Scrap heap, over the hill, great potentials who never made it, scandalous,has beens, other teams rejects, risky in some way or another. Its the CWS way. Every now and then, knitting this type of group together gets a competitive team, but nothing enduring. However this season has seen our minor leagues supply us with a group of rookies who have made for a fun summer here in town, I never thought hoping for 63 wins would be cause to celebrate. Thats how far we have sunk. Somehow though this team has a feel good about it.

I switched between the Sox game (ugh) and the Bananas game. It was my first exposure to the Bananas. It was alot of fun at the ballpark. Seeing the Rate filled, and seeing AJ and Buehrle were extra nice. Certainly not a nightly experience as the novelty would soon wear off. Its a day at the circus but it is baseball. Kids love it. My grandson never watches baseball but watched this. I see only positives for all here.

Ok this thread has been going for some time now, and I have read most of it. My brief and simple feeling is that the soccer stadium is the first step in developing The 78 into a sports complex. The baseball stadium will be the crown jewel.

Its been tough

Some very good teams roster a center fielder for his defensive skill. Robert has that in abundance including a fine arm and can run the bases like the wind. Can he stay healthy and will he hit? I would keep him for an important defensive position alone, and you if healthy he will hit something. Maybe alot, but $20million? I wonder what Getz is thinking?

I heard Harrelson do PBP his entire career. I tired of the same cliches about 15 years in, but I never tired of him. He was an unashamed homer who took plenty of heat for being a homer. I never tired of him because he rooted for the same home team I do, Schriffen could generate excitement for any team that hired him. He is as sincere as a mercenary.

Last night there truly were Angels in the outfield.

Slater turned out to be a pretty good hitter, but of course not a long time fit for the Sox. Its hard to complain about Getz on signing him or the return for trading him.

Taylor is eaxactly the type of player we would want to get for the rebuild. Thing is, we already have him. Just keep him.
