  1. I want someone who is fun. I want someone who does crazy stuff and will say crazy stuff to the media that will make us laugh and laugh, while doing dances in the dugout. I want someone with MLB experience but who has been in the spotlight pretty much all of his life. I also want someone who likes to dress overly nice to the point that he sticks out.
  2. QUOTE (ChiSox_Sonix @ Sep 12, 2011 -> 02:23 PM) Chiefs season is over now. Stevie Johnson can go f*** himself. I hope someone takes out his knees too. Karma is a b****. Yeah that's dirty. I don't think he was trying to directly take out his knees - atleast I hope not - but there's always that risk with the chop block and that's why it's such a stupid play. I am for some levels of de-p****fying the NFL, mostly including the ticky tack roughing the passer calls, but they simply need to outlaw the chop block.
  3. Swarzak looked like a really solid pitcher from what I saw of him.
  4. QUOTE (elrockinMT @ Sep 12, 2011 -> 03:54 PM) I understand the Florida deal, but I am betting Ozzie stays and gets a contract extension. We here probably know as much about Ozzie's situation than Ken Rosenthal and it's all speculation right now IMO Things you take Pepto Bismol for: Nausea, heartburn, indigestion, upset stomach, diarrhea Things Ozzie Guillen causes: Nausea, heartburn, indigestion, upset stomach, diarrhea, alcoholism -Thus, you understand why we drink
  5. QUOTE (Milkman delivers @ Sep 12, 2011 -> 02:12 AM) Seriously. f*** you, can I piss? I'm sure you can.
  6. QUOTE (lostfan @ Sep 11, 2011 -> 09:27 PM) I'm not necessarily a fan... Just confused why so many people were certain he would fail without giving any actual reasons for believing it I was more down on him because I didn't think he had a chance in hell at adjusting to the NFL itself. Though I'm sure there's some exaggeration to it, his plays at Auburn were not complex whatsoever. If he can take to the NFL in general, he's going to be just fine, I'm just not going to believe it after 1 week. Oh, and the Bills also do not believe defenses are that far behind. Allowing that limited amount of rushing yards is incredible for them.
  7. QUOTE (greg775 @ Sep 8, 2011 -> 02:08 PM) So is he or is he not a "good" ballplayer? I said he is and again there's been a lot of Juan hate on here talking about his "empty" accomplishment. Kylie I think you've lost it. I've read the stats on Juan people post. I can assess them and still in my mind come up with the conclusion he's a "good ballplayer." I read the stats people put on here and am glad to see them. People on this site turn the arguments around when I ask a simple question. Who on this team IS a good ballplayer? I was told Juan is not a good ballplayer and neither is CQ. Paulie is good I was told. Somebody thought Lexi is a good ballplayer. Some of the pitchers I was told are "good." It's not my fault this site doesn't wanna talk about generalities as I do. Is he a good ballplayer or not? When I see the answer is "no," yes I think that's a hater of Juan. Trying to use qualitative evidence to describe a player is subject to bias. You may think Juan Pierre is a good player. I do not think Juan Pierre is a good player. He has value, but he has far too many flaws in his game for me to describe him as good. Now, let's look at quantitative evidence. In what has been a good season for him, he still hasn't walked much, has played worse outfield defense, has been caught stealing 14 times in 39 attempts (for comparison's sake, he was caught 18 times in 86 attempts last year), and has fewer extra base hits than Adam Dunn. Juan Pierre has 2.5 times as many hits as Adam Dunn. I'm not saying Dunn has been better - he has quite clearly not - but it just goes to show how weak of a hitter Juan Pierre really is that all he can do is hit singles. XBHs produce runs. Juan Pierre, therefore, just is not that efficient at producing runs. Have you not wondered - considering he's led off pretty much his entire career, has played pretty much every game of every season except his final 2 years in Los Angeles), and generally steals anywhere between 40-65 bases a year - why he hasn't scored 100 runs in a season since 2004?
