book is starting to seem like the answer.
  3. QUOTE (Jenksismyb**** @ May 25, 2010 -> 01:39 PM) I read that as there were 460,000 living in Arizona in 2009 and another 241,000 crossed the border there, but many kept walking north looking for jobs, etc. Many have regular seasonal employment up north.
  4. QUOTE (Jenksismyb**** @ May 25, 2010 -> 01:02 PM) S'all good. Eventually we'll all be on the government pay roll anyway. Who needs a job? Gimme Gimme Gimme! If a lack of government was the answer, Somalia would be the fastest growing economy in the world right now.
  5. Drop the puck, let's get it going . . .
  6. How many hundreds of billions of dollars is this going to cost us?
  7. QUOTE (Y2HH @ May 25, 2010 -> 11:50 AM) Netbook. that's what I am thinking. I wish I could just hook up the Flip Cam to an external hard drive.
  8. I really do not want to carry a full laptop on vacation, but I need to store some video shot from a Flip Cam and perhaps check email, driving directions, etc. I am researching something small, hopefully cheap, and convenient to use. We will be spending some time backpacking and it will be locked up in a trunk for days or a week at a time.
  9. QUOTE (knightni @ May 24, 2010 -> 07:39 PM) Are they watching America: The History of Us? Schools can apply for a free DVD copy. Working on it for next year.
  10. Don't Ask, Don't Tell was a small step in the right direction, I'm glad to see we are finally finishing the journey.
  11. We were studying the industrial revolution and the kids were struggling to remember a few of the inventions we talked about, cotton gin, mechanical reaper, textile machine, and steam engine. They had no problem remembering the first text message lol
  12. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ May 24, 2010 -> 03:23 PM) People say that, yet the average wage keeps increasing in the US (well at least up until this recession.) Same with unemployment numbers. Do we think that maybe the whole immigration issue is political grandstanding for votes?
  13. "US Inventor Samual F.B. Morse sent the first telegraph message on May twentyfourth eighteen hundred and fortyfour" in Morse code is: ..- ... / .. -. ...- . -. - --- .-. / ... .- -- ..- .- .-.. / ..-. .-.-.- -... .-.-.- / -- --- .-. ... . / ... . -. - / - .... . / ..-. .. .-. ... - / - . .-.. . --. .-. .- .--. .... / -- . ... ... .- --. . / --- -. / -- .- -.-- / - .-- . -. - -.-- ..-. --- ..- .-. - .... / . .. --. .... - . . -. / .... ..- -. -.. .-. . -.. / .- -. -.. / ..-. --- .-. - -.-- ..-. --- ..- .-. http://morsecode.scphillips.com/cgi-bin/morse.cgi
  14. QUOTE (Jenksismyb**** @ May 24, 2010 -> 01:28 PM) here's the solution: our society stops being PC p*****s about EVERYTHING and then this crap wouldn't happen. You think middle school hispanic kids gave a flying f*** what these idiots were doing? But now that there's a major uproar over it we just gave kids the incentive (attention) to be a bunch of teenage assholes. This country makes me so f'n sick sometimes with having to appease EVERYONE about EVERYTHING. Can't we just go one day where someone gets direspected and instead of crying like a bunch if p*****s we just say "ya know what, EVERYONE gets disrespected about SOMETHING. That's life. Shut up and deal." I have to agree, a healthy dose of tolerance would go a long way.
  15. QUOTE (Jenksismyb**** @ May 24, 2010 -> 01:31 PM) Is that true? I thought all the reports are saying that jobs that are outsourced are replaced with other jobs here. Last I saw they were being replaced by lower earning service sector types of jobs. WalMart part time cashiers, things like that. But I will admit that info could be stale and inaccurate.
  16. QUOTE (kapkomet @ May 21, 2010 -> 08:49 PM) It's great when our economic future is to ensure that there's a worker program for minumum wage jobs rather then a structure where people are rewarded higher salaries for actually knowing and achieving things at a job. While we are fighting for minimum wage jobs, middle class jobs are being outsourced, and higher wage jobs are being taken by H1B Visa holders. The business leaders and politicians have done a great job of misdirection.
  17. QUOTE (StrangeSox @ May 24, 2010 -> 12:42 PM) I don't think England or British people in general are still upset about the colonies, but I could be wrong. Cinco de Mayo isn't a Mexican holiday. It's celebrated in the US and one province there. Yep, basically a made up thing to get consumers to buy Mexican beer and eat in Mexican restaurants.
  18. I was at the last finals game played at the stadium. A buddy got tickets and took me. I hate being down here for this, but at least I have DirecTV and will be watching the games.
  19. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ May 24, 2010 -> 12:34 PM) So, there's no benefit to American students to understand the history of other countries/cultures? No need to understand, we have nuclear weapons and one hell of an army.
  20. Each country should enact laws that are in the best interest for that country. I really do not care what laws Mexico has for their country.
  21. QUOTE (Alpha Dog @ May 24, 2010 -> 12:10 PM) Couldn't the overt display of mexican flags, etc on that day have also been seen as distracting and disruptive to the educational process? Of course and I am certain that conservatives would have supported those students as well. (Is there enough green in the universe for that comment?) lol
  22. That school is spending millions and millions to educate students, why allow a few to disrupt that process?
  23. http://www.cnn.com/2010/OPINION/05/20/nava...dex.html?hpt=C2 I am now a big fan of controlling behavior in school

QUOTE (SouthsideDon48 @ May 20, 2010 -> 04:44 PM) Really?!?!!? I'm shocked to hear that, but then I realized you're in Texas where a lot of 14 year olds probably have more conservative christian values than most anywhere else. I am in an area that is 85% Hispanic, mostly first and second generation immigrant. As far as conservative, not a chance. 95% of this area votes Democratic. We're about the most liberal area of the country outside Massachusetts.

QUOTE (BigSqwert @ May 20, 2010 -> 03:32 PM) Or milkman is 78 years old and yells at kids to get off his lawn. Maybe not, I am surprised by how many of my 13-14 year old students have a negative image about tats.
