  1. One of the most ridiculous posts I have ever read on this forum.
  2. Pito will probably be available for cheap. If so, sign Pito for 2-3 years and launch Vaughn for pitching. Try to sign Bennentendi and/or Trea Turner. Hendriks is not un-tradeable. Trade for another OFer if Colas does not look like he can play RF and handle major league pitching. Trade Lance Lynn and look for another TOR starter
  3. Pedro kissing Eloy's ass right out of the gate. Eloy looked pretty tentative in the Facetime compared to his usual gregarious demeanor. Anything he needs? Yes. He will let Grifo know...
  4. Vaughn and Sheets are cheap platoon 1B/DH/OF players. Keep them and see how the new Manager deploys them and how they respond next year. I think we have seen enough of them to know what to expect though.
  5. Let's see what Colas does in Spring Training before calling for him to be a starting player on the major league team.
  6. Ozzie has evolved with his temperament for sure and has learned a lot about the relationship between a Manager and the media from co-hosting pre/post game shows with Garfein. There he agreed with and sometimes disagreed with criticisms directed at LaRussa, realizing that some fans thrive on Monday morning quarterbacking while others are never going to be happy. No one is ever going to accuse Ozzie of not trying to motivate his players or losing control of the clubhouse, like Ventura did. He does not have the limitations that aging brings on, like Tony encountered. Oz has mended old fences, especially with KW, who he genuinely respects. Ozzie respects RH and absolutely reveres Jerry Reinsdorf for what he has done for him and his family. That is the fact no matter whether you like Ozzie or not. As far as idle threats to not attend games if Oz is Manager, why? If that is how shallow one's connection is with the WSox is, fine. Adios. Fair weather fans are often discovered to not be genuine Sox fans at all, and that raises the question - how much should their opinions count on any decisions the WSox make? Like you have veto power because you attended one game last season?
  7. Espada is out https://sports.yahoo.com/report-astros-joe-espada-running-030110635.html Just hire Oz and get to work on making some coaching and roster changes.
  8. Ozzie would probably be the best choice to add fan interest in a city that has a competitive market for fans sports dollars. Ozzie has long relationships with KW, Hahn, JR, and the Reinsdorf family although some have been rocky over the years. He also know many of the players on the team
  9. The games played stat is really meaningless. It ignores the nature and reasons for the injuries and several games where Eloy and/or Robert played but probably shouldn't have. My concern moving forward would be Eloy's hamstring which was surgically repaired and caused him to miss games when he returned and Robert's wrist injury, which he had an earlier surgical procedure on and could not swing the bat during the last few weeks of the season. Vaughn is good hitter but after 1024 major league plate appearances over two years, he has hit .255 with 32 HR. He has a lot of singles over that time but he is emphatically slow on the bases. In my opinion, he is not as good as Abreu at knocking in runs in clutch situations. I just don't understand why some fans think this guy is un-tradeable. He is a good hitter and an average fielder, but he hasn't proven to be much more than that to this point. If the Sox received a good offer for him, I would trade him and try to add some speed to the line-up. A player with speed and OBP like Kwan that gets walks and hits singles, but turns many into doubles after stealing second would be great, especially with the rule changes in effect next year (bigger bases, time limit between pitches, max pick-off attempts). Vaughn is much shorter than Eloy or Sheets and slower in the OF. I like all of these players, but none of them should be off-limits in a trade.
  10. "Prick" Penis" and "Cockier" all within one paragraph. Penis envy ?
  11. Here is the downside to trading Eloy and Moncada and relying on Colas to start in RF and Robert in CF: Robert is"injury prone,",,,His hand/wrist injuries seem related and if so, there a risk of re-injury. Colas might be the next Dayan Viciedo. Looks like a tank in the videos. Vaughn (another tank) is the most over-hyped, over rated WSox player since Brian Anderson. The return for Eloy and Moncada might be underwhelming. Then be careful what you wish for trading core players. Eloy might pump 40+ HR for the Yanks. Makes sense for them if they want to start replacing Judge's 62. Moncada LH power might play well in Yankee stadium while Burger looks like he has his shoe laces tied together when fielding balls at third base. Vaughn's 2022 season might prove to be the best of his career. Sox need pitching. starters and bullpen. There are no injury proof players that will make a difference.
