  1. So like, shouldn't Poppysox - who wants us to have as few playoff teams as possible (2) - be pulling hard for the players here if this were about substance on the table other than who gets $$$?

DogeCoin and Robux (for the children's videogame Roblox) are currently worth more than the ruble.
  3. I know I'm late to these, but I don't know to the first and the second does not apply to me.
  4. MLB.TV is set to automatically on Tuesday if you're a subscriber, so unless you're extremely confident that a CBA deal is reached Monday, you might want to consider canceling.
  5. It's pretty clear from today's negotiation that the owners are negotiating in bad faith and have always planned on doing as such.
  6. I mean, yeah. I've passed up two separate jobs where I'd have been paid probably $20K-$50K more than what I'm currently making so I can stay in my industry, so I get it. You also said "any amount", so either you're moving the goal posts now or you were lying earlier.
  7. The proof is probably on Bleacher Report, Passan just didn't scroll far enough.

    War in Ukraine

Sweden came out and basically said it wouldn't. Finland said it'd apply if needed. But they're also part of the EU, and Article 42.7 says that if they're attacked, the EU comes to its aid. Considering so many EU nations are part of NATO, well, you can do the math. Russia can't win a conventional war against the EU-NATO, hence Putin's madman threats. Right now, some good news is China and Switzerland are actually hitting Russia financially, which was a bit unexpected.
  9. It's actually a group comprised of Einstein, James Dean, LOCKED OUT, Davy Crockett, Peter Pan, Elvis Presley, and they meet in Disneyland

This dude was a comedian in 2019, now with an unfathomable weight on his shoulders. And god bless every Russian standing against this. They're probably the best hope to end this in a "best case" scenario.
  11. Since he didn't respond to me, I'm assuming he'd play for the $18-24K that Gil Luna might make.
  12. I've had supervisors who make above $200K. While not the MLB minimum, their career length blows the average MLB length out of the water. So while I might not reach that, it's way more attainable than billionaire. But you'd play baseball for "damn near any amount of pay," so how about what minor leaguers make - $8,000 and $14,000. We'll be generous and give you the $20,000 that a draft pick like Fraser Ellard (White Sox 8th rounder) gets, vs. the $10K that Gil Luna (9th rounder) got, but stretch that out for your whole career.
  13. You know what's unimaginable? If you earned a dollar every second, you'd be a millionaire in 11 days, 13 hours 46 minutes and 40 seconds. You'd be a billionaire in 31 and one-half years. Most of those MLB players don't get the "unimaginable" salaries you're citing.

Best way to explain this is via a comparison. Obviously, the situations are flipped here in regards to power dynamic. 1. Mexico says "hey, California and Texas have large, historically Mexican populations." 2. Sends over insurgents, which start causing trouble. Also, Mexico has a massive army in this scenario that just happens to camp on the border. 3. US responds, Mexico goes "woah, the US is genociding innocent people of Mexican descent!" 4. Mexico recognizes California and Texas as their own nations. 5. "Actually, Texas and California just want to be a part of Mexico all along!" 6. Suddenly, Mexico decides to invade all of the American west, saying it is has always been culturally Mexican and has no right to exist. Map of Mexico's historical borders for context.

Any NATO member exchanges fire with Russia and you bring down the whole weight of the alliance. With Putin essentially threatening World War III (“consequences you have never seen" says the man with a massive nuclear arsenal), sanctioning Russia's economy into the 1800s is going to be the biggest step for a lot of nations for a while.
  16. He indicated he wouldn't rush if the team was tanking. Now they've indicated they want to push for the playoffs and go FA shopping, so that might incentivize him to comeback.
  17. Man, you'll get no argument from me here. Whataburger >>>> In-N-Out. I'm just saying, these businesses are all Christian in some facet. Fwiw, Cracker Barrel used to be abysmal and mired in controversy, but has done a huge 180 under Sandra Cochran as CEO.
  18. Is it just me or does it feel like an abnormal amount of this season is hinging on injuries for key teams (not counting players being out during COVID)?
  19. Notice how he didn't say In-N-Out, Forever 21, Cracker Barrel, Marriott, or Tyson Foods.
  20. It's the latest in the Zion saga. Sports Illustrated recently reported that GMs are bracing for a trade demand from him, which fits with his family wanting him out of there (reported last summer) and the fact that he's rehabbing away from the team. Combined with Simmons and a bunch of other stars demanding trades while on long-term contracts, the CBA negotiations won't look pretty. Shaq alluded to this when talking about Simmons' hold out.
  21. Man, the NBA lockout is going to make the MLB lockout look like child's play.
  22. Bulls had to outbid teams for TT: Also means the BAE will reset in 2023, the year Vuc is a FA. Lonzo's rehab, lmao.
  23. If this works, then every single person that argued that the owners cared about anything other than money can take a massive L.
