May 1 vs O's straight doubleheader 3:10 PM start time

Agree with you on everything but bold. Rondon was merely a L/R swap. Maybe because he is a .225 career hitter, he bunts better than he bats swinging away. -

Jack: I don't follow your reasoning. Rodon has pitched slightly better than Lopez and Giolito this season. All 3 have been pretty mediocre. Why do you see Rodon as the worst of the 3? -
Yeah but living in New England it is frustrating for me to see many of their prospects produce from Day 1. Devers is killing it and this kid was blocked. So they bring him up and move him around at !B and DH and he produces. This kid in 2 weeks has put up the same numbers as Eloy in half the ABs.
-
FWIW: Their starters have had problems. Price has probably been the best. Sale has been coming on and Porcello had his best outing last night. But ERod was lousy Monday. I think their bullpen is blah as well. Offensively they are also struggling. Pedroia is out but they call up some kid Chavis from AAA and he is killing it early. What we wish our prospects would do when they arrive. Hope we get 3 out of 4.

Very unlikely but not zero chance. Suppose Anderson trips and falls running to 2nd or overslides the bag on a throw. If they are to remove this rule, they would also have to remove the rule for ground rule doubles where again the ball has left the park.
-
I agree with your idea, but the Sox would be better off moving him to 1st in Charlotte. It is really difficult trying to learn a new position in the majors. He has been working at !B in the minors but I guess not in games.
-
Are you saying call him up and let him catch and if that fails then convert him to a !B back in AAA?
-
White Sox aside. How many starting pitchers in the majors skipped AAA. How many position players went to the Majors right from A ball. I think Robert needs to at least play 1 year in AA/AAA and Cease needs to spend 2-3 months in AAA.

Ironically, he has had had 2 poor starts and 4 solid ones. The 2 poor ones were at home. -
Eloy is another player who played limited games in AAA. For some guys, it just takes time. Revisit his status in July.

Not perfect. Great showing by our rebuild pieces, Moncada and Anderson. Not so great by Rodon. -
I bet he wished he could take that back. "The Sox front office has received the scorn of many fans this past week but this recent signing of Santana is a quality acquisition." https://southsideshowdown.com/2019/02/22/white-sox-sign-ervin-santana/

I am sure there is some write-off his accountants will use for a failed investment.
-
I agree 23 is not young. But a pitcher who has not thrown 25 games above A Ball is not experienced. Experience is probably more important than age. The kid had a very short stint in AA never mind just geeting his feet wet in AAA. I think he would be better getting at least 12-15 AAA starts.
-
Just to be clear. If he goes FA, JD Martinez will insist on playing the outfield for some number of games(20-25%). He is mediocre but not awful.
-
DUH!!! You are wrong. When he bats 5th, he is hitting .179. Against only LH pitching, he is batting .286.
-
It is not reacting to 28 AB. It is now 180 AB from the right-side. RR did the same thing last season. When a lefty started he moved him down usually to 6th spot. But last year Yoan also had a better % against lefties than he did when hitting lower in the order. RR is assuming he struggles w LH pitching. He does to some extent. But he has more problems regardless of the pitcher when he hits outside the top of the order.
-
Earlier in the season, I complained about RR moving Yoan out of the 2nd spot against lefties. Several posters justified it w his history against lefties. Having said that, I still don't understand RR moving him down in the order. I wish somebody in the organization w a calculator could figure this out for Rick. It is still early but Yoan is quickly approaching 100 AB. So far: RH batter -28 AB--.286 avg. SO= 14% LH batter -66 AB--.318 avg. SO= 28% Yes he had problems in the past against lefties but so far he is doing pretty well this year. Overall he has really improved his SO rate and is actually doing better as a RH hitter with a small sample. But when does he struggle???? 2nd in batting order--58 AB--.362 avg. SO=26% 5th in batting order--28 AB--.179 avg SO= .25% He also had 8 AB in the leadoff spot. So in case no one in the organization is keeping stats, moving Yoan from 2nd to 5th for the games s a lefty starts is having a negative impact.

I think it is like everything else, you play the percentages. Remember less than 50% of Top 100 prospects make it in the MLB. It would be interesting to see what % of FA signings match or exceed their previous season.
-
Agree but a couple of last year's, Lorenzo Cain(6.9) and JD Martinez(6.4 )had huge years.

Steverson needs a raise..............

Also he didn't put the time in AAA to ready himself for the majors. It was great to see him sign this spring but it set him back as far as his development. Hopefully by June he will find his hitting groove -
I think JDM would be a great addition to the lineup and clubhouse. I don't see the FO giving him $150Mil for 5 years( at age 32) which is what it will most likely take. But he would look great on the South Side. He will also want a guarantee that he plays some % of games in the field but he is not Eloy out there.

The Anderson Saga (continued from game thread)
SCCWS replied to Dick Allen's topic in Pale Hose Talk
I understand your point but in sports today, that is not the case. As many have mentioned, every touchdown turns into a celebration these days. Most dunks gets a player doing a face and scream to the camera under the basket. Remember in hockey when a player scored a goal and the players on the ice celebrated. They still do. But someone started the 2nd phase which is to skate by the bench so they can get involved. So looking at sports today, celebrating a homerun is really no different than what they are doing in all the other major sports.
