  1. I think on that note, if there are any trade whispers about new starting pitchers, they can get a thread.
  2. Liam Hendriks wouldn't have signed here if we did this.
  3. Every time one of our threads derails this heavy, I just wonder how fanbases like the A's (not really done anything), Rays (traded their ace cause he makes more than $0), Twins (standing by and letting the Sox make moves to improve the team), and Cubs (lmao) are doing.
  4. That's fair. I wonder what the trade would look like, because if you want Ball long term, what assets are you moving that New Orleans wants? If they want Sato or Thad as vet presences, you might have something, but I don't really feel the like the Bulls should toss their picks (even second rounders) or young assets like Simonović for a guy they can sign this offseason.
  5. I'd rather wait until Ball is a free agent. I think he could be a good fit with this team in a playmaker role under Donovan, but his shooting is still putrid and he's going to be a FA this year. Re: Coby - it's pretty clear his destiny in Chicago (if he stays) is as a Ben Gordon sparkplug off the bench. We know he's a hard worker and he is in a tough position of trying to finally learn how to be a point guard, but at the NBA level, in a new system, after learning under Egghead. He looks bad right now, but he's look great in the past.
  6. You know this first part how exactly? I only laugh react at genuinely funny stuff, since as bmags pointed out, it's positive reinforcement.
  7. I have nightmares about Thome's walk-off against Thornton.
  8. Eh, @Harry Chappas is right. Braun is the all timer.
  9. This honestly helped sell me on Cruz even more.
  10. This is what I'm wondering. NBC Sports Chicago's current ownership structure is 25% NBC Sports, 50% Reinsdorf, 25% Wirtz. I guess it could go back to being Comcast SportsNet if Comcast retains it's stake?
  11. Worth noting that 4 of those came during those weird double All-Star game seasons. Still. An All-Star in twenty one seasons is fucking insane. He received MVP votes in 18 of those.
  12. This is where I'm standing. Crochet was the only draft pick that got any burn last year and that's only gotten him into the back half, because guys ahead of him are basically locked in by default. Going off Pipeline (I don't have a BA subscription), if Abel or Detmers falter at all, you have to imagine the guy who blew past major leaguers will vault ahead of them if he blows past minor leaguers (assuming he's starting in the minors).
  13. Let's celebrate the dude who could do this while facing constant death threats and racism, just because he was threatening Ruth's record (he also received an outpouring of love). And then let's celebrate the same dude who could have fun and voice a wacky role like Hank Aaron the 24th, the worst athlete of all time, in Futurama: B1dFKt.mp4
  14. Same trade, wrong prospect. BA ranked Avery Weems #10 in the Sox system. Most of us hadn't heard of Avery Weems since his draft night.
  15. lmao at Beef trying to get Hector to give him deets.
  16. Cruz - Archer Elite lineup + elite bullpen + strong 1-2-3 in the rotation. The lineup and bullpen can cover up any mistakes / growing pains coming from the 4-5 spot.
  17. The real rumors are the friends we made along the way, thanks to Orlando.
  18. In a vacuum, yeah. But Jerry isn't carrying a payroll that wins 100 games and allowing Hahn to do his massive tear down and sign Luis Robert at the same time. While pretty much most of the fliers didn't work out (the Cordell, Medeiros, Forbes, etc. guys), it was worth shooting a shot for another Rios-for-Leury type deal while letting the big gets (Moncada, Gio, Eloy) get their reps in.
  19. All right everyone, let's carry on by talking about Bauer.