  12. The short porch in LF might suit Yoan.
  13. Eloy has stated emphatically that he does not want to strictly be a DH. There are teams other than the WSox that will use a player like Eloy in the OF. Obviously not a direct comparison but Judge is 6'7" and plays OF because he hits (at least during the regular season) . Eloy has trade value and would look good in a Yankee uniform if they decide to let Judge walk. So perhaps Eloy is a Yankee next season. I think after they got swept and Donaldson was so bad, they might also consider trading for Moncada.
  14. Reading through this thread I find some out-sized opinions about future ticket sales by some posters that only attend one game a year or live in distant locations and never go. My hope for Sox fans is that the front office makes some moves that get fans excited about the 2023 season and maybe plan on going to a few more games.
  15. Abreu's demeanor during TLR's last press conference can be interpreted any way you wish, but from my perspective, he looked sad for Tony and disappointed at the grueling criticism Tony faced down to his last day as Manager. It is possible that Jose may have spoken to Albert Pujols about Tony and about becoming a FA late in his career. I get the sense that for any number of reasons, the least of which is the possibility of a lucrative final contract, Abreu welcomes FA and probably wants to move on from the WSox.
  16. Sheets' improved performance in 2022 at least puts him in the conversation to be a Left handed platoon player (RF/DH/1B) in 2023. I think that depends, in part, on what Colas can do. The Sox should have allowed Colas as a September call-up to help make that determination.
  17. Maybe it would be worth trying to trade for Zach Plesac, who the Guardians might be fine dealing because of his injuries and antics.
  18. TLR wanted to assemble the strongest, healthiest roster to make a late season playoff tun. He limited innings by Kopech and other pitchers, gave certain starting players days off by inserting subs, and sat players when the stats indicated unfavorable match-ups (like Vaughn against tough RH starters). Most of those moves backfired, primarily because there was simply no depth to support them. Keuchel was responsible for at least 5 losses. Eloy, Robert and Grandal were injured for most of the season and late season injuries to TA and Robert pretty much ended any outside chance they had to make a run. McEwing had too many bad sends and had an argument with Lance Lynn that looked like it was not resolved on the field. I think McEwing and Boston need to go. Katz did a nice job holding a clipboard.
  19. That was a nice game to watch for those who enjoy the nuances and the outcome of each game. Good pitching and a key home run to get the game tied then some key hits. Moncada is making some re-think his offensive potential with several clutch hits over the past two weeks or so. Likewise Sheets looks like he is seeing and attacking the ball better. Meanwhile, Vaughn still is having some issues adjusting his approach to those outside sliders. Once he steps in the bucket with the leg kick, he seems to have a hard time covering the outside sliders.
  20. A true Sox fan is never going to root against the team. Anyway. Good luck to Sox fans living on Florida's West cost. It could be rough if some of the predictions come true.
  21. Again, I say the Sox should double down with the core of power hitters they have and add to it. Remember that the shift will not be permitted next year which will seriously help Grandal, Moncada, and Sheets. Get a RFer and see if Colas is ready in Spring Training. Add a starting pitcher or two and rework the bullpen. Not sure I would want to see Hendriks back.. We are not that far off from having a winning team even though it seems like it now. No need to panic or jump into the circular firing squad. Pretend it's 2004 and we are only a few moves away.
  22. The Sox tried to win by constructing a line-up with a lot of power hitters. The offense failed , not because of that strategy, but rather, because the players that were signed up to hit home runs didn't hit enough of them or were out on the IL for numerous games. You can't blame the Manager or coaches for not having players like Grandal, Pito, Zavala, Eloy, Sheets and Vaughn beat out grounders for singles or go from first to third on a hit. That does not necessarily mean that the South Side Hitmen 2.0 strategy was wrong. If you have 5-6 decent power hitters in a line-up and a few contact hitters, you can score enough runs to beat teams like Cleveland. I'd try to double down on it next year by adding some bats like Colas and improving the pitching staff with a few arms.
  23. Moncada's defense is not starting to go bad because he had a bad game or two. As you may recall, he caught a foul ball that was a key out and has hit a couple of home runs of late. The Sox were demoralized after that extra inning loss and it carried over to a game against an ace pitcher. Meanwhile, the Sox did not have Luis Robert or TA in the line-up. Lance Lynn looks like he has lost his stuff but kept his penchant for anger at players who make errors while he is on the mound. We came up a few games short.
