2022 Bold Predictions Thread

To generate some hopefully different discussion other than the Offseason Thread Part n - Rumor Boogaloo

I don't want to hear in this thread how Minnesota and Chicago will come down to the wire or Luca$ Giolito will come in 2nd for the Cy Young in here - too many people expect that.

This thread is for predicting 125 wins, or Tony LaRussa being fired midseason, or Luca$ winning 27 games, or the entire pitching staff coming down with COVID and it knocking the team out of contention.

Mine:

  • Adolfo stays with the Sox, earns the RF spot, comes close to winning ROY in a repeat of Puigmania by hitting 25+ home runs and having highlight throws (his OBP will be lower than Puig's .391 and his strikeouts will be higher), but people love highlights.
  • Romy Gonzalez and Nick Madrigal have comparable WAR at the end of the season.
  • Anderson hits .400 going into the All-Star break.
  • Yermin is an All-Star starter, for another team.

Kimbrel is not traded and ends up being one of the best inning 7-8 guys in baseball.

Adolfo earns the RF spot and fairs well enough to be serviceable.  Hits 20+ HRs with a relatively low BA and a lot of Ks.  But his defense is solid.

Joe Kelly beans Correa accidentally, and a brawl ensues.  LaRussa gets involved and ends up with a broken hand.

Moncada returns to 2019 form and leads all AL 3B in BA at the All Star break...but still isn't named an All Star.

Eloy miraculously doesn't get hurt.

Dammit, Adolfo-mania was gonna be mine ?

 - Dallas Keuchel throws a no-hitter.

 - Josh Harrison makes the All Star team.

 - Turns out Michael Conforto has actually been retired this whole time.

Jerry Reinsdorf spends $200M in the next two weeks

Adam Engel hits 20 HRs

Abreu has a 2003-Konerko like slump to start the year

Graveman leads the team in saves

Robert, Eloy,TA, Yaz, Abreu, Leury, Engel,Moncada, all miss time with injuries, and the White Sox are shocked.

Come on Eloy not getting hurt! Next you will be saying Adam Engel goes a season without appearing on the DL ?

No matter how well the White Sox play...Soxtalk will complain.

Andrew Vaughn posts a .900 OPS

Dylan Cease is 3rd in Cy Young voting

For at least a month this year, Reynaldo Lopez is the White Sox’s best starter and Velasquez is their best setup man.

4 AL Central teams finish above .500. 3 make the playoffs.

Jake Burger gets 50 starts at 2b.

Zack Collins is the White Sox’s starting catcher in the playoffs.

The White Sox are in the top 3 teams for games lost to the IL.

Is Micker becoming a good contributor even bold at this point? If not, then that

Well, considering his future with the team is up in the air due to his options, yes.

Nick Madrigal hits more homers than Josh Harrison

My brother just asked me to post

Nicky Delmonico will come out of retirement and play RF come August ?

I think this is real. I don't hate josh harrison or anything but given our history a lukewarm prediction is that he won't be on the roster in august.

(and he also may look like a great signing through end of april)

1. Josh Harrison is cut by July 15

2. Vince Velasquez doesn't make it past April

3. Cease leads our team in cy young votes.

4. Kopech leads our starters in ERA/FIP (just doesn't have a ton of innings)

5. Abreu has under 100 RBI

6. Vaughn bats .280/25/90

7. Eloy bats .300/40/100

8. Moncada continues doing what we've seen.  Not a difference maker but good player.

9. Conforto is on the white sox and slashes .270/30/80

10.  Sox win 100 games, go to the world series and lose to Dodgers

11. Romy has a 2.5 WAR season, but doesn't start until Harrison gets cut in July.
