Yeah.  Seems very telling.

Well he also is still trying to play the outfield…

There's been times Eloy actually looks decent defensively. Of course it usually ends fairly quickly with some sort of injury. And it's 50/50 at best he throws to the correct base or a cut off man.

He’s as delusional as the front office!

This team always knows how to instill confidence ?

I said this a while back. He will not be okay as a DH and I think it affects his game.

I think its more that he is a 26 year old kid that isn't interested in being relegated to DH duty for the rest of his career quite yet.  Just because he wants to play OF and the coaching staff is at least leaving that door open for it (closing the door would be kind of stupid, if its they only played him out there in emergencies), does NOT mean they actually intend for him to anything but the primary DH.

Last season is pretty clear evidence to the contrary.  That's the best he hit since he tore his shoulder from the bone....ya know...playing defense.

He arguably had one of his best offensive stretches in baseball when he came back last year strictly at DH.

Did the team ever have a leader? As much praise as Jose got the clubhouse seemed to be in constant turmoil over the past 2-3 years. And the play on the field reflected it, almost 0 accountability.

That would fall to the longest tenured player, right?

Yah, I think Pito was a silent leader.  This team needs a vocal leader on the position player side.  I feel like Liam might have been that guy, even though its probably more difficult for a reliever to be the team leader.  But alas....

He's an idiot loll

I appreciate his desire to play the outfield but I suspect this is more ego driven.

Bottom line is this. How many times does he have to miss games because of injuries when he is in the outfield before it gets through to him that if he wants a long career, if he wants to make more money and if he wants to help his team, he becomes a DH?

The leader should be Grandal. He's the most experienced of the bunch. He speaks both English and Spanish doesn't he?

Other than that the only one I can think of might be TA but idk he never really gave me "leader" vibes.

Maybe Vaughn can grow into a leader role...

To be fair, when a leader leaves, along with an entire management team, it is kind of hard to know who the next leader would be.  The personality of a locker room isn't a linear equation.  Who knows who emerges.  Of all of the things to be annoyed with, this isn't one.  Also I do like the fact that Eloy still WANTS to play OF, even if it scares me to death.  It at least means he isn't a quitter.

Can the worst player on the team really be the leader?

Hey Eloy, if you want to make more money just focus on hitting the ball really far and staying healthy and the best way to do that is not playing the field

Those were my EXACT same thoughts when I read this. This is a complete non-story in my eyes.

I think he was the Konerko type leader when this group seems like it needs a kick in the ass type AJ style.

It's amazing how many "leaders" develop when a team wins.

The 2023 White Sox win 95 games, there are multiple guys that will get the "leader" title associated with them. Being a "leader" of a losing team is about as valuable as tits on a hog.
