    i am drunk

Glory glory. I don't even like soccer but I know that's ManU's call and I love it. The other song I could sing would be that one where the Wicked Witch of Venezuela is gone, but I don't remember the words. Also, Ten, Pearl Jam, PJ20 at Deadspin......yes.
  2. If the Sox traded for me, I would be ok with this. To be rumored to get 2 prospects is a heist. Have fun MIAMI!
  3. The Buffalo Bills have the best record in the AFC. That is all.
  4. QUOTE (La Marr Hoyt HOF @ Sep 22, 2011 -> 10:38 PM) JR is a cheap bastard despite conventional wisdom and Ozzie will be back because he's cheap on a relative basis and draws media and fan attention despite what we all think on Soxtalk You say cheap bastard, I say smart businessman. Why pay for 2 managers when you can instead pay for 1? Seems like a bit of a waste, no? Well that, and the $100+ million they spent this past offseason on free agents. That's not cheap. Reinsdorf has stressed ad nauseum that the Sox put whatever they make into the team. This is actually the first year they went above and beyond that and it will probably be the last for a while. All that said, there's only 1 year left on Ozzie's contract, the tipping point has been beyond breached, and this team needs a change. There will be ways to make up for sunk costs and I don't see any possible way that Guillen is brought back.
  5. QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Sep 22, 2011 -> 03:10 PM) After 277 career games, Juan Pierre had 343 hits And he was even getting a few doubles and triples then too!
  6. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Sep 22, 2011 -> 02:52 PM) FutureSox FutureSox.com Kevan Smith rated 17th best Pioneer League prospect (was rated 20th in the Appy League). Scott Snodgress comes in at 14 Snodgress passes the smell test. He'll be a guy to watch next year. I'm pretty sure he was a player the Sox were considering with their supplemental pick, so perhaps it wasn't without due cause.
  7. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Sep 21, 2011 -> 07:59 AM) So do I. That's the kind of contract that if it busts will screw that franchise up for a decade. ARod as a Texas Rangers creditor 10 years later style screwup. Perhaps. Or perhaps they actually win and people come out to support. That team is close as is...can you imagine them adding another 5-6 WAR player on top of that? All they'd need is for that pitching staff to improve just a bit more and they'd be there.
  8. QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Sep 21, 2011 -> 12:18 PM) This "kid" will be 28 next year. Seeing as how I like teams to win games, a .750 OPS taking up a corner outfield position in the American League is f***ing bad. (Albeit, obviously better than Juan Pierre, but yeah, f*** this season and f*** Ozzie.) De Aza has been a breath of fresh air on an otherwise gasping roster, but I'd hope he performed a hell of a lot better than what you hope. The OPS of all of the players who have played LF in all of Major League Baseball this year is .730. That's actually the lowest of all of the OF spots. If Alejandro De Aza were able to put up a .750 OPS in LF next season and play good defense, it would be perfectly acceptable and the least of the White Sox concerns.
  9. I like that most people in here make fun of the sport because they are not nearly as talented as NBA players, but I know I won't make fun of it. They are still incredible athletes and I have to imagine watching it in person would actually be a lot of fun.
  10. Jose Bautista. I want to see Fielder or Pujols end up in Toronto so badly.
  11. The Twins are in a very tough spot right now. They've had an absolutely terrible season. Nathan, Cuddyer, and Kubel are all free agents. They owe Mauer, Morneau, Pavano, and Nishioka somewhere around $50 million next season. They don't have a lot in terms of prospects fast approaching the big leagues. On top of all of that, their pitching staff has been bad this year and it's really not in any position to get much better. On top of that, they have Jerry Owens II in CF for them. I didn't realize how bad Ben Revere is offensively. He makes Juan Pierre look like a power hitter. Either they get creative or they go into a rebuild/retool mode. And, either way, Bill Smith has done an absolutely horrendous job with that team.
