Suicide Squad was definitely a bad movie. I don't think it was horrible by any means, but it has a lot of issues and is both stupid & boring at times. Really sucks because the potential for greatness was there. The animated Suicide Squad film, Assault on Arkham, was awesome and should have been the blueprint. Instead, we got this mess of a film.
  2. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Aug 18, 2016 -> 01:49 PM) You are delusional if you think it suddenly makes this team any better. All he was saying was great fire Robin. The reality is he is the least of the White Sox problems. There are several players you should hope get "fired" before him. Firing Robin is very likely to make our team better, because he is a horrible manager and it would be hard to hire anyone worse. Also, he may be the "least" of our problems, but he's still a problem and one that can easily be addressed. Maybe his replacement is only worth a win or two over a 162 game season, but last time I checked every win counts when trying to make the playoffs. The idea that we shouldnt replace our manager (whose contract ends at the end of the season no less) because the impact is small relative to other potential changes (players, front office, etc) is beyond ridiculous. These changes aren't mutually exclusive and in a perfect world they'd all be made. Having said, Robin needs to replaced at season's end regardless of what happens with KW & Hahn or the roster. Again, there is simply no logical argument for keeping him.
  3. QUOTE (lasttriptotulsa @ Aug 18, 2016 -> 01:15 PM) I think it's more that many of us aren't so delusional that we think a managerial change is the difference between this team making and missing the postseason. What a horrible post. When did anyone ever say Robin was the difference between making & missing the playoffs? Seriously, I guarantee you couldn't provide a single post from this forum stating that, let alone multiple of them. But yup, those of us in favor of firing Robin are the delusional ones. And is that really your argument for keeping Robin? That because Robin isn't worth 9+ games, which is what it would take for us to make the playoffs this season, we should keep him? If so, all I can say is that's some f***ed up logic. If replacing Robin makes us even a single game better, then it's a move worth making. I'm so sick of the same old "managers don't matter" defense for keeping a garbage one. If managers really didn't matter, which is incorrect, then you shouldn't give two s***s if we replace him. At this point in time, there is no defense for keeping him. Maybe a change doesn't add much value, but it simply can't hurt.
  4. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Aug 18, 2016 -> 01:04 PM) He will be gone, but unless you want to give JR, RH, and KW some credit, no one was going to win with the hand Robin was dealt. Robin isn't the only reason for this mess, but there's no doubt he's a contributor. I'd like to see sweeping changes across the organization, but since that's not going to happen, I'll take what I can get and that's Robin being let go.
  5. I can't believe Robin still has supporters. He's accomplished NOTHING in his tenure here and quite frankly there's no logical defense for keeping him. Thank god the front office finally realizes this and the pointless argument can end.
  6. QUOTE (Hatchetman @ Aug 17, 2016 -> 12:36 PM) A top 20 reliever is worth about 1.5 to 2.0 WAR A top 20 starter is worth about 5 WAR WAR ignores context and doesn't appropriately value relievers who can shut down opponents in high leverage situations. I'd rather have a top 20 starter no doubt, but there's a reason teams are paying up the ass for elite relievers.
  7. QUOTE (JLarucci23 @ Aug 17, 2016 -> 10:46 AM) Any reason why Jameson promoted yet? The only thing I can think of is we already have a full OF in Kannapolis (Call, Adolfo, Rodriguez) and Jameson needs to play everyday in the field to work on his defense.
  8. QUOTE (WhiteSoxLifer @ Aug 16, 2016 -> 08:17 PM) I had a great conversation w/Jerry Reinsdorf today. He said his front office is 100% in lockstep on what to do this offseason. https://twitter.com/thekapman/status/765710836748918784 More Reinsdorf: "Our offseason plans will be clear by our actions. Rick and Kenny are on the same page." https://twitter.com/thekapman/status/765711160746344448 To me, that's a pretty clear indication they plan on rebuilding to some extent. No way they could feel that confident in their ability to execute a "go for it" strategy at this point in time. Just last offseason, the front office publicly said they weren't sure which direction they were going to go until they were able to land Frazier. With this coming offseason's poor free agent class, the ability to fill holes will be even difficult. I really think Reinsdorf is going to let the rebuild finally happen
  9. Glad to see he's being sent down. He definitely needs more development time in the minors.
  10. QUOTE (Thad Bosley @ Aug 16, 2016 -> 08:40 PM) The Chicago White Sox aren't going anywhere anytime soon. They are 12th in MLB in TV revenue, and only $3M separates them from being in the top ten in all of baseball in that all-important revenue stream. You couple that with the massive revenue-friendly sweetheart lease deal they enjoy, and they won't get a more profitable deal in any another city. This also dispels the myth that the team somehow operates in a "limited resources" environment. The facts as just referenced support quite the contrary. http://www.fangraphs.com/blogs/estimated-t...l-30-mlb-teams/ Hmmm, large market teams have the most revenue from TV contracts. Who would have ever thought that?? But moving to Salt Lake City sounds pretty awesome with that huge regional TV deal they could provide!
  11. QUOTE (IowaSoxFan @ Aug 16, 2016 -> 12:32 PM) I guess that Mexico City and Motreal are frequently speculated as expansion locations, so they could be in play, but I don't see it. Montreal is easily the best city suited for a MLB team, way above any of the locations you listed. And none of them make a lick of sense relative to Chicago. Please list the largest TV deals and tell me how many aren't in top 10 markets.
