IMO try to trade Grandal for Blackmon, kicking in a lower-end prospect or two if necessary due to the amount remaining on Grandal's deal.  It's some immediate salary relief for COL.  Or maybe Grandal

  • I'm going to take the Jack Parkman approach and assume that Eloy is actually out for three years now.

It’s a party up in here - in the worst kind of way.

People keep mentioning Gallo. Do you all mean Joey Gallo? Can he play in the outfield? And what are you willing to give up to get him?

He’s one of the best OF in baseball.

Screw it, bring up Cespedes and just roll with it

I think they end up signing Yoenis Cespedes.

I think this also might change their plans with Vaughn. He may be a trade piece now.

Give Collins a shot at DH.....Eloy is probably gone this year.

Edited by Jack Parkman

This really highlights just how little flexibility this team has.

I agree with this.

What would it take for 2 years of Gallo?

Dalquist?

These guys and teams are gonna have us by the balls knowing we are desperate.

I mean, if most teams lost one of their top offensive players, I am sure their board would meltdown.

But is he even healthy enough to play LF at this point? And he would end up taking a couple weeks to get ready.

You know, I didn't realize that. I thought he was a 1b/3b.

But still... what would it take to get him?

A few lottery ticket types.

at least Eloy can't hurt our OF defense this year, I'm sure the pitching staff sees it as a silver lining ?

Way more than that. They’re not just gonna give him away

Hahn having a presser. Not good.

if the Sox don't absolutely decide here and now that Eloy is a full time DH, trade his ass next year, he's a huge liability if he can't play every single day

I mean, someone has to say this right? How much of a market is there for a full time DH with $35 million guaranteed over the next 3 years remaining on their contract and a severe arm/shoulder injury the previous season? You're not getting anything of use for that.

Injuries happen, and sometimes a big gun like Eloy goes down.  What's the most frustrating is that it was completely avoidable.  He truly is like a clumsy newborn giraffe out there, but he makes it worse by taking unnecessary risks.

I imagine Hahn is already on the phone.

Harold's like “if only Grandal could get hurt next”       Jk

The guy who won a gold glove last year? Yeah, I think he can play outfield.

Why?

Jose is the one who is gonna have to get moved after the season if Eloy is healthy.

You don't move 6 years of a great hitter in Vaughn when you can move 1 year instead.

It think Hahn would be doing this if it was a week or a full season injury

This.

Vaughn is the trade piece. I just don't think that Abreu is going anywhere until he sucks.