  8. QUOTE (CaliSoxFanViaSWside @ Sep 6, 2011 -> 04:45 PM) Ha no my post had nothing to do with yours actually. I just hit reply instead of fast reply . Actually just wanted to add that to my 1st post. Sorry for the confusion. Ha no problem, it felt good to vent a little anyways. None of that was directed at you either. As little attention as I paid to the team this year, it was extremely frustrating as a fan because you knew exactly how it was going to play out. Some of us just have a tendency to convince ourselves that this year is going to be different. In the past 10 years, its only been different 2 times.
  9. If there is something I am not going to spend $100 million on as a young team, it's pitching. TINSTAAPP.
  10. QUOTE (That funky motion @ Aug 30, 2011 -> 05:17 PM) Thibs comes into my car wash all the time. He opinion is, that once it's starts getting close to the season, they will work something out. What else is he going to say?
  11. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Sep 5, 2011 -> 01:59 AM) Considering his OPS (563) was in Alex Rios territory, I guess about the only positive spin on Walker is that he started out so slowly at KANNY that he actually started to make a decent adjustment the last 2-3 weeks of the season to at least bring his BA into the .230's. For now, not much reason to project him above and beyond a 4th-5th outfielder type...but he has a full season next year starting at KANNY and then moving up to High A if it's merited to prove his worth. Making projections based off of 2 months of play is a bit absurd, and I don't even think that highly of Walker. Fathom was also wondering about how he is perceived amongst those in the know, and not based on his statistics.

    i am drunk

It may be near. Or it may not be near. The world will never know, unless it finds out somehow.
  14. QUOTE (flippedoutpunk @ Sep 5, 2011 -> 06:23 AM) My life and relationships are pretty much over once the new Elder Scrolls comes out. Unless you're in my xbox live party then there will be no way to know if I'm alive or not. My 360 gets here Thursday and there have been about a million games that have come out in the past 3 years that I have wanted to play, yet for some reason, because it will be a new XBox (and thus, a completely new harddrive), I feel as though I am going to have to tear through Oblivion one more time. That'll take me a good month or two to get through and then BAM, Skyrim comes in. It's going to be Boner Jams 0-f***ing-9 for Elder Scrolls until the end of the year for me.
  15. QUOTE (CaliSoxFanViaSWside @ Sep 5, 2011 -> 11:00 PM) Apologies to the guys who want a higher draft pick. If I am interpreting your correctly, then you are wrong. I am one of the biggest homers on this board. I also look at things realistically and objectively and can see that, because the White Sox struggled early and because the magical powers of "CANNOT BE BEATEN" have transferred from the Twins to the Tigers, the White Sox are going to lose this division. I am happy both Humber and Stewart pitched well, and it doesn't surprise me in the least that Humber getting some time off saved his arm and, as a result, his performance improved, even if it was against this s***astic version of the Twins. I don't care what number they pick at - the general talent level of guys between 6-20 is virtually microscopic, excluding players with signability issues. The best prospect in the game last year was drafted in the 20th round. The (second) best prospect in the game this year was a first rounder - drafted 25th overall. (oh, and for shiznits and gizzigles, the 2009 MiLB.com players of the year, both pitching and hitting? some dudes named Dan Hudson and Chris Carter. For the record, neither were first round picks) The only thing I care about right now is that Reinsdorf and the board make the right call and fire Ozzie (because he will not accept reassignment within the organization) and either fire or reassign Williams (because I believe he would, and he is a good baseball mind to have on board - just no longer as the GM). There is simply no justification for this mess, and if the manager and GM cannot work together, then both must go.
  16. Do you know how I know that the Twins are bad? The White Sox have won 7 of 8 and 8 of 10 against them. Do you know how badly the White Sox messed up early in the year? With virtually the same roster of nobodies, has beens, and never will be's, the Twins could still easily win the season series.
  17. QUOTE (sin city sox fan @ Sep 5, 2011 -> 09:28 PM) If we can go 20-3 in the remaining games, all we need Detroit to do is go worse than 11-10 for us to take the division. I've seen this movie before. They win 17 straight, moving into 1st by a game. Then they lose 6 straight and break our hearts once again. Wasn't that good of a movie, BUT THAT IS JUST IMHO, AND I WOULD LIKE TO POINT OUT THAT IT IS MHO!
