After watching the Rays and judging on this game alone, I dont think us vs them would have been a stomp as some predicted.

It is going to be a weird offseason for our pitching depth, and I expect quite a few trades to take place. Before considering potential free agents, Fangraphs has our projected starting rotation to be: Sean Burke - R Davis Martin - R Anthony Kay - L Luis Castillo - R Hagen Smith - L I am not sure about Hagen Smith. I can see us having him in the bullpen for a bit longer. Crochet pitched 66 innings in the bullpen before he was let loose. Hagen Smith is at 28ip, and I am not 100% convinced he has mastered his command. I can see him sticking it out in the bullpen for a while. I also expect Grant Taylor to get a shot at the starting rotation at some point next year. He has stated he wants to be a starter, and I don't see why the team wouldn't oblige him. It is better value for everyone. This is where the money is, he has shown his stamina is where it needs to be, and his arm is healthy. 84 innings this year is pretty substantial. Then you have those who are knocking on the door for a back end of the rotation spot. I trust some over the others and ranked them as I see them: David Sandlin - R Noah Schultz - L - Likely going the bullpen route? Drew Thorpe - R Shane Smith - R Outside shot at SP depth: Shane Murphy - L - Bullpen? Tanner McDougal - R - Bullpen? Ky Bush - L - Emergency doom case Jonathon Cannon - R - Emergency doom case Adding 1-2 SP will definitely force Getz to make some moves this offseason. He has to sign at least 1 SP right? Even if he doesn't sign anyone, you have to imagine a couple of the more fringe guys get dealt (Thorpe, Smith, Kay), or maybe Schultz is included in a bigger trade. I think people expecting a whale of a SP signing are going to be very disappointed. Castillo is going to get a long leash you would have to imagine.

if Braden can get his wRC+ against LHP from 17 to ~80-100 he will be OK. Lots of work for him in the offseason to improve his RH swing.

Unfortunately I won't be able to think about this season without remembering the last 3 games of the ALDS. Maybe in time I will but I doubt it

What is the solution? Move the mound back? I don't know how you decrease Ks without making significant changes.

I know the hitting philosophy is "f*** the strikeout" and I kind of bought into it throughout the year, but the ALDS really exposed that. I would like to see 1-2 less K prone players in the lineup next year. Meidroth, Antonacci, Peters, Vargas really showed me something this year. Colson, Mune - having both of them in the lineup kills rallies Braden - please work on your RH swing Benintendi - I can't wait until hes gone, 0-7 with 7 Ks in the ALDS Teel - I am still high on Teel and like Bart as the backup catcher Colson should be good trade bait, but man its hard to give up on a player of his potential..

This is a good point. If he doesn't come out blazing hes going to get booed out of the stadium.

The vets needed to come through. I understand Meidroth in game 3 striking out in the first inning the way he did, but the vets looking that bad cant happen.

Getz has done a great job at rebuilding, but has failed in his first test at bolstering a contender. I think its fair to separate the two. The only thing that can absolve Deadline Getz, other than Castillo returning to form next year, is knowing who we were targeting, and what exactly was asked as far as prospect packages. Unfortunately we probably will never know. Like what were the Angels asking for Soriano or Detmers (if we were even on them at all)? If they wanted Hagen Smith or Schultz and one of Bonemer or Carlson, I understand the not going in on them. But man we could have just gone after Griffin.

And Cleveland gave up ~7 prospects for them, only one from their top 30 was included (#17). Meanwhile we gave up Adams (#7) and Smith (now ranked #14 in the Mariners system). We also gave up a high upside international prospect who has torched the DSL so far at 17 years old.

its always a good time. The FOs have played out just like the games. Cleveland touches Adell and he saves their lineup. We get geriatric Brazoban and he stubs his toe and cant pitch. 4/5 of our acquisitions arent even on the ALDS roster. Adell/Griffin saved this series for the Guardians. The deadline reminds me of my fantasy football draft. "Barkley is going to bounce back after his down year.. ill draft him over Walker.. oh and ill grab Jayden Daniels after.. heh im so smart". Meanwhile the guy thats going to win the league took Walker and waited on a QB till the ninth round that is performing very well. f***!!!!!

Some of those guardians hits were brutal. The one that squibbled by Colson, the Braden miscatch, and the Chase one. So infuriating.

I feel like the crowd got to our guys last night. Its like they felt the pressure of the postseason for the first time, or pressed to not disappoint the home crowd. Good experience. Hopefully they dont disappoint tonight!

That third inning felt like such a kick in the balls.. - Hudson 7 of his first 8 pitches were balls - 2 blown ABS challenges I honestly feel that if Hudson locks in Cleveland never comes back.

Why couldn't we have the 9/1-9/17 version of Hudson (8IP, 6K, 0ER) instead of the 9/18-9/26 version (17 batters faced, 8ER, 0K)

Other than media attention, it feels like every baseball fan is adopting us as their #2 team, or most wanted team to win this year. So many good stories its hard not to be a fan.

Cleveland fans dont boo their team either. Astros fans have been spoiled, they deserve a long period of failure and disappointment