  12. QUOTE (VictoryMC98 @ Sep 20, 2011 -> 09:14 PM) I never stated a HR isn't better.. Just not needed as much. If your leadoff hitter is getting 20 HRs 1 of 2 things is happening 1. He is Ricky Henderson or 2. and More likely, your manager is wasting that players talent, and could be better served in the middle of the lineup.. like the 6 hole. Take for instance, Alex Gordon.. He should be playing at 5/6 in that lineup.. Since he is a better HR hitter and in theory more people will be on base for him to knock them in with his HR. At his current place of 1, the likelyhood 7-8-9 are on base.. Are not as likely as 2-3-4... But if said player hits 1st or 2nd, they are going to get far more ABs - anywhere between 60-100 more - compared to hitting 5th or 6th. And when doing so, they'll be getting on base that many more times in front of the 3-4-5 hitters, who are good but have more flaws (such as a lack of speed or not as much plate discipline). Alejandro De Aza would be completely acceptable as the 1/2 hitter next year.
  13. QUOTE (VictoryMC98 @ Sep 20, 2011 -> 08:07 PM) So pretty much you just summed up what Pierre did at age 28... Thank you agreeing, at best he is Pierre. You are f***ing high. If given a full year of playing time, Alejandro De Aza will almost certainly surpass Juan Pierre's career total for homers. Considering he'd only have to hit 13 of them, that's not a big stretch either. Alejandro De Aza is a far superior talent and, at this point, player compared to Juan Pierre. If you can't see that, then you are blind.
  14. QUOTE (Lemon_44 @ Sep 20, 2011 -> 11:59 PM) Not that they will, but the time to retaliate is tomorrow. You still want to win the game so you don't put the tying run on base in the bottom of the ninth just for retaliation. Nail them all day long tomorrow. Isn't that what a hungover Saturday is for?
  15. QUOTE (knightni @ Sep 20, 2011 -> 06:05 PM) That's because Carmona throws offspeed junk and has a BP fastball. How many BP pitchers average 92.5 MPH on their fastball?
  16. QUOTE (VictoryMC98 @ Sep 20, 2011 -> 06:52 PM) I think him playing LF, Rios in CF and Tank in RF is the 2012 White Sox Starting OF. Leading off, sadly he might be the best option. Why is that sad? If he is capable, then let him.
  17. QUOTE (MotownSox @ Sep 20, 2011 -> 06:34 PM) WHITE SOX RULE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Did you really need to drink ANOTHER Jolt Cola?
  18. QUOTE (iamshack @ Sep 20, 2011 -> 05:44 AM) Funny then that you were so eager to open it up... Hey, I got no problem looking at athlete dong!
  19. QUOTE (SoIL @ Sep 20, 2011 -> 01:09 PM) I find this hilarious (and this is not a personal attack on the poster, just an observation) considereing how many hiring and personnel decisions are made each day by Soxtalk posters. You have no idea how much Madden I have played, do you?
  20. QUOTE (Kalapse @ Sep 20, 2011 -> 05:34 PM) So the Sox currently hold the 15th pick in the draft and are a half game back of the Mets for the 12th pick. Still not as good as the Twins
  21. QUOTE (soxfan-kwman @ Sep 20, 2011 -> 12:53 PM) Big Frank would never be just a hitting coach. If he decided to coach, he would have to be the manager. As a player he didn't like talking to the media when he played, he surely wouldn't want to do it as a manager. Besides Ozzie is coming back next year, Kenny too. Things aren't as bad as everyone thinks. Next year the pressure is on the players. Winning solves a lot of problems. You are f***ing high
  22. Thankfully, I didn't see the dong shot photo I was expecting to see clicking on this thread.
  23. I hadn't checked on the Sox in about a week. They finally got to f***ing Bruce Chen, huh? About damn time.
  24. QUOTE (greg775 @ Sep 20, 2011 -> 02:04 AM) Hey, so do I. Yeah, well my preference is Deion Sanders, so there
  25. Score prediction for Sunday: Bills 59, Pats 6. Fitzpatrick throws for 497 yards and 6 TDs and points a finger at Belichick.
