Now a days Toronto is the " sports city" in Canada, not Montreal. Last year there was a push to split games with Tampa and Montreal because of weather. Tampa, new stadium or not, will draw for a few years and then it will be right back to 15,000 or less. Imagine attendance if the Rays ever have a lousy team?

In any deal. I want a quality SP in first or 2nd pick. I like Teel as a 2nd but then I want a pitcher as the headliner. Having said that, not sure Boston has a SP headliner.

I would love to kind a Red Sox match, but I think the Red Sox may have more Class A guys than AAA guys. Red Sox may have a LF/RF after a few of their moves but a SP may not be a good match.

My guess is if Cease is traded we should get a legit bat and a legit SP but after that my guess is a Class A prospect.

The White Sox also need pitching especially if Cease gets moved.

It happens with the Yankees but it can also be a rule in other companiesas well. I think it is dumb but the owner can make "some rules" and if a player doesn't like it he can go elsewhere. Obviously a ton of very talented -players have followed the rule in order to play for the Yankees.

The manager is one piece but not a big one. There are a bunch of holes and Grifol is not the person filling the holes. Many of us hopes Grifol leaves but the manager is not going to turn us from a loser to a winner. Maybe Grifol affects the team by 5-7 wins in either direction.

That probably negates Morosi 's take of trading Mariner pitching for Robert since they just traded 2 pitches to Atlanta. Looks like he didn't read yesterday's paper or it was an older article.

Except a stud CF has a much more attractive feel than a stud pitcher. If fans are choosing home games based on who is playing, the CF is the obvious way to go. I hope both Cease and Robert survive but it appears Cease is needed to bring in new blood

I just read this morning that the Red Sox are looking to add a 2B to strengthen a weakness they see . Seems like they are looking at Cincy and Yyankee 2B as options. Then I see White Sox have probably signed DeJong to bolster their infield. This is why we are shopping in the bargain bins for a player that was let go in 2023. Luckily Getz found him...................

I think in the end, the Sox will hold on to Cease and see if he can attract more interest at the mid-season trade deadline.

The bigger question is who made the decision to bring back Grifol. Was it JR or Getz? Was it strictly based on financials? Getz may have said thank you for the job and yes I will bring him back, as you say, for another year.

The Rays want a new stadium so they can start getting 10,000 fans per game. This is a total joke. I will say once again that Tampa Bay/St Pete really needs to move to a better location. They have done a great job of turning their team into a good product on the field. Now they need a fan base that will come out and support their team.

But Hahn and Williams were here and they saw the same things. Either Getz( and company) is smarter than those two, JR has decided to put more money into the team or Getz is really Hahn 2 and he is just talking a good game. We will see pretty soon if this is another rebuild or if JR is going to put up more money to turn this thing around. Because if Getz is only moving the pieces around the board we will be no better off.

Just my opinion, but It is 20 miles and 25 minutes between the Trop and Raymond James Stadium. It takes me 42 minutes to drive from SSC Florida to the Trop. It takes an 1hr13 minutes to drive from RI to Fenway. Again ,for Tampa bay fans to Trop is a walk in the park. Their fans just are not real baseball fans old stadium or new. Now the Lightning and Bucs fans are real fans and would go to St Pete or Clearwater or where ever to see their teams.

Not sure why geography would affect a site for a new Trop. I am a snowbird and have attended Rays games in April and Red Sox the rest of the year. Red Sox fans think nothing of driving 90 minutes or more to attend Red Sox games. In addition, Boston is a very busy traffic area in all directions around Boston. Tampa is a moderate traffic area at best but is growing somewhat the last few years. It seems to me that Tampa or St Pete are not a real baseball towns. Maybe the weather provides too many other thngs to do. In addition, many people are transplanted from all around the country and settled in Florida so their fan base is limited. They don't draw even when the team is having several years in a row of success. But it looks like the Trop is going to get a new stadium. My guess is by 2030, the newness will wear out and the team will be back to drawing small crowds. Miami draws limited crowds as well.

Charlotte has 12 games left while White Sox have 18. Not sure what the rationale is giving one of our better prospects less games as the season winds down. I would think Colas should be getting as many MLB at bats as possible before the season ends.

The Cubs had a rookie manager in Ross in 2020 and they look like they are doing pretty well. It is not the years spent as manager but the success rate he can achieve once he gets the job.

I guess I would feel that a younger player would still be excited to improve their game. But it does seem like the team is just on a downward spiral. Getz has a lot of work to do in the off-season.

It depends what "high" means. The pitching staff needs addressing and the Sox need several #2 type starters. Hopefully not starters who are #4-5 starters looking to rebound after being released somewhere else. We also need some everyday FA players in their prime who are looking for a new home. We should know how the team is going as the roster is constructed this fall. If it is the "same old tired faces" in next year's lineup we are screwed.

If Getz is now the SVP/GM , then I am rooting that he can start to move this team upward. Most of us are true White Sox fans , so we should hope that Getz starts to mold this franchise into a competitive team. Probably won't happen next year but we hope to see progress in multiple areas of the organization. Like many fans, I have my concerns that JR doesn't have a clue what he is doing. But as a fan, I hope Getz can start to turn this team around. We will see fairly soon how much money is put into this team to start building Robert's new team around him.
