Sox looking at building in South Loop
If they are able to pull it all off, there certainly will be plenty of options. I just hope it’s consistent and runs smoothly.

I mean sure, but it’s still more of an inconvenience to have to depend on that. I’ll figure it out, as it’s not going to be something that makes me scream at the clouds where I won’t go, but it certainly adds to commute time and planning when going to a game. Honestly my best option would probably be Ogilvie and then hopefully a water taxi to the park, assuming they put a pickup spot there.

Exactly. There won’t be a perfect solution. I’m very in favor this project happening, but I won’t lie that depending on public transport is not exactly trilling to me. I enjoy having personal freedom of driving on my own. Hopefully there will be some type of option for everyone.

I think it’s a legitimate thing to consider. I drive in for games currently (about 45 min to 1 hr) and I’ve definitely thought about what I’d do. I go to games with my father who requires handicap parking because he has trouble walking with diabetes and his heart, but is not immobile. I’m not entirely sure how I’d get him there if the only options are public transit. I’m not gonna sit there and cry about it, but it certainly makes it tougher.

Totally agree. It becomes a part of the neighborhood.

Gregory Santos Traded to Mariners for P Prelander Berroa, OF Zach DeLoach and 69th pick
Shewmake is the only real competition for Sosa for the backup spot. Sosa doesn't really have much more to prove in the minors IMO. Not sure he will ever be a legitimate starter option, but a weak side platoon, backup IF is still valuable.

Was just about to post this, I think this looks very nice.

Important to remember too that any NRI added is going to require someone gets cut. Always an uphill battle for those guys, and even if some guys on the 40-man are meh to us, teams don’t exactly like to throw guys out if they can stash the NRI in AAA for a bit. Barlow seems likely IMO, especially with the closer role wide open.

They technically could still bring him in for 2B, with Lopez being the backup IF and Sosa going to Charlotte. Although, I don't think they really have the payroll wiggle room to bring him in.

Cease To Padres per Passan
Can’t help but wonder what the offers may have been from the Reds or Dodgers (if it even got to that point).

Sox trade Cristian Mena to Arizona for OF Dominic Fletcher
Mena could be a middle of the rotation option and was expected to make his debut at some point this upcoming season. He's only 20 too. He did have some control issues in Charlotte, but he is quite young for the league. His calling card was his breaking ball, so maybe the Sox don't think he can be an option for the rotation with a mediocre fastball? Just seems odd to trade one of your top 10 prospects for a 5'9" glove-first RF option.

Sox trade Cristian Mena to Arizona for OF Dominic Fletcher
This is the only explanation. It has to be. I don't quite understand trading someone so young unless they clearly see something that is not fixable or won't play in the upper levels.

This is honestly a good deal for both sides. Sox could use a little extra cash in the draft and Berroa and DeLoach are not throw-ins. I really like Santos, but its hard to argue keeping a good reliever (who showed warning signs of injury) on a 100 loss team.

Whitesox sign Kevin Pillar to Minor League Deal 3M if he makes the club
Duvall also probably doesn't want to come here. He's still relatively good, and undoubtedly has a much bigger market and competition. Pillar is hanging onto the last chance to stay in the majors, and likely jumped at the chance to be a starter somewhere.

Cease To Padres per Passan
I actually think Moncada is more flippable than Eloy. Moncada has very good glove at 3B, and could easily be an attractive option for a team in the pennant race that doesn't want to break the bank on a big time deadline acquisition - especially if the Sox kick in enough cash to cover his buyout (which is 100% going to happen regardless of where he finishes the season). Eloy can't run, can't field, and can't stay healthy enough to make his bat worth it. I'd be stunned if he isn't bought out of his deal as well when the season ends.

Cease To Padres per Passan
I think they look at the flippable guys as already being on the team: Moncada and Eloy If either of them have a remotely productive year they are gone. I think Getz wants to totally gut this team and reshape it into something else.

Sox Interested in Dom Smith
Absolutely. I'd be down to see what that kid can do.

https://x.com/byrobertmurray/status/1753491203428159539?s=46&t=YB66BSH8MdsOmPwZtTqy1w This doesn’t make much sense to me unless it’s a MiLB deal.

Cease To Padres per Passan
Getz had the upper hand. Not anymore. You’re asking Cease to pitch like he did in 2022. Realistically, if that is his ceiling and 2023 is his floor, he will likely end up somewhere in the middle. Now you have added risk of injury and his team control decreasing by the day. I don’t see a scenario where his value is going to magically increase to the level that Getz is asking.

Orioles Acquire Corbin Burnes for Ortiz/Hall/34th Pick
Cease would have brought back more than what Burnes did simple for the extra year of control. I personally think Hall is a high leverage RP, I don’t see him starting long term. I think the best get in the whole deal is the draft pick. For one year of Burnes, I don’t think it’s that terrible of a return.

Orioles Acquire Corbin Burnes for Ortiz/Hall/34th Pick
I don't think it happens. I'm convinced moving Cease was required to clear $8M for any additional FA.

Good luck digging out of that hole Getz. You overplayed your hand.

Cease To Padres per Passan
Not really, we're roughly 2 weeks away from ST starting up. I really don't like how we may end up banking on Cease building up his value when the chances of his value remaining the same or decreasing are more likely to occur.

Cease To Padres per Passan
I'm a getting a little concerned he didn't play it correctly when its all said and done. I am very nervous about keeping Cease into the season.
