  1. Williams and Paddy were on the Tatis bandwagon, since they were the ones most closely connected to the signing as well as Tatis, Sr. Who has been the White Sox GM since 2013? In fact, Shields finished with a 6.77 ERA over 22 starts for the White Sox, and Chicago ended with a 78-84 record in what would be Robin Ventura’s last year as manager. With each powerfully furious step Tatis Jr. made through the Padres’ system, this deal became tougher and tougher to forget. “Yeah, yeah,” said Hahn with a resigned smile of the deal being frequently discussed. “I’m aware of that. Looking at Tatis, I view that as a great success for our international scouting program. Work that Marco Paddy and his people did to identify him and acquire him should be commended. Although he was only with us for roughly a year or so, the work that our player-development people did with him was very good as well. And there were people in the organization who spoke highly of his potential. “No one went into that deal ignorant of what this kid could possibly turn into,” Hahn said. “At the same time, the decision to make that trade was motivated by elements within the organization we are trying to avoid as we complete this rebuild, as we get to the other side of the rebuild.” https://www.mlb.com/news/rick-hahn-looks-back-on-trade-of-fernando-tatis-jr
  2. Teams over performing RS/RA (CHW -2) Oak, Seattle +5 Boston, Cleveland, Milwaukee, St. Louis +4 AZ -6 Miami -5 Toronto, Balt, SD -4 Houston -3
  3. Fry struggling a bit this inning...
  4. Willie Harris is more what we need, mixed with Paco Martin and Craig Grebeck.
  5. Those pesky Indians are at it again...were down early to Baltimore, looking for a series sweep. Leading 6-5, top of the 6th at Progressive.
  6. Can we perhaps shoot higher than Jordy Mercer? What's next, bringing back Alcides Escobar? Tim Beckham has a career .733 OPS, although obviously he's not the fielder that Mercer is...but, at this point, offense might be equally important to defense until Robert/Jimenez return.
  7. So who do you choose between Lamb, Mercedes, Hamilton? I guess everyone's assuming Eaton will go on the DL for awhile to get himself back to at least 90%. For the time being, Goodwin also has an important role, as well.
  8. Only two hitters in lineup with an average over .255, TA and Goodwin...no problem.
  9. Well, considering Glasnow WAS one of the three Cy Young favorites in the AL when that game was played...
  10. Let's not confuse the Rays with the historic late 1920's/early 1930's Yankees teams, offensively.
  11. Berrios and Buxton are highly unlikely to move in season, IMO. Buxton has to prove he's healthy for an extended period of time...they're still considering offering him a long-term extension, but it's crunch time. Rogers (LHR), Colome, Kepler, Polanco, Sano (seems anything's on the table)...definitely Pineda and Happ. The one guy we should MOST be interested in is Hansel Robles, imo.
  12. Saw that it was a swinging strike (blocked), expected that the runner somehow reached first or the ball was thrown away down the RF line. Okay, just getting 1 out of 2 seems like a moral victory at this point. Nice to see Keuchel rounding into form and contributing more in line with his contract. Bummer starting to solidify his hold on the 8th inning, with Heuer more for the 7th...and mix/match with Kopech and Crochet depending upon availability.
  13. The Indians putting away Orioles/Harvey again....need to win or suddenly 3 1/2 games back with 5 more games to go on the home stand. Maybe the lead getting down to 1 1/2 or 1/2 would be good to put some media pressure on Hahn. I guess he'll simply argue that Jimenez/Robert are our biggest acquisitions, and the most important names on the market other than a couple of guys like Scherzer or Kris Bryant...blah blah blah.
  14. Thanks, Pirates! Well, another way to think of this division is if the Indians didn't trade Clevinger last year, they would be out of the race already, because they're having to rely so much on Quantrill, Reyes, Naylor and Hedges to keep their heads above water.
  15. That’s because they are throwing that traditional 60/40 stocks and bond mix ratio out because of the expected or projected fall in the average rate of return for portfolios the next 10-15 years down in the 3-7% ROI range...basically trying to scare everyone into being more aggressive with bond and CD rates at historical lows, 1-2.5%, which doesn’t even keep pace with taxes and inflation.
  16. VTSMX? Vtthx (2030), vthrx (2035), vforx (2040) three of the investment target date one with four star ratings and lower/ed risk...
  17. https://sportsnaut.com/diamondbacks-mlb-eduardo-escobar-trade-destinations/ Brewers, Indians, Mets, Braves, Marlins could all have an interest in Escobar...
  18. Which Vanguard Fund would you feel most confident parking a significant amount of money in for the next 15-20 years, and why? Some of the ones I’m currently looking at (yes, another list!) vpmcx visvx vmvix vmvax vpccx vtsix vtiax (super popular with FIRE crowd, so maybe tack the opposite direction, haha) vghcx (health care seems as logical a place as any, right?) vtwax vwinx vigax vimax
  19. Still liked the first one better...have seen second twice now.
  20. And now Moncada is dinged up a little bit...
  21. Mercedes has negligible trade value. Vaughn MIGHT need to go to AAA, but trading him right now as a corner outfielder instead of 1B with pedestrian stats would be borderline idiotic. The Bieber injury gives them another 2-3 weeks before they need to start making some tough/er decisions.
  22. He also has a solid enough arm to play all three outfield positions and especially SS better than Mendick. Compared to Vaughn/Mercedes/Eaton, he's not even the biggest problem offensively in the line-up right now. And it seemed inevitable that some of our other "back up QB" hitters (beyond those already named) like Lamb were going to return to earth as well. For now, Goodwin's the flavor of the day/week, but how long will that actually last? Basically, TB just has a better bullpen and a better defense right now...overall, they SHOULDN'T be better than the White Sox with everyone back in the line-up and a bench of Collins/Leury/Engel/Hamilton or Lamb.
  23. The problem is...replace Vaughn with who/whom? Lamb? Hamilton? Hopefully the answer is not Leury, as it seems to be for nearly every roster question. We have Mercedes and Eaton with a ton of issues as well. It's crazy that Mendick for Madrigal is the fourth biggest concern at the moment.
