Chasing Records — 121 losses, modern MLB record
Highland replied to Paulie4Pres's topic in Pale Hose Talk
Don't care what the team does in regard to any record. 2024 is a nightmare on its own accord and an indication of more losing yet to come. Rebuild my ass. This organization doesn't care about putting a winning team on the field. Have stopped watching games because I don't want to hear and see the death march led by Schriffen and Stone Poney. -
Who cares? In the end, he'll make no difference. 100 more losses next season.
-
Yes, the stuff about the proposed stadium is getting sickening. I hope it never happens. And, yes, there is no sense of reality within this organization. Only the most gullible is buying the rebuild story, a rebuild that will never produce a winner. Yet, we hear a lot about a milkshake. Next year is the 20th anniversary of the World Series championship. The team hasn't come close since. And how are they going to celebrate this anniversary? With another 100-loss season and the hopes of a new stadium? I swear, it can't get any worse than this.
-
Getz saying the rebuild will take a long time is the obvious way of telling fans the team is not going to spend money in the next off season. Yes, he needs to go. But this is a much bigger problem than Chris Getz. The whole organization needs an overhaul, and a ton of money needs to be spent. Telling fans to wait for a rebuild to work is like telling passengers on the Titanic to keep bailing. Someone close to JR has to try to get through to him. This franchise has become a laughingstock and making a few changes here and there isn't going to help. Right now, there is no reason for any fan to go to any game. This is not a major league organization. Talk of a new stadium only makes things worse. We fans should just laugh, because the Chicago White Sox are a complete joke.

Chet Lemon in bad shape from multiple strokes
Highland replied to The Mighty Mite's topic in Pale Hose Talk
Hope for the best. Great player from the South Side HItmen. -
Last year, after a 101-loss season, JR didn't talk about what could be done about improving the team. His only concern was getting the taxpayers to build a new stadium. He doesn't care about leaving a legacy of winning. He wants that new stadium to be his legacy. So, he won't say anything, even in the face of this failure.
-
Other than slashing payroll, I don't know what course Getz is on. The long term? This means the losing will continue. Cave? The Sox will do whatever they want to do even if they continue to lose. I have every confidence in that. Success? That is yet to be determined, and it may be years from now, if ever.

Maybe number three with deep reservations. I do not have any expectations of this franchise and won't invest emotions in it. I won't invest money either as 2004 will be the first time since 1981 when I will not have attended a game. Not worth it.

What major league team is that? -
I know of no such rule. All I know is that I am not buying into this so-called rebuild. It is nothing but a scam on major league scale.
-
Contracting will not happen, but it should. This is not a major league team and won't be for a long time.
-
I agree with this. This is not a major league team. And they won't be in the foreseeable future. MLB should not allow this to continue.
-
Schriffen wasn't bad today, but he would have a better time not trying to tell us this was a good team. Should have done some research before takin the job. But, in the long run, the team's performance is much more important.
-
What is truly hilarious is that Getz is the one making this decision. Looking forward to another 100-loss season.
-
Something should have been done long, long ago. In 2011, when Ozzie was talking about fans urinating on statues, and the team was underperforming, a real housecleaning should have been done. Both KW and Ozzie should have been fired in mid-season. Instead, the FO fell asleep at the switch, and two years later the Sox barely avoided losing 100 games. Since 2008, the Sox have won a grand total of two post season games. And the power structure really hasn't changed.
-
Praise doesn't come easy when a team is going to lose well over 100 games. When it is two consecutive 100 loss seasons doesn't help either, especially when it has never happened in team history. Don't worry. Another losing streak is on the way.

Stone not sure he will be back in 25, season "wearing on him"
Highland replied to southsider2k5's topic in Pale Hose Talk
That is too bad. He really needs to go. If I were him, I wouldn't want to do another season with Schriffen. -
Basically, since winning the division in 2008, this team hasn't done anything. The 2010s was the first decade since the 1970s when the team didn't go to the playoffs at least once. It looked like the team was on autopilot as the losing seasons kept adding up. "Buried" is a good way of putting it. Look for another 100-loss year in 2025. 20 years since the World Series. The decades just fly by when you're losing.
-
That's just it. No one knows. Even if the team picks up some good young players, no one can guess on their progress. I don't understand how this organization can expect fans to be optimistic with the way things are. I am not into constant rebuilding.
-
It has been that kind of year. 2025 will be no different.

Stone not sure he will be back in 25, season "wearing on him"
Highland replied to southsider2k5's topic in Pale Hose Talk
Get rid of both and start all over. Stone is burned out and Schriffen is awful. -
Kopech w/LA 5 games, 5 IP, 8 Ks, no walks. ERA 0.00, 1-0.
Highland replied to hankchifan's topic in Pale Hose Talk
Kopech would never keep his composure on the mound. His concentration just wasn't there. He'd let bad calls or mistakes get to him. I don't know if the Sox staff ever addressed this, but Maldonaldo did one time, and Kopech finished the inning okay. -
This team is in need of a winning streak, even a small one. All this losing has to get to them. 12 runs and 18 hits were amazing.
