Eloy Out 6-8 Weeks

If Tony says that he isn’t out for the year… I’m preparing for him to be out the entire year.

  • I think we need to be real here. If Eloy was gonna go through the motions and be what he was in 2021, he is extremely replaceable. He doesn't play defense. If he doesn't post an OPS above .850, his va

  • Fortunately we have Leury who needs playing time and never seems to get hurt. Dependable, like herpes, always coming back.  I'm thinking of taking up a new hobby. Maybe picking up a heroin habit.

Safe assumption. Dude tore his hammy. If he’s back it’ll be late, he’ll be out of shape, and will suck. It’s just reality. The last thing Eloy needed was another long absence. Eloys outlook unfortunately is never going to fully rebound. He’s an often injured DH with a world of offensive talent he’s unlikely to stay healthy long enough to tap into. It really fucking sucks, but this isn’t surprising. I jus thought it would happen playing LF.

Yep. I forgot what I had nicknamed him but it was something like “Eloy The Glasshouse Jimenez”.

Eloy not busting it down the line cost the Sox an out on Friday night. It also potentially cost them the game, but the way way they are hitting, probably not. Now he does the right thing and bam. He is another guy you can count on to get hurt every season. TA should be having some leg issues soon.

I think nobody is talking about how he stepped on the bag. If he hits the front part of the bag like you are supposed to do when running to 1st he is probably fine

Get well soon Eloy.  Start that mental prep to DH.  And please work on that swing to elevate the ball w/o stupidly needing to leg out so many grounders.

Any chance of prying Benintendi from KC?

  • Heads22 changed the title to Eloy Out 6-8 Weeks

Pretty sure the 6 to 8 week thing was an estimate that ptact made before he knew the full extent.

I’ll be shocked if that ends up being all it is.

Where are we getting 6-8 weeks?

I will be very surprised if it is less that 8 weeks.

This is actually a pretty decent rule of thumb.

Let’s see a Brian Goodwin reunion. Feel like he always hit the ball hard. He’s bad defensively so he’ll fit right in!

If it's a grade 2 hamstring tear, it's painful but likely doesn't require surgery.  Not a medial expert but this seems about right.  If I recall, Madrigal's was grade 3.  Madrigal couldn't get up on his own.  Eloy was at least able to get up on his own before being carted.   We will almost certainly get him before the All Star break.

If he is out 6-8 weeks with being taken out on a cart I'll take it.

If the Reinsdorf propaganda machine says 6 to 8 weeks, it's see ya in the spring, son.

The guy is a gifted hitter who for whatever set of mechanical reasons cannot stay healthy.

I assume this will end up being a swap Gio for Eloy?

6-8 seems really optimistic. Also ...as i said earlier he is the one guy sox can afford to be hurt.. Vaughn has to play everyday, and this will accomplish that

Nah Tony actually told Eloy he will have several months of season left when he returns. No way he tells Eloy that without knowing for sure lol. But yes typically you'd both be right.

Does Jake Burger stay for the rest of the season now?

You don't know our manager very well.

Probably safe to assume.

That's about the 4th of July for a return.  Hopefully it holds up.

Eloy going forward can't be counted on to stay healthy a complete season. Moncada same deal.

You just better hope that the last few days when Vaughn collided with infielders doesn't become habitual. If that was Eloy we never would've heard the end of it. With Vaughn it's mostly crickets.

It's simple, really.

One guy has more melanin than the other guy. The more melanin you have, the less "benefit of the doubt" you seem to get over here.
