JR can keep his money, but, as a fan, I am not buying into this "rebuild." Why he is willing to associate his name with a laughingstock is beyond me. I am not waiting for this team to be a contender because I don't see it happening. So, why even waste emotion with this hopeless situation? The only thing I am certain of is that 2025, the 20th anniversary of the World Series championship, will be another 100-loss season. Looking forward to SoxFest.

I wonder about this front office. So many fans have lost faith already. What if this newest "rebuild" fails? Who will be left? The team has to spend money somewhere. The last 17 years have stunk.

Stone not sure he will be back in 25, season "wearing on him"
Highland replied to southsider2k5's topic in Pale Hose Talk
I won't miss him. He turned into a real Sox fan hater. The team hasn't done anything in over 15 years, and he lashes out at us. Good-bye. His heart wasn't in it for a time anyway. I wondered why he wanted the job. I wonder if Schriffen will have to call Beckham "the legend." -
In a way whether JR spends or not doesn't matter to me. I have no confidence in this so-called rebuild. Absolutely none.

There is a motto: "You have to spend money to make money." It doesn't mean you overspend or throw money away. It means you have to spend something. They will have to spend a little money in the offseason. If they don't, we fans will get to watch another minor league team.
-
I never expect this team to spend. I also don't expect this team to win much for the next few years. Another 100-loss season next year.

This is bad for baseball. The league shouldn't have a team that others can fatten themselves off of. The White Sox are just not a major league level club. I do get tired of the old solution of a "complete rebuild." What good does it do to trade for young talent when you can't develop it? Or when it is time to add some free agents, but you can't recognize major league talent? That is why someone from the outside needs to come in and evaluate this franchise. Doing the same thing only prolongs bad results. But this would mean the organization would actually have to admit to themselves that they don't know what they are doing. And they wouldn't want to do that. Being in denial is easier. Fire Grifol. So what? HIs replacement will only be mired in a bad system. Spare me the talk about a rebuild. This team has done nothing since winning the division in 2008. Unless there is a massive overhaul of this organization, the losing will continue.

The bullpen is awful but so is the offense. In the two losses, they scored three runs. But don't worry, the rebuild will only take a decade or so.

Robert is too talented a guy to play like this. Trade him in the off season. No haul? So what. just don't trade him to a contender. Send him to another losing franchise and see what he does there.

Gamethread: 8/5 - I Have A Bad Feeling About This One
Highland replied to hi8is's topic in 2024 Season in Review
Didn't watch the game but see the offense did its usual thing. For me, there is no reason to watch anymore. No one on this team is doing anything. Enough of the "rebuild." This front office can't build anything. -
I've stopped watching. Schriffen is awful, and Stone is embarrassing himself. And nothing seems to shame this franchise. It is frustrating because the team has never been in this bad a shape. This is we get for tanking. More tanking is on the way.
-
For some reason, this organization doesn't want to give Colas a chance, yet they have marched Sheets out there time and time again. Sheets, like so many on this team, is not a major league player.
-
Any owner who had anything going for him would fire Grifol and Getz today. I have memories of some bad White Sox teams but absolutely nothing like this. Players have quit on this team. Players leave this team to make less elsewhere. This is the biggest joke played on fans. That is not a major league team out there. JR just doesn't have any credibility. No one can look at this situation and not recognize massive changes have to be made. Next year will be another 100-loss season. What is he going to tell fans then? They are rebuilding and it will take time? And even if this so-called rebuild works, how many fans will the team have left by then? 4? 5? Maybe one day the team will lose only 90.

Chasing Records — 121 losses, modern MLB record
Highland replied to Paulie4Pres's topic in Pale Hose Talk
Can they at least fire Schriffen? -
Because to JR, it is acceptable. He's been sitting in the owner's box for almost the last 20 years since the World Series, and his biggest move was to hire Tony LaRussa. And now we have Chris Getz. You would think he would be tired of having his name associated with so much losing, but I guess not. Don't forget that new stadium.
-
I think this is an excellent plan. This franchise has no future anyway, not in the short run or in the long run.
-
This is what the White Sox have never understood. It is one thing to lose so-called "fair-weather" fans. It is quite another thing to lose loyal fans. And they have been losing them by the thousands for decades. Now they expect us to buy into a plan where they trade for or otherwise sign a good player so they can trade him for another player who is not major league ready. Now, there's a real plan. Where do I sign up? Oh wait. I can't. I am a fair- weather fan. I'll come back when they're winning. When will that be? 2050 maybe?

Eloy was the biggest disappointment. Injuries and everything else just ruined him. i thought he was going to be a huge offensive force for years.
-
Pedro hasn't been fired yet. Until he is, any speculation is premature. Are we sure he will be fired?
-
Moving forward to what?
-
If you look at the Sox from 1990 - 2006, the team had some great and talented players. They should have won more than one World Series. But since 2007, they have not been able to acquire or develop solid major league talent. Still can't. They will celebrate 2025, the 20th anniversary of the only World Series win in over 100 years by losing 100 games. Why this has happened is anyone's guess.
-
Of course, Getz won't get fired. He is doing what JR wants him to do. Slash payroll and con fans with a non-ending rebuild.