  12. QUOTE (raBBit @ Aug 15, 2016 -> 04:12 PM) Someone told me Renteria has too much respect for Robin to replace him midseason and if he ever did replace him, it would be in the offseason. That does make a lot of sense, thanks for sharing raBBit.
  13. QUOTE (Feeky Magee @ Aug 15, 2016 -> 04:58 PM) He's certainly intriguing. KATOH projects him as the White Sox's top prospect and the 111th prospect in the game, I assume mainly based on his 2016 destruction in Birmingham. http://www.fangraphs.com/blogs/an-improved...h-top-100-list/ Thanks for posting. I think he's certainly underrated and I'd probably rank him in the 10 - 15 range in our system. The only thing holding him back IMO is a lack of position. If he could play a solid LF, I think he could be a very valuable player.
  14. The Sox are not moving and the idea is absolutely ridiculous. Not only are there franchises with far worse situations (A's & Rays immediately come to mind), but MLB wants to expand in the not too distant future. If someone can name three to four cities out there that are better than a split Chicago, I'd love to hear them. Despite our low ratings today, the potential of the Chicago market is incredible and a new owner would have to be crazy to pass it up to go somewhere like Portland or Vegas.
  15. Heyman was on WSCR this morning and speculated that Renteria would be the favorite to replace Robin. While that makes some sense, I can't comprehend why they wouldn't give him a two month audition if they were serious about him. Regardless, there is zero chance Robin is back next year. Just hope he isn't the sacrificial lamb and there's some shakeup in the front office as well.
  16. Nicky Delmonico has been on fire in his last 10 games. I still think he projects as a major league bat, just not sure what position he ends up at. If I were the Sox, I'd give him as much playing time in LF as possible.
  17. QUOTE (elrockinMT @ Aug 14, 2016 -> 08:30 PM) Bring him back
  18. QUOTE (Quinarvy @ Aug 13, 2016 -> 02:41 AM) IGN's review is kind of hammering home all of the fears I had about this game. http://www.ign.com/articles/2016/08/13/no-...y-review?page=1 Yeah, most reviews echo the same issues/concerns. The sense scale is incredible and allows the game to be enjoyable for a period of time, but the actual gameplay systems are simply not fun and get repetitive quickly. And if what I read about the end of game is true, then there's really no payoff. Pretty disappointing given how much hype this game has gotten.
  19. QUOTE (daggins @ Aug 11, 2016 -> 07:47 PM) http://www.milb.com/scoreboard/index.jsp?s...mp;ymd=20160811 Just making this thread to say Alex Call, you are ridiculous. How is his defense? If he can play a solid CF then he's easily a top six prospect in our system IMO.
  20. I don't why anyone is taking Ron seriously, there is zero chance Hansen gets called up to the majors this year and I would say AA is just as unlikely. My guess is he'll get moved to Kannapolis in the near future and finish out the season there. He'll then start 2017 in Winston-Salem. This a guy you take your time with and even our development staff must see that.
  21. QUOTE (soxfan2014 @ Aug 9, 2016 -> 07:24 PM) Personally, I don't see the point of him coming up this season. I would prefer if he went into the offseason conditioning as a starter and working as a starter in the minors to start the season. 100% agree. And I'd like to see Fulmer in AAA working as a starter as well. Let relievers like Albers continue to blow games and worry about fixing the pen in the offseason. This season is already a lost cause.
  22. QUOTE (Y2JImmy0 @ Aug 9, 2016 -> 12:21 PM) I'd like to see Call, Fisher, and Adolfo together in W-S to start next season Call & Fisher sure, but Adolfo definitely needs more time at Kannopolis. Glad to finally see him show some power, but his plate discipline still needs work. A couple months in low A to start the 2017 season can only help him.
  23. QUOTE (danman31 @ Aug 9, 2016 -> 05:12 AM) I started No Man's Sky tonight. I don't work until the evening tomorrow so I figured I'd just go nuts tonight and play as much as I wanted. It's not 5 a.m. and I haven't gone to bed yet. This game is MASSIVE not just in literal size (we've already heard about how many planets there are), but also in how complex it is. There are so many things you can do and I literally just started flying around with my ship, which opened up a whole bunch of stuff. I had been walking everywhere to explore and now I can save time doing this. I can't even imagine the extra layers once I leave a planet for the first time. Geez. Is it fun though? Based on the limited stuff I've seen, it seems like all you do is gather resources, build-up your ship, and move closer to the center of the Galaxy. They may be fun for a little while, but I see it getting tedious if there isn't more to it than that.
  24. QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Aug 8, 2016 -> 10:31 AM) Band of Brothers was simply fantastic. While not as great, The Pacific was still wonderful - dive into that next. Rami Malek (Mr. Robot lead actor) is in The Pacific. That's the plan. Finished Band of Brothers yesterday and it definitely met the hype. Absolutely loved the two episodes in Bastogne, some of the best TV ever made IMO. Can't wait for The Pacific next.
  25. QUOTE (IowaSoxFan @ Aug 8, 2016 -> 04:32 PM) Word is that the Pirates may look at moving McCutcheon in a salary dump over the winter. The Sox don't have a lot in the tank as far as prospects go, but could move Burdi and Fulmer for him. Sign Castro and trade for Norris to catch. RF Eaton CF McCutcheon 1B Abreu 3B Frazier DH Cabrera LF Tilson 2B Lawrie C Castro/Norris SS Anderson You're not getting McCutcheon for that, but let's say you could, why the hell would you start Tilson as your LF? Would be such a stupid, half-ass White Sox type of move.
