  1. I’ve honesty felt like he may have a vision problem for a while now. Maybe Anderson’s advice not to wear glasses turned out to be pretty poor? We can only hope.
  2. Cease a bit wild to start tonight.
  3. If healthy, the answer is Burdi without question. He has best reliever in all of baseball type stuff.
  4. Doesn't he get hit by a ton of pitches? That surely will help.
  5. I’m sure the reason was stupid, but he’s also a 22 year old kid. To expect him to mature overnight is ridiculous. And what else has he done this season like this?
  6. Yup, let’s all ignore another dominant start with great command all because a stupid HBP.
  7. I’d fire Renteria and bring a guy who might bring some tough love (Girardi could be an option). I’d let the new manager bring on new hitting coaches and hopw different voices get through to him. If after a month next year we see no progress, I’d use that final option and send him down to AAA to work through changes in a low stress environment.
  8. Lol...your obsession with flukey performances is very impressive!
  9. Embarrassing at-bat for Moncada right there, kid looks broken as fuck.
  10. They can sit on his fastball because he uses it too much and is unable to command his secondary pitches well enough. I agree he needs to develop his secondary pitches, which is again why I’m frustrated he gave up his curveball.
  11. Because I’ve seen Lopez when he has three pitches working and he can be dominant. Also, how come you dwell on Lopez’s low spin rate when Giolito has basically the same low spin rate at a much lower velocity. Maybe I’m misinterpreting the stat, but seems like you should be ripping Lucas more for that.
  12. I don’t buy this theory at all. He used to have a bomb-ass curveball and then dropped it for reasons unknown. Either way, his fastball would play up in the pen and I think he can develop the slider enough to be a solid reliever worst case scenario. To think he couldn’t fill a bullpen role of any capacity is quite frankly absurd.
  13. Here comes headcase Lucas folding at the first sign of pressure.
  14. I must be nuts then, because I think Lopez has more potential than Giolito.
  15. They’re gambling on some post hype prospects. Could work out well for them, but I also think it’s more likely Meadows & Glasnow never live up to their upside. Reminds me a bit of the Sonny Gray trade and that one remains a huge question mark for Oakland.
  16. Hopefully his recent poor performance was related to the bad tooth and he can now finally start swinging at borderline pitches.
  17. I hope you’re right. Sucks we won’t see him for another 8 months, but simply not worth it at this point.
  18. The walks are still a problem. Until he gets those under control, he’s still got a ways to go IMO. Thank god he’s got another option and we can be patient.
  19. I really hope I’m wrong, but why in the world did Getz say they were close to being called up a few weeks back. Just gave me a real bad vibe.
  20. Unfortunately I think Jiménez & Kopech will be up once Charlotte’s season ends. If the Sox were smart, they’d only call up a handful of guys (Bummer, Robson, Tilson, etc.) and claim they want to use September to evaluate certain players already on the 25 man roster. They’ll have to be creative to avoid calling up Eloy & Michael when rosters expand.
  21. If you ignore ERA, Adams has been pretty horrible in AAA (5.54 FIP, 4.06 K/9, 4.34 BB/9). I don’t think he’s an option at all at this point. Stephens hasn’t been quite as good as of late, but his overall numbers are still pretty solid for AAA (3.48 FIP, 8.39 K/9, 2.99 BB/9). We also don’t know if he’s been working on something specific that’s impacted his numbers. Guerrero hasn’t been bad in AAA, but his perhiphals aren’t nearly as good as they were at AA outside of his HR rate which always scare me. IMO, Stephens is the clear favorite of these guys to get a starting role next year.
  22. I don’t disagree with anything you’re saying, but I think there are definitely things the coaching staff can do help with the adjustment process. No doubt the bigger burden of blame falls on the player himself, but at some point you got to roll the dice and hope a new voice can help make things right. Moncada is simply too important to the rebuild to give Steverson the benefit of the doubt.
  23. I hate to pull the pitchfork out, but please fire Steverson & Sparks. Maybe it’s not fair, but whatever they’re doing with Moncada isn’t working.
