August 14, 20169 yr QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Aug 14, 2016 -> 04:54 AM) http://chicago.suntimes.com/sports/ventura...as-to-be-asked/ No....No....No...NNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
August 14, 20169 yr He really must be dreaming that they'd offer him a contract. There's no plausible way I can see this happening outside of going on a 40 game winning streak.
August 14, 20169 yr Ain't happening Robin... Now with the current injuries Robin doesn't have a whole lot of options... nor to I question Robins strategy (usually) But the way the team plays, their mental edge, looseness and confidence has been bad since they couldn't score a run, and slid at the end of 2012 - it's lacking. It's always been that way. We've gotten many different players...but all the same results. It's time to see if another manager can stir something up.
August 14, 20169 yr Normally I'd say he's got a snowball's chance in hell of returning. But these are the White Sox remember. Expect the unexpected with them. Mark
August 14, 20169 yr And this dramatically changes the dynamic for the off season. Conventional wisdom was suggesting the Sox would issue a statement saying something along the lines of, "it was mutually agreed that Robin would not be returning. He wanted to spend more time with his family." (or some other face saving statement.) Now that Robin has publicly said he'd be willing to return, that blows that scenario right out of the water. If the Sox let him go the onus is put completely on them, they made that decision...not Robin. Mark Edited August 14, 20169 yr by Lip Man 1
August 14, 20169 yr QUOTE (Rowand44 @ Aug 14, 2016 -> 10:21 AM) I'd bring back Ventura, Hahn and Kenny! Heel
August 14, 20169 yr Don't worry, we'll go on a mid-September tear, finish 80-82 (but obviously miss the playoffs) and Robin will be handed a 3-year extension.
August 14, 20169 yr It's a very sad state of affairs. He has a few stars on the roster but also has an ungodly number of terrible players/pitchers as well. He needs to move on but there's no guarantee it'll be any different with a new manager.
August 14, 20169 yr QUOTE (Jose Abreu @ Aug 14, 2016 -> 06:54 PM) Don't worry, we'll go on a mid-September tear, finish 80-82 (but obviously miss the playoffs) and Robin will be handed a 3-year extension. If the Sox were to win 15 of their last 20 or something he'd probably return. But it would mean nothing. We'd still probably be team dysfunction under his leadership again next year. One crazy loss would probably end our season again.
August 14, 20169 yr So tired of watching a Ventura-led team. He might be the best manager of all time, but it's simply not working with him here.
August 14, 20169 yr QUOTE (fathom @ Aug 14, 2016 -> 01:41 PM) So tired of watching a Ventura-led team. He might be the best manager of all time, but it's simply not working with him here. A guy who exudes boring managing a boring team is not a good combination.
August 14, 20169 yr If he returns I'm not or if the put another retread. It makes us forget what great players they were. No Thome either unless he's the hitting coach. Cooper is no longer effective either. What manager would say no unless they were retiring. Edited August 14, 20169 yr by kitekrazy
August 14, 20169 yr I won't believe he's actually gone until there's actually another manager under contract.
August 14, 20169 yr If the only available candidates, should Ventura not be back, are ex-White Sox players, does replacing him matter?
August 14, 20169 yr QUOTE (spiderman @ Aug 14, 2016 -> 05:39 PM) If the only available candidates, should Ventura not be back, are ex-White Sox players, does replacing him matter? Frankly...it can't hurt.
