This isn’t even a story is it? The Sox have 1 outfielder on their 40 man. Of course Colas is the front runner to start in right field. It’s fine too.

Maybe?  I was told the plan was to start Colas in the minors but that's likely to have changed because Hahn couldn't get done what he thought he could.  Not that anyone should be surprised by that.

True and some of us wanted him up last year to be eligible for the playoffs so he wouldn't have to start cold and learn how to play The GRate OF on fly and were sick of the OF defense costing games because they couldn't keep runners honest or throw anyone out and watching of our hitters LHH crumble down the stretch. and watch Robert take terrible swings while injured.

Even Mark Payton would have been worth giving a longer look to if they were that set against starting Colas' service time clock.

I just don’t think requiring him to play home games in Charlotte to start the year is meaningful for anyone.

Seems a little ambiguous to me.  Colas can be awarded a full years service time if he's in the top 2 ROY voting . That seems a bit ambiguous. depending on the definition of "receives". Does "receives" mean strictly opening day and/or if he's awarded a full year based on finishing in the top 2 in rookie of the year as the 1st paragraph states ? So theoretically if Colas finishes in the top 2 in ROY he will be awarded a full year and get the Sox a top draft pick despite not being on the Opening Day roster ?

I think it’s pretty much, you can try to suppress his service time and get the extra year but if that player is 1/2 in ROY, he’s getting that extra year regardless.

So if you think the player has a chance to finish 1/2 ROY, you better call him up OD so you can at least get that draft pick since he’s getting the full year either way.

Even if the player called up OD doesn’t get 1/2 ROY, you’re still rewarded an extra draft pick if he’s 3 ROY or top 5 MVP/Cy Young.  Although in most cases, top 5 MVP/Cy Young would be 1/2 ROY anyways.
