4/2 game, they going to get the game in?
ChiSox59 replied to chitownsportsfan's topic in 2025 Season in Review
Hasn't that been on the table for weeks at this point? Wasn't he one of the 6 - Thorpe, Berroa, Bush, Carela, Larson and Adams? -
Agreed. Keep running him out there please.
-
That last ball he hit is halfway up the bleachers more times than it's not. Not saying he's good, but seems like a weird time to bag on him.
-
Just a matter of time until WhiteSox2023 jumps on the Sheets bandwagon and lambastes the Sox endlessly for letting go of such an elite talent.

Lame post

Crochet is making $3.6M this year. He won't make more than $10M next year even if he wins the Cy. If his arm blows up over his next 65 starts, which is extremely likely IMO, he's never even coming close to sniffing that kind of money. I think this is a great deal for Garrett and one with significant risk for the Red Sox.
-
He gets his big deal.
-
Very nice. Sox could easily be 4-0, but Sat/Sun look a lot like the 24 club. Twins look horrific. Kick them while they're down!
-
Jake Burger is worthless on this roster. Bad trade yes. But he is not the solution and never was.
-
Digging the movement on Vasils pitches.

Well since Eder is gone, I'd definitely take 3 random guys. Still a little surprised with the Sox handling of Eder. I'd much rather try him out over 4-5 guys on the 40 man. But I don't pretend to know more about these players than they people making these decisions. It just felt like Eder could still be a big leaguer. Is what it is. Definitely a bad trade by the former regime, I just think its comical how many Sox fans think Burger is way better than he actually is. The Sox BADLY needed to get away from players like Jake Burger.
-
Jake Burger isn't good though. Yes he can run into some homers. Yes he is a likeable guy. No, Eder did not work out. But lets not act like the Fish made out like bandits. They saw what they had in Burger and dumped him for 2 guys that are incredibly unlikely to ever be big league contributors. Burger has to be one of the most overrated players in baseball by this fanbase. He can hit a bit, but not enough to be a DH, and he can't field a position. I wish him well, but he would have no purpose on this roster.

GT - 3/30 - Angels at Sox (1:10pm CST)

While I generally agree there is no reason to give up on Baldwin 1 series in, the guy does need to field the ball if he wants to play in the big leagues. He looked like an absolute butcher at 2B today and extremely uncomfortable. -

This game sure has the feel of a 2024 game. -
While I would be fine claiming Canario, the guy would just K 40% of the time. I do look forward to the threads posted here in a few weeks when he hits a homer and someone takes a victory lap.
-
There really isn't a good argument for this particular season and the circumstances on the roster.
-
Woof. Surprising choices. At least Getz appears willing to admit his mistakes. Hahn would have held onto Fletcher for several more seasons (though I'd rather play Fletcher than the shitty vets they signed).
-
Good. Zero reason to waste a year of service on this trashheap of a team. Call both him and Hagan Smith up in May 2026.
-
I mean, idk. This team is quite a bit worse on paper than last year's and anyone that plays over replacement level is and should be traded. I think 50 wins is likely the ceiling, but as I said, I sure hope to see some watchable baseball and be pleasantly surprised - at least at the start of the season.
-
I've never been more down on the Sox than I now. But Opening Day is still great. Sox are extremely likely to lose 115-125 games, but fuckina, we're allowed to have a tiny bit of hope today. The Angels blow too, so let's start this season off on the right foot with a series win!
-
Colas? I doubt he gets released. He'll either get claimed (likely), or he clear waivers and Sox send him back to AAA as non-roster depth (ideal).
-
Easy answer. Because they filled the roster with a bunch of worthless veterans with no value. The strategy is and has been fucking terrible.
-
Can't they add him back to the mlb roster then 60 day IL him?
-
So three more 40 man spots needed. Thorpe is 1. So 2 more guys on the chopping block and Eisert certainly seemed like he was going to be 1. With Tyler Gilbert supposedly going to the IL, pretty much has to be Schuster and Owen White considering 26 of the 40 man roster are pitchers.
-
Just not at all a fan of not giving Colas a chance this season. Writing has been on the wall, but I just don't like it. He must be a very real clubhouse issue.
