  1. I would think Eisert, Gilbert, White and Schuster would all be on the chopping block before Leasure. They can create a spot by putting Carela on the MLB 60 day. Leasure is one of the more interesting pen pieces they have IMO.
  2. 100%. I think this is the right decision even if he had a much better spring.
  3. D. Staff hiring and clear change of direction from previous regime only thing saving an F.
  4. Yeah, that is likely the group. This team might lose 130.
  5. Narvaez released and Meidroth told he's not making the team. Those 13 players just got harder to find.
  6. Merkin is kind of the worst. The Sox beat situation is in worse situation than the team.
  7. It makes plenty of sense. He likely had an opt out in his deal if he was not added to 40 man by today. Why would the Sox DFA a younger player just to IL Drury for 2 months? A guy that was literally awful last season, is nearly 33 and just had a hand injury. He's really of no use to the Sox right now if he cannot play. I'm sure they'll try to bring him back on an milb deal if he's willing.
  8. High hopes for a soon to be 33 year old without much of a defensive position that OPS'd .469 across nearly 400 plate appearances last season? Hah. Brandon Drury blows man.
  9. Can't help but wonder if this injury was disgustingly mismanaged.
  10. Pitchers get hurt. Not getting a legit position player back in the Cease deal was a failure. That being said, those guys are not really moved anymore.
  11. I was responding to a post that was only referring to position players and the fact that fringe guys like Colas, Fletcher and Sosa are getting crowded out by shitty vets that accomplish nothing for this club in short or long term for reasons I have already explained in this thread. I am excited for the season and will hope for the best. I am all for giving Getz rope. He is our guy whether we want him or not. But I don't at all agree with his strategy this offseason. I sincerely hope I am proven wrong and a couple of Slater, Drury, Tauchmann, Taylor turn into actual trade pieces that can return something meaningful. But color me skeptical. I'd rather just let the controllable fringe guys play in what is certain to be a 100+ loss season.
  12. Tanner Banks wasn't really a shitty vet tho. He had multiple years of cheap control. in any event, I am referring to the the slew of not good position players that are crowding out the roster, not pitchers.
  13. Like, I get where you're coming from, respect your opinion, and generally agree with your takes, but the Sox are going to suck ass no matter who they play. There is literally no upside in playing shitty vets on one year deals that aren't good enough to return anything of note even id they play well. So what's the point? To lose 107 games instead of 112? It doesn't matter. Chances are that Colas and Fletcher and Sosa aren't good major leaguers, but there is no reason not to find out when this season is already punted. here is to hoping Fletcher and Colas earn their way in AAA, because both should get a ton of MLb at bats in 25.
  14. Colson should play better then. He hasn't remotely earned a big league roster spot and putting him in the bigs out of ST would be organizational malpractice.
  15. I completely agree with this. We've signed so many scrap heap vets, that we're going to have to cut mildly interesting younger guys. None of these scrap heap guys are going to move the needle this year, be here long term, or are good enough to return anything noteworthy even if they have a really good first couple months of the season. I really dislike the strategy. FWIW - Carela can be added to the active roster and 60 day ILd worst case scenario...he isn't getting DFA.
  16. While this was a foregone conclusion, I still don't get it. Oscar likely just sucks, but there is not a good reason to not give him 500 at bats this season. If if if if it clicked, he's kind of what we've been looking for for decades. Chances of that happening are remote, but chances that any of Tauchman, Slater or Taylor being part of the future is ZERO, and the chances they return anything remotely interesting are way less than Colas turning into a valuable player. Just play the dude and see what happens.
  17. I don't think there is a much of a chance. Taylor signed an MLB deal and Colas has an option, and the Sox obviously aren't big fans. I'd absolutely give Colas as much of a shot as possible in 2025, but I also wouldn't have signed more than 1 of Tauchman, Slater and Taylor.
  18. Was not expecting Beni back that quickly. This is good news. He matches that 2nd half of 2024 in the first half of 2025, and Sox might actually be able to dump the rest of that contract.
  19. Why would they? They'd be lucky to lose less than 110 games.
  20. I'd personally just stick Sosa there most days until Colson proves he is ready. meidroth isn't really a SS and hasn't been great in ST. Would have happily given him the job, but I'd send him to Charlotte for a few weeks based on the 40 man and his ST performance. Vargas, Sosa, Rojas/Drury, AV from left to right to start. Mix in Baldwin. I don't have much interest in rostering Amaya. Pretty thin on true SS that way, but Sosa, Baldwin and Rojas can all stand there.
  21. I don't hate them. A bit beer league softballish, but they look good. I was always luke warm on the old ones. Looked good on certain players, dumb on others. I wouldn't be caught dead wearing one tbh.
  22. I suppose. I personally really like listening to the commentary directly from the players and staff. That's going to be harder to get this season without DVS and Vinny unless someone good is added or someone significant changes their ways. Fegan is certainly capable, and I suppose this just requires an another subscription from me. I just enjoy the instant Twitter content.
  23. I was always a fan of DVS because he would always share post game comment videos directly to his Twitter. As an out of town fan, there isn't really any way to get post game comments otherwise. And Merk is brutal - his stuff is all fluff, no analysis. The definition of a company man. He talks more about Michigan on Twitter than the Sox. Not a fan at all.
