After an exhaustive search, Getz named GM/VP
Ok well that’s better I guess…didn’t know that. But obviously there’s just no reason for him to be around in general. Don’t even want Tony having input on who the next GM should be

After an exhaustive search, Getz named GM/VP
The fact that TLR was already brought in as a consultant tells me all I need to know…it’s going to be a weak hire that is another puppet. No up and coming GM with options is going to come and work under JR and have Tony’s stinky beer breathe down their neck.

KW/Hahn - They Gone
There is no quick fix. Hire someone who can draft and develop a minor league system so we can hope for sustained success in 3 years or so. Trying to band aid this roster together to go for a .500 record will only result in more disaster…unless JR suddenly opens up the checkbook, which ain’t happening.
-
Sooo, parallel universe: Who would you hire?
Amiel Sawdaye would be my choice. A young(ish) fresh mind with a history of great drafting and player development with both Boston and now Arizona

KW/Hahn - They Gone
So if they intend to hire someone this season doesn’t that all but guarantee it’s someone internal or currently unemployed? Could they even conduct front office interviews from other teams during the season?
-
KW/Hahn - They Gone
Please don’t go internal. Hire somebody from the Braves or Rays and overhaul this thing. There’s no band aid big enough to fix this organization in the short term, bring someone in that can build a minor league system and identify talent. If it’s not Getz I’m curious what ancient dinosaur Jerry can dig up to do the job. I don’t have high hopes for liking the hire

Reinsdorf considers moving White Sox out of Guaranteed Rate Field or selling team
Im no expert, but moving a bad team to a new city in Tennessee seems like a sure fire disaster. Maybe you’ll get more fans in the beginning out of novelty, but no way that’s a sustainable market. Jerry should try this really crazy money making idea…put effort into having a winning team. Really out there idea, I know. And since he has shown that he has zero interest in doing that for a decade plus, the obvious answer is sell the team. Take your billions and move on Jerry.

8/20 Games
Nope. I think it’s a foregone conclusion that the surgery still needs to happen at some point. Wouldn’t doubt there’s another missed year coming

A Sobering Thought...
This seems like a “no duh” type of thing. The front office can say whatever they want, but I doubt even the biggest homer Sox fans believe it. Clearly the team stinks and there’s 0 path out anytime soon. Rebuild the rebuild and maybe we get lucky and Jerry is no longer the owner in 3-5 years. Might be able to push for a playoff run by then

$75M = One of the worst White Sox LF Seasons
Pretty baffling how a guy loses all of his power at age 28. I know he had a broken hamate bone last year, but his power struggles started before that. Nor is that usually a career altering injury. Am I missing something else that could explain it? Going from averaging 16.5 HR’s/year in your 1st 4 full seasons to not being able to crack 10 over a 2 year span doesn’t make any sense. Especially since he’s still making fairly regular contact. It would be less weird if he suddenly couldn’t make contact at all.

Riordan: Physical altercation between TA and Grandal before AS break
What about this story makes you think TA is a cancer?

Keynan Middleton rips White Sox 'no rules' culture
When ownership doesn’t care about wins and losses there’s always going to be a trickle down effect. No accountability exists within the entire organization.

Ramirez says, "Anderson disrespects the game..."
If an adulterer is your line of morality you should really stop watching sports all together then. There aren’t many guys your delicate self could possibly root for

Liam TJS
I hate this organization as much as anyone right now…but I don’t see anyone is to blame for this. Liam’s elbow has been a ticking time bomb for a while.

Burger To Marlins
The amount of people just casually glossing over a .279 OBP is a little crazy honestly. It’s been said 50 times already, yes Jake is an awesome guy all around and easy to root for, but it doesn’t change the fact that he just isn’t good at making contact with a baseball. If I’m not mistaken he’d be on pace to easily break the strike out record in a season if he was a full time player all year. Wish Burger the best and would happily eat crow if he improves over the next couple of years…but I do think this was the smart time to trade him.

Who the heck could the Sox even sign in FA next year?
Oh of course, they should def take as many shots on high upside 1 year deals as possible. I just read the OP as something like “who can we sign to fix this and compete right away?” And my answer is definitely still no one.

Who the heck could the Sox even sign in FA next year?
At this point going out and signing vet free agents would be like getting rims put on a broken down Ford Taurus. This team isn’t getting turned around in 1 year, probably not even 2. I don’t think this is the off season to spend even if it were a possibility. Free agency should be used to push a good roster over the to maybe compete for a championship, this organization needs probably about a dozen good players before we even talk playoffs. Wait it out, suck another year, let all the $ come off the books, and then maybe start to build the roster back with free agents for a playoff push after we have a few more young guys come up and hopefully supplement the roster.

Graveman to Astros for C Korey Lee
Not that it’s the end all be all…but MLB pipeline re-slotted our system after the trades already. Lee at 13. https://www.mlb.com/prospects/whitesox/ Not sure what to think of him, just a quick google and you’ll see 2 scouting reports that say he will have to move off of catcher and 2 that say his defense is fine. If he can stick at catcher and keep his OBP respectable he should at least a major leaguer. A cheap backup catcher with HR pop certainly isn’t the worst thing. Obviously hope for more tho
-
Graveman to Astros for C Korey Lee
Seems like a big time gamble/boom or bust guy…but for a rental reliever, that’s fine. From what I’m reading Lee seems like an Evan Gattis type of comp? Or is his defense better than mlb pipeline reads?

Sox Twins Gamethread
We’ve been in “root for losses” territory for a few weeks now. Job well done boys, way to keep the hopes of a top 5 pick alive

Predict the lineup: August 1 at Texas
At this point you’re selling TA at his all time lowest value. Hard to see any team giving up anything significant while he’s having a horrific season. I’d rather roll the dice next year and see if he improves rather than trade him just for the sake of trading him
-
2023 MLB Draft thread
Seems like an attempt at a below slot pick that could potentially fill a 2B need soonish? At least that’s what I assume this broken franchise is thinking

Hahn should be on the phones trying to trade Lynn as I type this…don’t risk another string of bad starts

Will AV even be better than…
It’s Vaughn and literally every other player in the organization, besides maybe Cease and Gio. Every other player in this organization has either not met expectations or has gotten worse upon arrival. I agree Vaughn’s ceiling is limited, but wouldn’t shock me to see him be an above average starter once he leaves. It’s more than time to admit that this organization is rotten to its core and it’s not the individual players. I wish I knew the exact reason behind it, but clearly there’s a major problem that prevents players from succeeding here.
