So now that Catcher is on the list of massive holes in the lineup, what can the Sox do there?

Could Grandal for Perez still be an option if KC is only interested in getting out of the money, or would the Sox have to add now that it's known that Grandal is damaged goods?

  • You give Vaughn 150+ games at 1b batting 3rd and a new clubhouse dynamic, you won’t be disappointed. But by all means, trade him and re-sign a 36 yr old, because he’s so loyal to our losing franchise.

Sox better find some SP depth if Burke isn't going to factor in until August.  He's currently 2nd in line.

Would be nice if we could deal off a spare part for a SP with options.

What the Sox were running out as upper minors pitching depth last season was a total embarrassment. I'm with you. They need to address it. It went overlooked, but Charlotte was regularly running out 2 or 3 bullpen games per week because the Sox weren't willing or able to build a viable AAA rotation.

Right and I'm particularly vexed that it hasn't been addressed while they are picking up minor league contracts for OFers and catchers left and right.

Pitching depth is abysmal.

So was Chris Bassitt

Bassitt was a way better prospect than Martin

No offense but I’d go with Sickels ratings that you posted over future sox every time. He was always my go to guy for prospect rankings. Probably why I remember Bassitt being more highly rated than Martin.

Now?  It's been on the list all off season, Jack.

Martin did what he did because he had a velo increase. If it's still there next year there's no reason to call it a flash in the pan.

Not particularly novel to see a pitcher make a sudden leap in stuff.

It’s not that difficult to find a 2nd baseman who is an upgrade over Romy Gonzalez. This franchise is pathetic.

Leury is going to get way too many at bats

The Sox haven't had a 2nd basemen surpass 2 fWAR in almost 20 years. Romy/Sosa/Popeye sets up to be an inevitable black hole again.

If they're contending, they'll end up trading for a Segura or Profar type as a stopgap for prospects *and* money when they could sign a solid player for just money right now and be done with it.

He is inevitable. Leury will still be getting 400 ABs in 2032.

I believe NBB has a legit source, but I’m not buying this.  I can see them being ok with youth at 2B, but I don’t believe Hahn isn’t looking for upgrades.  He said there would be trades and I fully expect at least one to still happen.

Sure, for a catcher

NBB may have a legit source (not 100% sold on that), but he definitely doesn’t know as much as he leads on. He acts like he’s in the room.

If you’re going to flip Hendriks for Jansen, at least take back Biggio or Espinal or Gurriel or even Merrifield in the deal. I don’t love any of those fits persay and obviously their values aren’t all the same, but they can all play IF and OF and are easy upgrades on what we have at 2B and can be part of the bridge to Colas in RF.

Plan A is a desperation Plan C/D for serious clubs trying to field a legitimate World Series contender.

Their lineup has gotten progressively worse over the past three seasons, with slight projected improvement to 14th or midlevel this season, with projections for five of the nine (Robert, Jimenez, Vaughn, Romy and Colas) above any previous fWAR high.

Him and Eloy vs. Wall are insanely annoying.

Until they’re wrong once, I will continue to believe they know more than anyone else on social media about the Sox

Both are still very annoying regardless.

I don't believe Eloy vs Wall's water carrying for Jerry's cheapness. I do think he's credible otherwise. That's what ownership WANTS the fanbase to think.

Eloy vs the Wall just regurgitates whatever NBB says.  I find him far less credible.

Martin is ho-hum and will be exposed before long.

I always thought that, but then he throws a fastball 96, and I start thinking, there may be more there than I think.
