  1. Next year, the Sox will be a losing team with or without Clevinger. I am for losing without him.
  2. The Sox have had more than a few bad seasons during the last 50+ years, but this is the worst. And I wonder what is really bad. Is it the horrible play on the field or the talking heads trying to tell us everything will be just fine? How deep does the denial run?
  3. I do think they are attempting to send a message to the fans, too, because of criticism that no one is held accountable. Just like when Getz made the quick decision to keep Grifol. Getz was attempting to show he was acting independently of JR when the opposite was thought, at least by some. Lot of message sending here. I don't think it is hitting home.
  4. This is what I mean. It is only the rookies. Suddenly Grifol is doing the tough guy role when it is way too late for that. The season was lost in April.
  5. Colas hasn't been good, but I don't see the point in this. Who are they going to put in right field? Sheets? Besides that, the team is going nowhere, so what more damage can Colas do? I don't know what message the team is trying to send the fans, but what they are doing is pointless. This does not instill confidence.
  6. That double header in 1967 was key. The Sox had blown a three-run lead in the ninth inning the day before and had lost the first two games of a four-game series. That pitching staff was something else. They would win a 10-inning game 4-0 and a 17-inning game 1-0. The team just didn't have any hitters.
  7. I know mounting a rally against a team's closer is hard, but that ninth inning was pathetic. And how many times have the Sox gone through a ninth without even getting the ball out of the infield? Too many, way too many. And Getz: just watch two or three Sox games. You won't need to talk to Pedro to know what in the hell is wrong.
  8. The Bears are taking us back to the early 70's when they were an absolute joke. There is no reason to watch this so-called team.
  9. Why does he have to spend time with Pedro or anyone else? Just watch this team for 2 or 3 games and you'll see what's wrong. You're right. Weaknesses are everywhere.
  10. If you have seen a Dick Allen home run, you never forget it.
  11. There is only one Sox player who could match Dick Allen in pure talent: Luis Robert. And he hasn't put it together yet.
  12. Brooks Boyer's commercial was brilliant. For the first time, it demonstrated that someone in the organization understood Sox fans. In politics, you have to win your core voters first. Then you can reach out to others. The commercial rallied the Sox faithful and that was sorely needed. Yes, cub fans and the Chicago sports media cried like babies, but so what? Like Lip said, you have to be aggressive. Things are at a bigger low now. The team is losing some of its most loyal fans. They need to do something creative. The same old nonsense is not going to work. It's time to reach out to your base while there is a base left.
  13. 2005 was the last time I remember an AL Central first place team actually being good.
  14. The worst thing about this team is not that it will finish with a losing season. The fact that is has a real chance to lose 100 games is what is truly bad. Losing 100 is a special kind of bad. I recall sitting in old Comiskey Park watching the 1970 team lose 106. I felt more sorry for the team than anger. There was a headline in the Sun-Times in May, 1970, saying that the team drew a little over 18,000 for a doubleheader. Yes, the Sox drawing just under 20,000 made headlines. I wonder if the team is returning to those days.
  15. They went beyond saying he was their top prosect. They had him walking on water. In addition, when he first came up, he even had worse command than he does now. His fast ball was over the place, and he nearly took a couple guys' heads off. When he did get his fast ball over, it was knocked well into the seats. Then he needs Tommy John surgery after pitching in the major leagues for a month. Forget your lol. I stand by what I earlier stated. Putting unrealistic expectations on a young player isn't wise. In the end, Kopech has never lived up to the hype. And he never will.
  16. The team was making him out to be a superstar before he threw one major league pitch. Yes, he had a great arm. But there are pitchers and then there are throwers. In the beginning, Kopech was still a thrower. Of course, this was done because of the tank job and the Sox needed the fans to get excited about. Let the guy learn how to pitch first. Then he can be labeled as a super star. Hard throwers like Kopech are frequently as they develop. Look at what happened to Kerry Wood.
  17. How long has these two teams been bad? How long will they be bad?
  18. The Kopech situation has been mishandled from day one. Might as well keep him for now because the staff is so depleted. He can't be expected to be part of the rotation next year.
  19. Good effort tonight. I hope Vaughn can turn into the good hitter said he was. The last two homers were impressive. Nervous any time any Sox reliever comes into the game.
  20. Face it, The Cubs are in, one way or the another.
  21. The Sox never took Thomas's injuries seriously. They didn't in 1999. They didn't in 2001. More mismanagement.
  22. They have to know it, because we fans know it. We needed change and got the same old thing. On owner set in his ways and in complete denial. Meanwhile, Cease continues to implode as does Kopech. Does this team even have a rotation?
  23. Think about it. If you're with another team, who, besides Robert, would you want from the White Sox? Maybe Anderson if you think a change of scene could help him. But, as of this moment, I would not want any other player on the Sox roster. What could the Sox possibly offer in a trade? Really, no one. Hey, Chris, are you sure you want this job?