  18. I think there is an outside chance that Gardenhire will be fired as well. If there is a cliche spouter that I would like managing the White Sox next year, it's that guy.
  19. Anyone excited about Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim? I know I am...in fact, I was so excited about it that I drunkenly purchased a new XBox (was going to go PS3 but I still have like 8 360 games, so I think I'm going to switch during the next gen) a few days ago. Almost made the mistake of buying the 4 GB for $199, then saw that Best Buy included a $75 gift certificate if you buy a 250 GB. Yeah, that was a simple call. Anyways, totally jacked about Skyrim and I am really, really looking forward to getting back into real video games. The original XBox just doesn't cut it for me anymore.
  20. QUOTE (The Ginger Kid @ Sep 3, 2011 -> 09:52 PM) You're right, Dunn should get some PT. And for what it's worth, this optimist is officially out. We needed to win this game and tomorrow and put some pressure on Detroit and hopefully catch fire. Hey, anything can happen, so f*** off. But it didn't happen and now we're farther back than we've been since June. Thanks bullpen. And f*** you baseball gods. In the ass. Yep, this was extremely important. I'm not even going to think of ways they can get back in it because at this point in time, I really don't want them to. I'd mix the lineup around on pretty much a daily basis, but here's my general thought right now De Aza - CF Ramirez - SS Konerko - 1B Dunn - LF Quentin - DH Viciedo - RF Flowers - C Morel - 3B Beckham - 2B I would get Lillibridge 5 games a week switching between LF, CF, RF, 3B, 2B, 1B, and DH. I would actually give Flowers and Pierzynski a 50/50 split. I'd get Escobar 2-3 games a week on the infield between SS, 2B, and 3B. Rios might play twice a week. Pierre will play a few more games too but at this point, I'd try and get him onto a different team that will be able to use him in the regular season. I don't think anyone would want or need him though simply because pretty much every single playoff race is, for the most part, settled with the possible exception of the AL West (and that one is even a long-shot at this point). I'd call up Axelrod and give him a start and I would let a few of the young guys get some experience working late in games. Then I'd help Ozzie clean out his office.
  21. I've bowled 2 300s, but only one sanctioned. They also happened within 5 months of each other, one in November of '04, the other in March of '05. The second one was sanctioned and was actually the first game of our state scratch tournament. There's only been one other time that I got really hot and that was at the state scratch tournament the following year. My first 4 frames were sloppy, but I found a line and put up 7 of the next 8. Started my second game with the first 9. My 10th ball looked perfect, but I left a wrap-around 10-pin. Picked it to finish with a 277. Started the next game out with 5 strikes, my 6th ball was a stone 8, and then I put up 3 or 4 more strikes and ended up with a 250-something that game. I with a couple of lucky taps, I probably end up throwing 18-22 strikes in a row. I was pretty much on fire that day. I've bowled a bit since then, but I haven't been able to crack a 260 since that time, though I've put up scores in the 250s probably 10-15 times since I stopped bowling regularly. It's pretty much every time I go out, I start out in the 180s, kick it up to the 250s, and crap out with something in the 150s.
  22. At this point in time, the Sox may as well play Dunn every day. You need to get all your guys PT, but there's nothing to lose by trying to get Dunn some confidence going into next season. That was really too bad, I thought this team was playing well enough that they might steal this series. Oh well, life goes on, and I'll be feeling better about this team with a new manager in charge. Hopefully they make a good hire.
  23. QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Sep 3, 2011 -> 05:29 PM) Mediocre peripherals for the most part. But it's hard to believe he's only 22. There's still a fair chance he could live up to his perceived potential. Worst-case you have a solid #4. Scherzer is the one they need to get back to last season's level. Porcello looks a lot like Garland
  24. QUOTE (ottawa_sox @ Sep 3, 2011 -> 05:05 PM) August 11/1990 .... I just looked it up. It was the Little Hurt's first career home run. www.youtube.com/watch?v=mk2NJQT6je4 Wow, that is awesome
